They gave me the W for my 23rd back on the 18th I'm predicting a good game for tonight. Nothin' fancy, just getting the job done.

I think he was sitting next to me one night... I tend to get a little rowdy, but nobody minds when a girl gets into it. I'm glad to see Osgood starting, and happy to have Lids and Zetterberg in the lineup. Now they just owe it to me to bring me a W on my 23rd tonight. I've got work at 8am, and a sick kiddo to handle... but I'm sleeping on the couch if it means I get to catch my boys in action.

I was thoroughly disappointed with tonight's game. There was just no excuse for what happened out there. People were playing s***ty, there were some bad passes, and I won't even begin to start on the penalties that were called tonight. ~_~ But I will say Im disappointed that we didn't just finally drop the gloves on 'em, if anyone would have had the balls to stand up for it. Hasek looked terrible, and I'm normally a big fan of the Dominator but lets be reasonable.. some of those were just plain AWFUL. Parts of that game were literally hard to watch. I give big props to Ellis for what he did out there in the offensive zone. He dropped, lost his stick, and yet still put enough pressure on Anaheim to get a turnover and eventually turn that turnover into a goal. I was impressed with his determination. I'm also getting SO sick of Lilja.. the past several games, I've just groaned when I see him on the ice. Even my husband (who doesn't know s*** about hockey ) was asking me "Who's this Lilja guy? You seem pretty pissed at him." Half-assed forechecking, and half the time he puts effort into it he's getting a penalty called. I love the D-Z-H line, but I'd be beating a dead horse to say they can't do all this alone.

I have a meeting tonight 1 hour before game time... and from the way they've been going lately, I'll hopefully make it back during the 2nd period. /sigh I have high hopes for tonight though. We're a good team, but if we keep turning it over on our blue line and passing to the front of our net... we're gonna get pushed around again like we did against Chicago. Judging from the responses thus far, I'll make a bold prediction of 4-2 wings. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that poor Pavel FINALLY gets his darn goal.

Sir Dallas Drake!!

Dom took the penalty because he wanted more shots - with people whining about his 'terrible' save%

*chuckles* The s***-eating grin on Homer's face after the penalty waiving his goal makes me giggle.. it was obvious he told the hawk to GTFO and he got caught. He knows it too, otherwise he wouldn't be close to laughing in the box over it. The game is already blowing the minds of my husbands friends, they don't know much about hockey but they're enjoying what they're seeing.

I believe it's on FSN-Detroit; which means I get shafted here in KC.. /sigh but my best friend will be in attendance, I expect frequent updates throughout the game via cell phone. ^.^

I love that video so much, it's taken a permanent residence in my myspace profile I really wish I'd have been exposed to NHL-level hockey when I was younger.. it's a shame I didn't start really getting into the 'scene' until the mid-90s.

I had all intentions of going, and my best friend has the tickets in hand.. but then he got evicted from his apartment and hes back in the (no women allowed) dorm rooms.. so I'm sans a place to crash, with not enough cash to cover that and gas from KC. *sigh*

Here's a novel concept... watch the freakin' game! Then you might be able to pay attention to when something may come flying towards you ~_~ I have little sympathy for people who don't pay attention and wind up paying for it. I've had countless foul baseballs, warmup pucks, you name it shooting into the stands at me (o.O I swear I don't wear a bullseye or anything..) and I've never gotten hit. Ever. Granted, children are an exception... since they're usually dragged out by their parents and are more interested with other kids/what's under the seats/etc.. I mean, the puck in that story hit the post - if it hit hard enough to ricochet out and past the safety netting behind the goal.. it made a sound. Just common sense would have prevented it.

As much as I'd have truly loved to see Nashville come to Kansas City - I'm very glad Nashville gets to keep their team. I've had to sustain losing *two* minor league teams, and I'd never wish the pain of having no hockey in town upon anyone. Then again, my hillbilly county voted down a little exhibition center that had a guaranteed CHL team to stay in it... /sigh I just can't catch a break. I might as well just go ahead and book my tickets to Chicago for their hockey games

Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East
Krystal replied to Sleight's topic in General
Precisely the reason that NO ONE wanted to be there - not just hockey teams/fans but performers wouldn't come to Kemper Arena.. they'd either make a hole in their summer/spring schedules to hit up Verizon Wireless Ampitheater or pretty much not come at all. Kemper was leaky, always reeked thanks to the American Royal next door (horse s*** ftl ) The Sprint Center is a gorgeous new arena, and I'm of the belief that alot has changed in the NHL demographic since the Scouts were in KC. There wasn't nearly as much western interest as there is now (especially with teams within driving distance that have large fanbases - see: Dallas, Colorado). Not to mention the Scouts organization failed when it moved to Colorado too and hence the reason we now have the New Jersey Devils. The poor IHL/UHL teams - we had poor attendance in the winter due to the blind fandom of the Chiefs games (ew..) and the fact Kemper was hell in a handbasket to try and drive down to.. add in the chance for bad weather and no one in their right mind would drive down to the west bottoms to check out a hockey game - especially if something Chiefs related was going on somewhere else in town. IHL then folded, and the UHL team.. well there was some poor management on that end (hooray for promising money that wasn't available!). Not a total lack of support, but it certainly didn't help that we weren't exactly selling out games left and right. People always sell out the preseason games we get September-ish though... it couldn't be worse than some of the other markets they have now. -
This is me and my dad pre-game to the Blues/Wings game 3/22/03 - we won 4-2

Super guilty. I was even blamed for the game 3 loss to Anaheim for not wearing my red tanktop I wore it for game 4 and well... hah! I already told my husband, I don't care how or when - but someday I WILL visit the Joe. I hate only being able to see my Wings from Savvis. It just doesn't have the same appeal.

After your team is eliminated...who do you root for?
Krystal replied to Yzermaynard's topic in General
You hit the nail on the head I too supported Edmonton last year after their match up with Detroit, because they worked their asses off and deserved their shot. I was even a little disappointed when they lost. This year I'm rooting for Ottawa. My husband's been backing the Sens since they took on Pittsburgh in the quarterfinals, mostly due to the Pittsburgh using KC to get a new arena deal... he's still pretty bitter about that. Not that I blame him, but we're due for a CHL team literally down the street from us So I'm ok with that. Go Sens! -
By no means was I happy we lost last night... but by watching the game regardless of the score, I did find something I was very proud of. All playoff long, we've always kept it close, or we blew the other team out of the water. When they were up on us 3-0, we just played harder and worked for our goal. We didn't lower ourselves to cheap shotting the other team out of frustration or anger and I really respect my team for not sinking to that level. As you said, this is a very unforgiving sport and you can do everything right and still come up short. I think that's what happened to us last night. I knew from puck drop, the first goal was going to determine who would win that game. It's not what I wanted, but it's all about what happens on any given night out there on the ice. I'm not ignoring the rest of the playoffs because we're out, I'll still watch... I'll just be supporting Ottawa this year Last year I supported Edmonton for playing better than us and I felt they deserved it. Ottawa has done amazing things in the playoffs and I feel they deserve it more, so they're getting my support. The best we can do at this point is just wait for the Cup to be awarded, and we need to start planning ahead for 2008. We might be out a goaltender, and we still need to make a decision on Bertuzzi.
