It was said in the 2nd post, loyalty in the NHL died with Yzerman. The NHL is now like the rest of professional sports where players go where the money is. It's just a reflection of american sports. Just took a few more years to catch up.

Does anyone out there in Detroitland have an extra Konstantinov/Mnatsakanov Believe patch that they'd be willing to part with/sell? Send me a mesage.

Scott Niedermayer Considering Retirement
Bad Vlad Forever replied to RedWingsFanatic's topic in General
Well, everyone here has heard that LA is a possibility, but I've also heard that Giguere said he'd never go to L.A. (which probably means he will, ha). Guess we'll have to wait and see. I know he/his family love it in OC, but money talks.... I also read a comment on the Ducks board that they thought Selanne may go to the Red Wings if he doesn't retire, and how they'd disown him if he did. Now THAT'S a little far fetched. -
I'll reserve my judgment until I see a Red Wings one, but if they're anything like the style or design of those All Star ones, I'm not going to be a big fan of them. But hey, I didn't like the new NHL rules either a few years ago.

Scott Niedermayer Considering Retirement

Nieds retires = $2 mil cap room Selanne retires = $3.75 mil cap room Giguere goes to L.A. = $4 mil cap room Ducks getting their wings clipped = priceless lol -
The Wings flat out broke a part of it off in 98. It happens all the time. Jewlers are called in, things get fixed.

My contention has always been "No hockey south of the mason-dixon line, or west of Colorado". Basically, if you can't play ice hockey outside, you can't have a team, and move more teams back to Canada. I think I'd let the Kings stay just because they have a tiny bit of historical importance, and I need at least one local place to go see the Wings play! I know, I know.....total snobby hockety purist

Not only is this a bad idea, they should bring back the two line pass rule

Yeah, I remember it all too well. If you can imagine a whole city of people heartroken, it's pretty horrible. BAD VLAD FOREVER!!!

The local report here said 20,000. Regardless, that's a freking joke. This is not a hockey town. Never has been, never will be. People do not live and die with the Ducks here. It's not water cooler talk the next day, it doesn't even take the lead three stories on the news the night of the final win. People here find out they have a successful team, and they get excited "GO SPORT" "BEAT THOSE OTHER GUYS". This woman I know here told my wife "How bout my Ducks?" (knowing we're Red Wing fans)My wife says "Yeah, they're pretty good this year, and doing well in the playoffs", the woman replies "The playoffs have already started?". No kidding I don't care how bad you say traffic is on a Saturday afternoon in the OC, a million + people in downtown Detroit stiffles the whole city. Less roads, less infrastructure. People parked miles away and walked. In a land of 12-13 million people, you can scrape together 20,000? I stand behind VladyIBELIEVE16 when she says that no one cares here. ...and let's not bring San Jose and LA into this. There's two baseball successful teams in the area as well, and that doesn't deter from their fanbase at all. In short, I saw the news report, I shook my head ,and put on the Wings / Avs March 97 bloodbath game on DVD and remembered what hockey should be.

My summer adult league just started last weekend. Am leaving in a couple hours for tonights game. It's totally how I get through until NHL starts back up. Coping skills! That and I've been watching the 4 DVD Red Wings set relentlessly. I'm playing forward this year, which is new for me. I've taken shifts at winger before, but never played dedicated positions up front. I think they'll need me back tonight, so I might volunteer myself for that. So far, I'm a stranger in a strange land. This is a new team I picked up on just for the summer, and they're all a bunch of ex-roller guys and Ducks fans. We wear black, so I went out and bought a Red Wings CCM black practice jersey so I can pretend I'm a Red Wing. Anyways, don't rech for the arsenic just yet.....jump in a league. For me, it always reminds me of the finer points of hockey, and the overall fun and greatness of the game that you just can't get from 50 rows up.

How about game 6 where the Wings didn't show up until the 3rd period? Was that the refs fault too? Or did they screw themselves with their lack of competetive play? Drives me nuts when people blame refs for the outcome. My neighbors are all Ducks fans, and all they did is whine about how the refs were out to get the Ducks all playoff long as well. I think they finally shut their mouths last night.
