Bertuzzi is great... He has found his role and is fitting right in. Even when is isn't scoring he plays hard both ways. I hope he keeps it up and he plays out his days in Detroit. Atta boy Big Bert!

Hudler Haters - Don't let facts get in the way...
The Secret replied to stevkrause's topic in General
Exactly, the team did not struggle out of the gate because of Hudler and I don't think the team would suddenly collapse with him being traded for a more physical player if available. My hope would be that with his game looking to be on the upswing his value could increase and bring in a good trade. I'm not suggesting trading him for the sake of trading him or trading him for nothing ...although I will not forgive the little bastard taking us to arbitration then leaving the best and most loyal franchise in pro sports for the KHL only to come crawling back a year later  . I would love to see a trade for a player of equal skill but different skill set better suited for the post season when Jiri will likely vanish to the KHL again. If the right player is there I hope Kenny shows invisible Jiri the same courtesy and trades his ass.... See ya! -

My thread was merged but I did think it was something new...I wasn't aware it had been around for so long... DOH! Still think the whole idea is pretty *** anyway

My link Pretty lame gimmick I think... our superhero is really bad too!

I don't often agree with a lot of what you say but you are spot on here. I also agree with a lot of what the article suggests also. I am not pro-goon but I am all for having some guys on the team that do exactly as GMR mentions above.... have some balls and stick up for your team mates. We all saw Hall get leveled by Doughty and we all saw his mates sticking up for him... and that was a clean hit... Our player are too wuss to do it on dirty s***. I'll say again, I don't see any benefit of having a pure goon whose sole purpose is fighting, it doesn't stop or deter anything imho, but I do think this team would greatly benefit from having some players that can play, finish check and stick up for one another! I'd be happy right now to see guys like Franzen step into some checks, Or Filppula learning to deliver a solid check, Where did killer Kronwall go? Remember him and his boarderline illegal hits knocking players out? I thought Salei was going to add some grit but I don't see it? Looks like we have some young kids in the system that could be bringing that element when they make it to the big team but we could use 1 or 2 right now and I think it would spice the game up some and allow us to push back.

I don't think this is even being looked at if Osgood were looking like he were going to return.

00 would be my vote

He is a better goalie then Howard IMHO. Howards was a s*** show in the playoffs last year at the worst time too. A fresh start in Detroit could be just what Nabby needs... I love this if it happens. Goalie 1a and 1b again... dueling for the starting spot making each other fight harder!

Holland Trying to Bring Larsson in as Howard's Backup?

I'm hoping Larsson is the second coming of Pelle Lindbergh, one of my fav goalie of all time (minus the short playing career) -
Holland Trying to Bring Larsson in as Howard's Backup?
The Secret replied to VM1138's topic in General
I would love this personally... Would be a goal tending tandem that would demand performance. Howard knowing that Larsson is right behind him pushing to take his spot would be the perfect motivating factor for both to continually do better... moreso then an old Ozzie. -
What a beauty! Got to love the resiliency of youth to be able to jump right up after hitting a wall like that.

Chelios wasn't exactly known for his class when we picked him up... that was a tough pill to swallow for all, or at least most, at first. He had himself a pretty good career here in Detroit

At this point in time rolling the dice on MacDonald over Osgood might get you ahead. Rolling the dice on a young healthy and hungry swede with a big mouth and a desire to play and win would also be a bet that would get you ahead over a should be retired vet that "feels great out there" and "is going in the right direction" yet continues to fail when he gets his chance to show he still has it. How am I trolling? I've been a member here for years. Don't trolls join just for the sake of starting arguments with people then leave? Unless by trolling you mean not wearing your brand of rosey red coloured glasses and sharing the same boner for Osgood as you then yes, I am a troll.

How does this help him and his s***ty play today? How big was his NHL resume at this point and what had he proven in the AHL up until then in his 4 years beside that he could be mediocre? Well he came to a new country to play a very different game and was giving the resident 4 year man a serious run for his money... not bad for a noob Maybe true but so long as its not negatively affecting anything who cares if he is a little selfish? Amen... that is why i am here debating with you ying yangs and not making millions Would be very bold of Miller to say such things especially given the fact that they share the same locker room. Do I think Babcock would appreciate the comments? He'd probably ask for it to be seen on the ice and call him out to prove it

What Avery does is incredibly stupid. What Hudler did leaving DRW for the KHL was incredibly stupid... Larsson answering his question imo was not incredibly stupid... could have been done with a little more tact but I can't say that I blame him for not wanting to spend the next 4 years toiling in the minors and I don't want to see another good player get away due to loyalty factor on player that is beyond his time... sometimes you have to gamble and this is another case that I'd roll the dice!

...want to have some more fun? Try counting how many times Osgood and all his past glory has s*** the bed the past 2 years. Wait, nevermind. It was pointed out a few posts ago he had a good game against LA. Go Osgood!
-
Pointing out the facts is not disrespectful if they are true... perhaps the time and place they are stated could lend to being disrespectful but he was asked during an interview and gave his opinion. Had he pulled an Avery I could agree but what was he supposed to do, Lie about the facts? What does he owe Osgood? Osgood's career was what it was but it also is what it is and what it is right now is denying a legit young player the chance to make his name. The kid was giving Howard a run for his money in the AHL coming to a new country and playing in a different style/team/ everything... How long was Howard already in the AHL at that time?
-
He was asked a question and gave an honest answer... Him pointing out the facts isn't any more disrespectful then Osgood pretending he can still play. This year is set but next year there needs to be a better duo in net and I think Larsson could provide that at a minimum and more potentially!
