Frank, This roster has the talent and depth to compete with any team in this league. Coach B needs to figure this out and how to make them work. On the Holland note... he has pissed me off with some of his decisions (Franzen vs Hossa) but if you step back and look at the big picture this team is what it is because of his mastry as a human GM. Human because noone is perfect but there is NO other team in the league that has done what he has. In fact, there are numerous teams that point outright to him and the Red Wings at the model they are after. Look at our version of a rebuild and compare it say to the Edmonton Oilers version.... its easy to see how we as Wings fans have gotten spoiled over the years of winning. Don't forget that crazy salary caps... is doing what it was intended as teams are far closer matched as a whole and there are alot more teams with a chances to win... A hot goalie, team comes together at the right time and look out. The most dangerous teams from my point of view that past few years are the ones that catch fire in time to make the playoffs just in time, they are then in play off mode when the others are getting in. Holland is not the prpblems here. The problems lies between the coach and the players... both have FAR better in them and they had better figure it out together NOW!

Babs has alot of coaching left in him and may have even been able to surpass Bowman had he chosen not to be the mechanic fixnig a broken Mustang with no parts and a plunger!

Dude, look at his team. Look at what they have coming up soon. The guy is not a miracle worker and his message from the start was "its going to take time". It's not like he lied saying his presence somehow magically will translate into instant success. It was designed to get your attention by a bitter leaf fan because they need something or someone to finger at all times when things aren't going their way. Even though Babcock made it clear that what had to happen in T.O. will take a very long time and be a huge challenge it seems that mesage went over certain people heads. They expected Babcock to come in and take a PoS and miraculously make it into a deliscious soup over night... Yet another Stanley Cup parade foiled by reality! He left the Wings to take on the biggest challenge in the NHL, let him have a little taste of something good before he goes back to tweaking the recipe of his Poop soup! Maybe take the time to realize that he will be offered other similar type jobs in the future and be proud that it is your coach that is being hailed the best man for the job!

Settled, Then from now on we should win by default every year and I am using this opportunity to throw Justin Trudeau's name in for consideration to coach team Canada's 3rd Olympic gold in a row (...that would be pretty bad ass too)

You coach and practice and get to know and tweak the same team for months vs. You get a team of unknown players and have weeks to get them to win a tournament against the very best in the world... one loss in the finals and you're out. Not saying it is easy to win the Cup... it is not at all but winning a gold medal let alone 2 back to back... How is that not apparent? I never said being Canada's coach makes you the best in the world btw. It just so happen's that for now, it is true!

It's easier to win a Gold medal then a Stanley Cup is it? Really? Explain how that is. You keep ignoring that the chosen leaders of these useless National teams (normally they are the best players in the NHL for their respective countries of origin) are chosing Babcock again over Quenville.

Sorry. I don't think you measure success solely on the number of Stanley Cups you have won. To me the way Babcock coached some of these teams even into the play offs (the one's that had no business to be there) is as big a measure of success if not more. The greatest challenge Quenville's hawks faced on route to the Cup a few years ago was Babcock's limping, battered and bruised Red Wings. Team Canada chose Babcock because they believe him to be the best despite others having more cups.

The guy wins is the point. It shows his ability to coach no matter where. The old "team was stacked" thing.... Every Canadian Olympic team is stacked but they don't always win, why is that? Takes one hell of a coach to manage the room of ego's and in such a short period of time get them organized and working together enough to win against 4 -5 other stacked teams and their coaches. That is an impressive feat of coaching strength. Now let's look at the team's Babcock worked with compared to Quenville and his 25 stanley cups. Chicago had to suck hairy balls for some time to get that team + 2 drops of Bowman blood and Quenville has done a fantastic job with what he was given. Red Wings glory days after the Dead WIng era ended years ago. The last few seasons especially Babcock worked with far less talent then Chicago + a zillion injuries \ alot of young and inexperienced youth = Yet another feat of coaching strength getting a depleted team into the play offs. 2 of those teams had no business even being there yet they were and they were highly competitive losing in 7 games to the evntual stanlet cup champions for that year. It's true, I am a Babcock slappy... I think he is the best in the world, apparently the powers that be in Canadian hockey believe it so also or they'd choose Quenville and how ever many cups he has to lead (but they don't)

There is nothing better then a solid 1 - 2 knockout tandem. Share the ice unless one starts out playing the other.... keeps 2 goalie's fresh for the play offs.

Look at his resume... That should be enough. The fact that Hockey Canada are choosing him again, another solid indication of his ability. Truth is, the Wings missed the play offs 2 and 3 years back if it were for his ability to get the most out of players. He is the best coach in the world, that does not mean he is a miracle worker. Toronto is a team that has few good players and NOTHING in the pipeline. Hate him if you want, think he is traitor, a miserable prick whatever but you can't let that cloud the fact that is is the winningest coach in Red Wing history. 1 tim Stanley Cup Champion, 2 time Olympic gold Champion, and a World Cup champion... Winning is in his blood as it is in Bowman blood also.

As mentioned earlier... this is not a bad team it is a poorly prepared team! Coach better get his head out of the AHL and figure out how to win in the bigs

They had Summer camp and a pre-season to honeymoon and get to know one another.... wait, most of the team already played for him so they should already know each other very well. I'm not calling for Blashill to get out of town but he had better change whatever he is doing because it is not working. They don't look prepared, they don't look fast, they barely even get shots on net! This is a better team for reason I have said in other threads and these early losses to crap team will come back to bite us if things don't change big time as of yesterday.

Each one of these losses to s***e teams could end up being nails in the coffin down the road. What ever Blashill's plan is up until now it is not working... maybe it did in the AHL but so far it's a belly flop in the big league. Didn't the team finally respond in Vancouver after Zetterberg let them have it? .... after ZETTERBERG let them have it!! He is the Captain and he must lead but the guy has never been known for verbally blasting the team. That was Babcock doing that. This team does not seem prepared enough and it shows at game time. I think Blashill can be a fine coach but his learning curve better be a very steep one. And yes, I do believe this is a better team... many young player have gotten some very valuable experience (regular season and playoffs), we FINALLY got that big RH defenseman we have been needing and it has been a non-factor, we now have 2 capable starting goalie's, Zetterberg is looking better then he has in years, Franzen is better on the shelf then on the ice. I'm seeing a very ill prepared team then what we are use too.... Where is our #2 PP from last season? Never going to have that again until they consistantly get shots on net. Not looking to run Blashill or any player out of town but we need to start seeing steady and consistent improvement each and every game not only when our mild mannered Captain gets pissed off.
