....Jose Theodore, Carey Price, Andrew Raycroft I was not ever 100% confident in Howard and I thought he had multiple area's in need of big improvement but he did seem to have that calm about him and did bounce back from horrible games. I think after having improved even a bit on those glaring problem area's he could be just enough goalie this team will need with the ability to put on a show now and then... very similar to the career of Chris Osgood.

I agree with you 100% on this, time will tell if Leino was having a hot streak or found a team he fit better... I suppose I am bitter that Leino looked like a house leaguer in Detroit and went onto look like a hero in Philly. You're absolutely right that he just didn't seem to fit our system which is very role based... in Philly he was able to do what he wanted, it seemed, where in Detroit he was asked to play a certain role and couldn't. Reminds be of Primeau and how I hated him in Detroit but went onto have a pretty good career in Philly also.

Drew Miller is a great plug... I didn't mind having him on the team but I think we have seen the max of what he can do. We need to gamble now and then and I would gamble on Ritola at the expense of a plug like Miller without even thinking about it. Look at what happened with Leino... he was given time but perhaps not enough. I was one who wanted him off the team but its proven to be the wrong choice. At least give Ritola an opportunity, there will be other Miller types available if the gamble doesnt work.

I'm like you, I only cheer for the Wings but I am finding that I still read about everything Stevie does and wish him well. Shows you the impact Stevie has on us all... he is forever a Red Wing no matter where he is. Lets hope that one day he comes back home where he belongs!

Modano is too old! We need to get tougher on the 3rd and 4th lines not older. Unless Modano comes for real cheap...like so cheap that you couldn't turn it down but I doubt that would happen. I would pass on this! YESSSSSSSSSSS! I think he looks like a decroted piece of crap.

Born and raised in Windsor for 1 and there have been a host of awesome Canadians on the team ... just look up at the rafters next time your there at the Joe to see just the top of the iceberg of great Canadian Red Wings of the past. It really started with Stevie and Probie though for me!

I hope he is the good Canadian 1st rounder I have been hoping for.... sucks that we have to wait 3-5 years to see him though.

The other thought I have is that recently there have been alot of "potential" top rate european players brought into our farm system only to leave for home when they hit some bumps on the road in NA. Maybe its time to find a few local diamonds in the rough?

None of the above mentioned are factors affecting the cap of the current roster at the moment but it makes me wonder what he is looking at in terms of filling what we need right now and moreso when looking at the names in the list.

Yes I agree.. Maltby, Ilary, last season add Willy, maybe Miller they are plugs of the wrong kind. I'm not for getting a bonafide goon that can't do anything but fight but some money needs to be spent on what our grind line needs... players that will grind, hit and fight on occasion. At this point I would be happy if our 4th line had players that will finish their checks with some authority and play some decent offense.

No, your not alone on this. I fully agree with you and I do talk up North American and more importantly Canadian players. I'm Canadian and I Love the way we play the game and I miss having good Canadian players in the mix on our team. I don't hate euro's but for the most part they do play a different style then NA players. My opinion is that we need a better mix! A better mix will give us a more exciting product on the ice... we haven't had what I am looking for since losing Yzerman, Shannahan, Old Mac, a Prime Grind Line. I'd rather see moves made to bring in a Carcillo or Asham rather then sign an unknown Filpula especially since i am not satisfied yet with the current Filpula.

I was turned off by the fact the media made it sound like Bert was toying with the idea of free agency after stating he'd play for Detroit or retire...anyway Glad to have him back although I hoped he would have signed for a bit less.

This would be a big mistake in my opinion. The idea was to get tougher on the 3rd and 4th lines and although I like Matlby and appreciate what he did for us he will not provide anything we need... Hate to say it but even Kopa-Kopecky would provide more for us then Maltby at this stage in his career. Common Kenny... think about this one seriously!

I like Pronger... he is like what Chelios would have been before coming to Detroit. He's a good player with a nasty streak at times. Anyway he has been a winner where ever he has played and he has been a killer in this years playoffs, minus one game. Expect a huge game from Pronger and the Flyers and hope for a game 7 loss to the s***Hawks and their sad sad fans!

I have nothing against Hossa and there are a few Hawks that I like even, I just think it would be way too funny to see Hossa "going where he has the best chance" for the 3rd consecutive time and blowing it... that and it will make me sick to see a db like Kane hoist the Cup! I think the Hossa curse is alive and well and the big D in Philly are going knock the little white mouthpiece out of Kanes big yapper!
