I Missed that post... can you link me to it? Osgood might have some thing left in the tank (although it has yet to be seen) but Larsson is filled to the rim with piss and vinegar and we need that more than an aging goaltender fighting to prove he still has a little something possibly. I want to see a healthy tug of war (like Hasek/Osgood had) not one guy getting worn out and the other "finding his rythm"

Well I might not do it and you might not do it but Larsson see's where he and the team can benefit and spoke his mind when asked about it. Keep in mind that something is always lost in translation... perhaps in Swedish it didn't come across as harsh?!

Osgood's success is in his past and what he's shown the recent few seasons is that he does not know or have what it takes to win anymore. Osgood always saying, "I feel great out there" and "I'm going in the right direction" while he is always losing is whats idiotic. An eager young goalie voicing his wanting to contribute now and pointing out the obvious (that he is better suited for Osgood's current job) is a tad cocky but he is wanting his chance. I say let Osgood retire and let the healthy competition between Howard and Larsson flourish as it will only make the both of them play harder and better. Howard having Osgood behind him barely able to handle the odd relief game is not going to serve as a motivating factor nor will it give him the breathers he requires.

I like his comments and he is 100% spot on... Osgood is done! I think they should give Larsson a shot next season as Howards backup to start and see if he can steal the show from him. So long as its a healthy competition and not in bad blood... do it! Right now Howard plays well enough and has to be over-played because Osgood is garbage. It's time to move on and why not let Larsson have his chance?!

Yes, I agree with you. Who in their right mind would leave the best organization in all the Pro sports, especially to go to the KHL? The same team most players take less money to stay playing for! They should have taken him back and traded him immediately IMHO.

I've heard about this for years being an NFL fan but would have never ventured to make one.. Some at work made one this year for our Canadian thanksgiving lunch and it is sooooooooo good! I would highly recommend it. Oh ya, Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American friends celebrating today! Cheers

Trade Him....not Leino style. Hudler can play, he can (and will) be valuable on another team but his seat was taken when he opted to leave for more money... too bad, so sad. You leave the best org in Pro Sports for more money to come crying back and find you are no longer a good fit... Loser! I think they trade him but get something suitable in return not just trade him for the sake of trading him.

Bertuzzi was here, chose to leave for greener pastures, bounced around and was lucky enough to be brought back...he has something to offer that we currently need (skill, size and strength)... Hudler wasn't as lucky, especially to the team that brought him in an gave him his chance. To me when Hudler defected he was Filpula's equal/competitor... now Fil has a progressed and has a home and Hudler needs to prove himself all over again and hasn't done it...and more so has serious competition that has shown him up (Abbie, Cleary, Eaves, even Miller)

I really agree with you on this comment! Last year Hudler would have been a very important player to us... this year he simply is not! On another team... like maybe Edmonton or definitely L.A., he would be an important player again and bring them something they need and possibly flourish again.... my guess is that where ever he may end up he will always regret leaving Detroit...I think he will get traded!

This is easily the best organization in pro hockey and possibly in all of pro sports. Players in "decline" or "too old" or even "not living up to expectation" are brought to Detroit, treated like family, given an achievable role and flourish. From this a level of Player/Organizational loyalty has developed to the point that players want to stay here, take less money to stay here and do well by staying here... Yes, this re-hashed argument again! Hudler is the rare exception that has chosen to leave for "greener pastures" only to find he just left paradise... he does not have a place here anymore. He has not yet shown why we should keep him and bring him back into the family. The Leino example is perfect... Leino wouldn't be the same player here and flourished elsewhere, like Primeau-donna did. Hudler might also and he might bring us something we can utilize! I'd risk it!

The guy is not in decline he is on a s***ty team that always has problems scoring yet he is a yearly 30+ goal scorer. In Calgary he never has anyone good to play with. Iggy, on a good team, would find new life and be appreciated! Iginla deserves to be traded to a good team... man I wish that team was in Detroit, he'd be an incredible red Wing!

I've said it before... Hudler showed his true colours when he defected to the KHL and when he saw the grass was not greener came crawling back :thumbdown: I hope that loyalty is returned when he starts to play well and is then traded to some s***ty that won't ever make the playoffs.

Howard over Hasek.... Hahaha ya right, what have you been smoking? Howard is doing well on this team, he's improved since last year and that is all we can ask for. To the question if goalie are better now then ever... I'd say no but they are alot bigger and waaaaaay more padded then ever. Goalies years ago had to rely on skill and reflex and now they rely on butterflies and positioning (Thaaank Patty Waaah). Shrink the pads and see where the good goalies are!

I was kidding back with ya... sort of. I'm a proud Canadian for sure and proud of our hockey players mos def. But American hockey players have come along too and they play a very similar style... That Gold medal olympic game was the best example. I do appreciate the European game as well, how can you not watching Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg do their thing. But we have saturated with European players who want to make the pretty play and shy away from the tough, ugly parts of the game... My favourite Wings teams had a better balance of the 2 and I like the direction we look to be going in because it looks to be just that. I'll take Cleary or Abdelkader on this team everyday over Hudler... Hudler showed me his true colours when he defected to KHL and then came crawling back... f*** him, he's been replaced by bigger, better suited and hungrier players.

I am proud... Why not be proud of our Canadian boys? The Yankee boys play very similar and look at what a less skilled but grittier and tougher Abdelkader has done compared to a highly skilled but wussy Hudler? I'd be proud of that if I were a Yank. ...hell I'm not a American and I am proud of it. I'd even trade Hudler for another Abdelkader (even if he is Amercian )

Danny is one of our only muckers... we need his style even when he isn't producing like he is now but lets hope he can continue on and show his value on the stat sheet also... Way to go Danny Boy!

I never liked him... lots of ppl did, and I had many debates on it but just never liked him. Great shot but.. the aim, pains me to think about it still

Seems to be invisible Hudler for now but I wouldn't be surprised if he and Draper have a competition when he returns. I'm just so glad Samuelsson and Kopecky are off our ice!

I'm with you... Abby brings some young North America to that 3rd line and its been just what the Doctor ordered! Hudler may have more skill but Abby has the heart and style we need... trade Hudler and get something we need in return! Keep it up and stay healthy Abby!
