Think about it man... if we've overachieved this far through so many drastic changes to the core, through so many injuries and with so many inexperienced players in the lineup then why would we suddenly fall apart? Come playoff time if we are more healthy then not and if we have some of the kinks ironed out then we have the chance to overachieve in the playoffs as well... it is very possible

All good things come to and end but it doesn't have to be this year. If we can gain some consistency who knows whats possible... see L.A. last season. It seems the bubble teams are the hardest to face because they are already in fight for your life mode while the run away teams are in coast mode. As much as I wanted to see us join in the fun and excitement of the trade deadline I am glad to see Holland didn't kneejerk any trades and over pay for a piece that probably wouldn't make or break our success.... What I am piss at is I was hoping to see Filp traded (was hoping for a 1st round possibility) but it seems we will either orverpay to keep him or see him walk like Hudler did.

If we can get a 1st round pick I say trade him... he is not even close to being worth the 5 mill he is rumoured to be looking for. Maybe he will have his breakout finally if he gets his 5 Mill? If not he can join the "bad contract line" featuring: J. Franzen - V. Fullapooluh - M. Samuelsson C. Colaiacovo - K. Quincey

Imagine having a real true Power Forward on the team again I almost forget what they look like. Believe me I'm all for Iggy signing here for the right price.... been praying for it to happen for years!

For the right price I would love this... but Calgary will be looking for too much and teams in a better position to run for the cup will pay more.

Soory y'all... I didn't read the whole post so if someone else asked about this forgive me. With this teams up and down play and so many holes to fill and the fact that Datsyuk might be calling it quits soon anyway maybe now would be the time to trade him and get some high end picks or prospects in return to help with the futrue? I dont want to see this happen but it could be usefull.

Our team has become too European imho. Before you lay into me hear me out. I am NOT saying we need to eliminate all foreign players or they are good for nothing. What I am saying is we need to restore a better balance. Our style of play has become too predictable and with a lower skill level its become easier to break... we get out worked, and out battled. We need more strength on at least the top 2 lines. Franzen makes me sick... to be that big and strong and have the ability to be a legit power forward and NOT do it is something he should hang his head in shame for... he's got everything needed except for the nards to make it happen. Cleary and Bert are too old. We need to add some BALLS back into our lineup. Not saying goons, not saying it will be easy to find either.... just what I feel we need to get rolling again. Even our current D could start coming together more if we were harder to play against up front. I'm sick of seeing the 1 and done junk on our power play, more muckers and dirty boys in there fighting and less of the ticky tacky crap that may have worked in the past but it making us look stupid now.

Trade Filpula before he "Hulder's" for more money.... He would probably bring us a decent return. He'll never be the star we need him to be.

Another fire Babcock thread.... Who would we replace him with? He's aruguably the best coach in the league who has new assistant coaches, just lost 2 top 4 Defensemen (1 being one of the best of all time), Just lost one of the best powerplay specialists in the game, and who is constantly losing regular roster players to injury. How can you blame him with the revolving door of players he has to work with? We are losing alot of games due to mistakes made on the ice... the guy can't go on the ice and stop them from making stupid decisions. There are many factors to the roller coaster ride we are in for and it has nothing to do with Babcock. If we fire Babcock then we might as well get rid of Dats and Z for not scoring everygame, and we might as well fire Howard for not stopping every puck. Hell let's fire Illitch while we are at it for letting all of this happen to a team he owns. The team has some major needs that need to be addressed that Babcock as a coach cannot fill.

It's not the answer but may be a start. We need some big players to come in and it will cost to get them and I think we should look to make some significant changes.

Lets get rid of the best coach in the league who has done nothing but win everywhere he's coached. Seriously, he's doing a great job and we are lucky to have him. He's changing his strategy to get the most out of what he has to work with, which is the right thing to do.

I really miss Stuart... He was an awesome Red Wing! Solid defender and the only other one on our team that threw these kind of hits.

I tend to agree with you. Not everyone has the instinct or spirit to fight but he can still play like a Power Forward by finishing his checks with some authoritah, mucking in the corners and driving the net... He can to all of that, he is a big strong guy just needs to learn to play like one.

Tootoo will be a great Red Wing and give us what we have been needing for some time now. He was a ***** to play against and now he he will his thing for us... similar to Chelios. Welcome Tootoo! I think there should be a ban on the Tootoo train whisles in Detroit though
