I remember hearing the FSN Detroit guys mentioning it during the Phoenix game - that he didn't get Cheli because he holds a grudge and Dom was excluded too - something about how he'd be too old to realize what was going on.... lol
-
The Belle-Tire guy would be a great idea, my daughter already gets the giggles when he comes on the TV screen. If we ever made it to JLA, and he was there - she'd probably flip. He's rather kid-friendly. I think a giant octopus might scare a couple of the real young kids..

I'm a big fan of that idea. It's a win-win situation. I'm really not keen on the idea of using the all-star game to determine who gets home ice advantage. Things like that, would pressure guys like Zetterberg into playing when they really shouldn't be. As someone pointed out, losing someone during the All-Star game would be such a slap to the face.

Lilja needs to spec out of Assassination and into Combat then Or at least Subtlety so he can shadowstep to the crease Regardless, I definitely enjoyed the game. A late one, for sure - but when you're on vacation... who cares how long or late the game goes?

A girlfriend of mine said she heard on her feed Cleary's eye is swollen shut I hope he's alright, I can't stand not seeing #11 out there.
-
I thought we'd already determined Cleary ALWAYS has something up with his eye... the boy belongs in Fight Club Good period though, we've already stepped up and let 'em know we're not taking any s*** tonight. Here's to hoping we've got one hell of a game to keep going. I've managed to not wake anyone up yet. ^.^

I've already had to ensure the door to both my daughter's room and my bedroom are closed so I don't wake up anyone else - this game is looking like it's going to be a nasty game.

Televised: NHLN-CA; FSN-D; FSN-W (HD) Streaming on Station 204 on your XM satellite Radio NHL.com Preview Team Leaders: Probable Starting Lines: Detroit Filppula-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Hudler-Franzen-Cleary Draper-Kopecky-Maltby Drake-Ellis-Downey Lidstrom-Rafalski Chelios-Lebda Kronwall-Lilja Chris Osgood Game Day Notes: Henrik Zetterberg - Out (Back) Mikael Samuelsson - Questionable (Flu) I know it's early - but late threads make me almost miss the game...

Awesome game guys! Kronner was a beast, everyone looked pretty good, even Sammy scored! Though it was difficult watching Hudler try and play around in Homer's office and wound up in the net.
-
Hah! Detroit was only so big because I just used the photos on the roster page on redwings.nhl.com - same for LA... I guess L.A. just doesn't like their guys as much as we do! And thanks for the updates on Hank and Sammy, I've edited the main post ^.^ I'm keeping my fingers crossed we keep puttin' the hurt on LA like we have been so far this season. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Cleary is gonna score again tonight. He's on fire.

AHH! Dammit.. we have no hockey in Kansas City We don't get these kinda opportunities. You guys are SO lucky. The pictures are great! You all look like you had a blast, and I've always heard good things about fan encounters with hockey players. It's so good to know they're genuinely cool - not just playing it up for those charity events like some other sports figures.
-
Heck yes we're a superstituous bunch! I refused to touch the stanley cup when they had it on display here in KC - and people looked at me like I was crazy. I kept telling them I hadn't earned it and didn't want to jinx my team if I dishonored the cup.. =x That was the summer of 2001 yanno, the following season we won the cup... I'm convinced by respecting the hockey gods they in return respected me Anywho, Wings are riding a high from 2 you know whats in a row.. here's to hoping they don't get lazy with it. 3-1 Wings - Hank nets one, Homer gets two assists and Hudler nails one in as well.
-
Oh thank you! I didn't have center ice last year so I missed the entire thing (and even if I did, with the way they treat pre-game shows, I doubt I'd have recieved the pre-game feed). Knowing I can see it on Sunday makes me giggle in such a good way. ^.^

Detroit has come out quick.. is it just me, or does JLA sound louder than normal already? I don't normally listen for crowd reactions, but I was cleaning up the kitchen and couldn't help but hear the crowd going nuts - and that was before Cleary scored. Hope our boys keep up the fire we need it after our cold shower against St. Louis.

We have a winner! It's not that I dislike Samuelsson... he just.. doesn't do it for me. He's not drowning himself out there, which is nice but I think he sees Pavel doing these crazy dekes and jukes and thinks "Hey! I can do that!" and manages to make himself look like an ass while getting the puck taken from him. Heck, even when my husband tried to call me into the room against the Wild when we were scrambling near the Minnesota net, instead of getting my attention he goes "Don't worry, Samuelsson has the puck. You're not gonna miss a goal." True story. He doesn't know alot about hockey, but he recognizes that Samuelsson isn't producing a lot for the team. However as it's been mentioned, at his price? Well... ya get what ya pay for.

Edit: Nevermnd, my Time Warner guide had the Top 50 Sports moments special listed, but it IS indeed showing the game. Yay!
-
I don't know whether I should laugh or cry... because my hockey-stupid husband asked me this VERY question not terribly long ago. Of course, having yet to have been near an actual net - he thinks they're small.. seeing that's how they look on television. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Acts like that make me sick. Flat out. I'm all about grit and grind, but there is a line between being 'rough' and being dangerous. He's crossed that line on more than one occasion and it's been well covered how dangerous a skate can be, intentional or not. That said however, I'm actually rather proud of the Islanders organization for the way their front offices are handling this and helping this guy get the help he needs. He obviously has a few unresolved issues somewhere - be it his career isn't what he'd like it to be, or as someone commented, 'Happy Gilmore' complex whatever it may be. At least he's sensible enough to realize, that he does have a problem that needs to be addressed and is taking active steps towards doing so. Kudos to them They're a good organization to help him out instead of shunning him like a black sheep.

Kopecky wasn't bad, didn't do anything to stand out.. which can be both good and bad Downey didn't scrap, he did get the homer-esque goalie interference calls. First one was pretty shady, but the second one he just wasn't on his feet and couldn't get himself to stop near the goalie. Hasek played well, a few times things could have gotten bad but the D took care of it. Hartigan did score our first one though A good move in his 2nd game of the season. And a good goal at that.

Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?
Krystal replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
Kansas City doesn't know squat about the NHL Network.. it's not listed anywhere on my channel guide, but the Detroiit/Nashville game is listed on Center Ice as 'NHLNT' even though it's not an available channel here. /sighs I was really looking forward to watching the game tonight. I may call my folks and see if they are getting NHL Network and I just may watch from their place. -
Aww - nobody pickin' up OsGod's slack tonight?
-
Dear Calgary, It's come to our attention that you've been robbed by a one 'Christopher Osgood'. I'm writing this to tell you; Tough s***. Sincerely, LGW
-
The Hockeytown Blues article is pretty much echoing everything we've been stating here at LGW - ever since I joined up. The schedule we're facing isn't stellar by any means, and attracts little interest from the locals. Granted, I can't speak a word on Michigan economy.. I don't live there, so I'm not going to pretend I understand or comprehend the situation there - but the NHL-side of the argument is solid.

Boo.. that horn interrupted my admiring of Hank c'est la vie, it was a good goal. Caught Ozzie totally off guard.
