The 'if you ladies survive recruit training' speech from full metal jacket -
As long as they come out and execute and don't make big mistakes, they can win against anyone. It's not like they're a fish out of water and don't belong there. They CAN do it, let's see if they WILL. I'll be there tonight hoping for the best GO WINGS

Bad Vlad Forever replied to Roberto Who?'s topic in General
I live within striking distance, I just don't own that much toilet paper -
Yoink your patch? Is that what you kids are calling it these days? I'm not THAT grabby! But I was able to find a place in MI that still had a few. So please disregard, all.

Did anyone else notice that Anaheim did a particularly good job, especially early in the game yesterday, of shutting the Wings down in the neutral zone? This is how Edmonton stopped us last year.I was getting frustrated that the Wings couldn't set up a play while crossing the blue line. We just had to dump and chase. Their defensemen and centers were on every pass we made between the blue lines, at least initially. I hope the Wings are able to shake them loose for the next game, and get some odd man rushes going.

I really really hope so Mostly because I'll be there, and I still have a sour taste in my mouth of being at the pond during Wings/Ducks playoff series of 03 Hopefully we can stick it to Giguere again
-
Oh, I agree. We had our chances to put it away. Empty netter that missed comes to mind, I forget who, but someone rang Giguere's post, etc... I know sometimes your only play is to dump and chase, but it was just a little more prevalent yesterday than it had been in awhile for me, and I commend our Wings for completely outplaying them for 59 minutes yesterday. Unfortunately, it only takes a minute...

I agree entirely In fact (and this will probably get me in trouble), but I really don't think NHL should exist south of the mason dixon line, and west of Colorado. Basically, anywhere that doesn't have 'hockey weather'. TB, ATL, SJ, ANA, N.C.....send em back to Canada!!! I suppose L.A. and Colorado can stay just because they have some historical significance/contribution. I fully expect to be attacked for my hockey snobbery, and that's ok. It's just my opinion.

I will be there, but probably won't make it for the pregame....plus I'll be the guest of a Ducks fan (ewwww)

If only my parents weren't coming to visit....but the upside is that it will be on NBC so I will actually get to view one game this series! I am extremely heartened to hear that such an unoffical gathering even exists out here. How many people do you normally get? GO RWNW! GO WINGS!

Trying to scare up a couple of tickets for tonight's game
Bad Vlad Forever posted a topic in General
I've checked in at Ebay, and Ticket Exchange, and the best I can seem to do is $80/ea for nosebleed section. Anyone have any suggestions? I just can't spend $160 in good faith on nosebleed seats. Yes, I live in So Cal, but I'm definitely not made of money. Shame on me for trying to score 'cheap' tickets for what is arguably the 2nd biggest game in the Ducks otherwise brief history. I have the cheap 'ultra basic' cable package at home and we don't even get Versus, so I've been keeping up with the games online, if you can believe that. GO WINGS -
At my next door neighbors house here in so cal jumping up and down as he and his wife shook their heads at us in disbelief that anyone in our area would care about any team but the lakers.

I was going to say Dino, but I didn't know how many of us still remembered. That settles it, this is the board I'm meant to be on!

Trying to scare up a couple of tickets for tonight's game

Thanks Everyone! I may just have to sit in front of the computer tonight. Oh well. GO WINGS -
Probie, Grimson, Hatcher, Kocur, McCartey....I miss having a 'go to' guy in these roles.
-
If it's now a game of powerplays, it would behoove the Ducks to start actually scoring on powerplays.

I think that if you're in the office, you gotta at the very least offer him a 1 year gig and see what he does in regular season play. He's good, he fills a void for us, he has a great attitude so far, let's see where this can go!

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET
Bad Vlad Forever replied to aflac9262's topic in General
I don't think this is a game that we 'should' win at all. I know the Ducks can rise to the occasion, but I'm really hoping the Wings keep the momentum up, and play their game. Kind of like what they did in San Jose. If they can catch Anaheim on their heels tonight, I will be on cloud 9 tomorrow. No predictions, just hopes. -
Definitely Giguere. You gotta remember, it's still early in the series. I don't want to downplay the importance of tonight's game, but it's not quite desperation time for Anaheim yet (...yet). Even if they were desperate, I don't think you can not start Giguere. That said, I hope Detroit scores no less than 7 on him tonight!

I'm a long time, born and raised Wings fan from MI now in So Cal....and I can honestly say that during the regular season, you can go to any Wings, Blackhawks, Wild, etc.... game at the Ponda Center, and you'll see 1/2 of the crowd in the visiting teams jerseys. There are tons and tons of people living here who are transplants from 'back east' with their loyalties still intact. Hockey just isn't that coveted out here. Basketball...yes, Baseball...yes, Hockey....no (at least not yet). The playoffs are not shown on local stations, it barely ever gets mentioned on the local sports shows, and when it does, the sportscasters cannot pronounce Giguere to save their lives. It just doesn't matter to the vast majority of native californians. Hopefully, that can change. I got tickets for the two very sad games in the 03 playoffs, the day of the game. The only thing thrown on the ice at that time was an occasional octopus when Detroit scored. We actually had Ducks fans asking us what that was and why they were doing it? I haven't been able to score playoff tickets this year, since the bandwagon has taken away the seats, and while I would have loved to see the 5-0 rout....I would have been extremely embarassed to see the trash fly, and the cheering during the injury. All you would find at the Joe is utter silence and respect for the injured, and huge applause when that player got up under his own power. In short, THROW OCTOPI, NOT TRASH!!!! PS-I'm also a newb to the site, but Detroit will always be in my heart. Am wearing my #16 jersey at work today as i write this.
