Actual radio doesn't help those of us out of state >.< Well, guess it's time to go find something else to do tonight. Hopefully my GameCenter app doesn't jack up like it did last night. It didn't give me -any- details on who scored, when, nothing. It barely even gave me the score all night long. -

Refresh. Mine has died twice, but it's backed up and I just got a replay of the Brunnstrom goal -

Feed seems awful quiet, but the quality is infinitely better than last nights I saw. -

Wicked, thanks! Now, to blow this feed up on the flat screen and curl up on the bed. Is this the 'Joe-Vision' that someone mentioned earlier? It looks like the stuff you'd see on the scoreboard during the game xD -

Sounds like I'm SOL here in Kansas City (again) then.. unless there's someone re-streaming the Wings feed like they did the Philly one last night. But, listening to Ken Kal and the comedic stylings of Draper and Ozzie during the radio feed can't be too bad -

A writer from the Toronto Sun back in March seems to think that it's taken this long because they wanted to "fully evaluate Moore's injuries". Link: http://www.torontosun.com/sports/columnists/steve_simmons/2011/03/06/17515946.html Maybe I'll sound like a *****, but the way he's making it out that Moore's head injury is worse just due to the fact that he graduated from Harvard makes it seem like he'd be just fine if someone wrecked the head on your standard issue thug. It's either wrong, or it's not. His education level shouldn't even be a factor (other than knowing he should have dealt with the repercussions of wrecking Naslund - but that's another story).

Amen hun This has been an absolutely horrific 24 hours.. I still don't think it's fully sunken in with me right now. My brother gave me a heads up as I left the house yesterday afternoon and when I got home I finally saw the list of the deceased and I choked up the minute I saw Brad and Rusty on there.

Fixed that for ya. The Sprint Center is a good fit for an NHL team, but I don't forsee it actually housing one. Not only because of Kabrok's statement that the arena is doing fine on it's own without an anchor team (although it is) but there's just zero drive for anyone in the area to want to buy the team. The city won't buy it like Glendale did with the Coyotes, and I don't see anyone really wanting to pony up to pay for the Isles. Then of course, you get more league restructuring talk - etc etc and they already need to do it because of the Jets. I don't think the league would be too keen on having to do it yet again when the Islanders' arena agreement runs out.

So.. I'm living in Kansas City (we're getting a Pens/Kings preseason game.. blech) but my husband said we can make the drive to Colorado for our anniversary to see the Wings/Avs game on the 8th of October. Anyone living out that direction have any suggestions on where to go or stay? I've never been to Denver, and my husband's only really been there in passing through the airport on business.

HFBoards: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=905896 Luxury Tax article: http://www.themonitor.com/sports/probably-50667-bees-bucks.html Here's one that refuted the claim they're going to implement the luxury tax - which I know would make my team better off without: http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20110614/BLOGS11/110619750

I was reading a big 7-page discussion on the CHL's latest issues on HFBoards earlier. One of the posters goes into pretty good detail about which teams would be likely candidates to move based on their attendance/revenue/etc. Also there's a rumor of a luxury tax being implemented into the CHL - so who knows right now.
-
Well the player signings I was wondering more on the restriction level. In the CHL you can only sign four "veterans" per team (a vet being someone who's played 4+ years at the minor/NHL level). I don't know if the ECHL would have that sort of player cap. It's not the economy that's doing bad things in the CHL... granted, I know that Bossier-Shreveport lost the MudBugs due to not having enough money - but I think that's an isolated scenario. On the MudBugs Facebook page there were a lot of local complaints that there wasn't enough support in general and that they had just voted to increase taxes/drop serious cash on a new casino instead. Once you factor in more attractions in the area (other pro sports teams, casinos, etc) then the market gets spread thin and everybody sees a little less money coming in. As far as the teams leaving to the ECHL - they're moving out of a smaller league and into a bigger one because they're doing that well financially. Hell - Colorado sold out every single game this past season, including every playoff game. They're in that kind of a market though, they're in the mountains where hockey is a familiar sport, the Avs won the Cup in 2001 and obviously brought even more interest to the sport to that area... and that's not the luxury every location is going to have. When you combine how well they're doing, and some of the league restrictions the CHL has, then there's really no question as to what would serve the best interest of the franchise.
-
According to that site, it looks like my Mavericks are considering moving to the ECHL too o.O I gotta wonder what this is going to do with the player signings and whatnot, if they switch leagues and they have different systems. If I have to lose a third team here, I might cry ;_; EDIT: Not happening! http://centralhockeyleague.com/pressroom/news/?article_id=6619

The real issue would stem from why they ceased operations to begin with. Moving leagues won't help if they're having an issue with reaching a deal with their venue or the city... Someone else heard a rumor that the entire LEAGUE is ceasing operations this year, but I -really- don't think that's what's happening. Especially not after their 97 sellouts this season throughout the whole league. Granted, Colorado has up and left the entire league.. so maybe that has something to do with the speculation.
-
Man that really bites! I know the CHL is doing their yearly meeting in Arizona right now, in regards to the league and any changes to be made (like last year, when the CHL merged together with the IHL) but I had no idea that Shreveport had actually closed up shop What a way to go out though man.. if you're gonna bow out - do it on top!
-
Congrats to the Mudbugs I lived in central texas during the mid-90s and went to many many Stampede games. Now that I moved further north, I'm a Mavericks fan so I'm glad for anyone to knock out the Eagles I hated the series we had with them... their goalie slashed my captain in the face, one of my boys ended up with his jaw wired shut from a knee to the face along the boards (no suspension) so... I'm bitter about Colorado making it that far. So yeah - congrats! I know the Mudbugs have been bouncing leagues since their inception, good to see 'em win the big one.

Well an 8 hour day at work tomorrow, plus studying for Finals.. guess I'm lucky the Wings are out so I can focus on that 'eh? All in all, we still forced game 7 after being down 0-3 and we made San Jose work for it right up until the end. That's better than a lot of people expected out of us, and I can at least be proud of the effort they put forth to get this far. It's hard though, when you're missing 3 very key guys in a game 7 match-up like this. Hope Danny's ok, hope we can find someone willing to take Hudler off our hands (does the KHL want him back? Burke wanna give him a shot? Anybody?), and hope we come out swinging next season.
