Sign me up here too... Bert has been great and noticeably seems to have improved a lot on his play without the puck hustling to get position and help out. The whole second line has been amazing, let hope they keep it going and the Fil starts to find the back of the net some more too. Great job Bert!

I'd think I'd take Kipper over Howard.... he's been the backbone in Calgary for years. I don't think there is a goalie in the league right now that has been ridden as hard for as long a Kipper has. On a good team he would be lights out!

No kidding, what a boring game! This team need to step in to some NHL quality shots... not just perimeter crap toward the net. Same thing every year though

Man, I spent most of my life in Windsor which has a very large base of the most obnoxious Leafs fans and have had to deal with a life time of stupid comments from them year in and year out.... despite the fact that Detroit is one of the most successful teams of the last 20 years and the leafs have been crap since as long as my memory goes. Wanna talk about something that is getting old is hearing these stupid comments. The Wings-Leafs rivalry is alive and well in Windsor and I am a Leafs hater because of it... Piss on the Leafs and the Habs are next in line for most of the same reason!!

I hear the city of Toronto is planning a parade for the good start they have had. I've also been told that its pretty much a done deal that they will also win the Cup this year... I guess we have next season to look forward too.

I'm not completely sold on Howard as of yet but what I do like about him is that he seems to let those crappy games stay behind him and not in his head... I'm not sure that is something you can teach?!

Maybe if Howard played like an NHL goalie last game he'd have gotten the nod? He sucked last night! I hope they both play well and push each other to play better... unlike last year when Osgood stunk and Howard was better.

I'm just given them the gears a bit because it was the 3rd line that was supposed to be the backbreaking line but our 2nd line has stolen the show. I never realized what a big dude Modano is, he moves pretty good for an old fella still. I'm sure your right and they will gel soon enough but last night the 4th line was much more noticable to me... nice shorty by Helmer and Eaves!

Who does this Bertuzzi guy think he is anyway? This is supposed to be Filpula's break out season and Bertuzzi is stealing the show! How selfish of him. Your right Bertuzzi looks great as does that whole second line. Bert seems happy to be playing in Detroit and seems to love his new line and role. Now if only that all powerful 3rd line to show up one of these games.

Just watched Malts give his retirement speech and got choked up along with him. Thanks for the great career and for being a part of one of the most memorable lines in Detroit. Malts is, was and always will be Red Wing and I'm glad he's taken a job within the organization to stay home where he belongs. Good luck Malts.

If Bowman was coach #1 then Babcock would have to be #1A. This is great news to have the greatest coach in the league for at least 4 more years.

I only caught the 3rd here and that whole second line looks great and I am happy to read that Filpula is looking so good. Bertuzzi is looking good too from the bit i have seen and its good to see Osgood play a game that doesn't see 4 goals scored on him... Great start for all!

I don't remember that fight sorry. Don't get me wrong, I am not anti-fighting I'm just not cool with having players that can do nothing but fight. We need players that can fight but also play hockey too.

I really don't think a fight like that would have cooled anything down... I didn't see the game but a 4-0 opening game humiliation could turn things sour and no fight will relieve that sting... unless by winning a fight you are credited with goals? Maybe it could be a new rule and then having a meathead like Downey would make sense. No i did invent that to prove a point... and thought it was pretty funny too envisioning a WWF tag-team like thing.... but you did say having Downey on the bench a player could change on the fly after a cheapshot!

Had we signed Downey for just such an occasion this would have been the time when Datsyuk would have skated over to the bench to tag in Downey who would then hop the boards and fight for him right?
