10 days off for Osgood shows that they have total confidence in him doesn't it? There nothing wrong with his mechanics! Now what will all the Osgood worshippers say? What is the excuse now? Having him in net playing like he is was affecting the over-all play of the team.... Bye bye! Hope he can find himself with his time off but it should have happened sooner then this IMHO.

WOW, this comes as a huge surprise... joke. I am really happy they are doing this. I don't know nor do i care what Osgoods problem is but like I have said before practice is the place for Osgood to figure it out, not in games where his piss poor play affects the over-all confidence of the team. Now the D can worry about improving their play with less worry about a zillion s***ty goals getting past Osgood. I'm a little disappointed they gave the nod to Howard over Larsson. I am excited to see what Larsson can do and I have not been impressed at all with Howard with the games I have seen him in. However, right now Howard should look incredible following the s*** cloud Osgood has left behind him. Let's hope Osgood's mental vacation gets him in a better place and Conklin can continue to improve and show he can bring us back. I'm pulling for Conks/Howard combo to impress.

Fighting takes a killer instinct that some just aren't born with. Thats not to say that every player you mentioned couldn't occassionally lower the boom with a crushing check. What drives me nuts is to see little girlie men like filipoolah who tucks tail and runs every single time... never even throws an F-bomb let alone a knuckle bomb. Or the sammy special when he gently throws a body part in the way of an opposing player only to be knock around himself. Maltby is a puss but he does throw his weight occassionally. I remember when we got to the level of being able to throw checks as a child playing hockey, every one couldn't wait to be able to hit people, some became great at it some not but everyone hit when they could.

Tootoo is a bit of a doucher, and I hate him but I would gladly take him on our roster and learn to like him while he did his s***e for us unstead of against us.

I agree with you on this and that is why I see no need for an enforcer or goon.... not the way the game is played today. Plus, we don't need anything except for some of the guys on our current roster to grow pair and finish the odd check with some authority and shove a guy out of their face when he is nose to nose with them, and occasionally hold their stick with 2 hands and deliver it to the lower back of guys camped out in front of the net (like homer receives constantly). If a few more of our players would play with just a little more bite in their game it would make a nice difference without having to add anyone else.

I just read more on this "Big Scandal" after my last post.... Who really gives a flying f*ck, really? The Montreal media just wants as much drama as it can possibly have. So far, at very least there were a few players who have a sketchy aquaintance. Why make it sound like its a humiliation to the entire world because a few of their players know a drug dealer. Stuff like this makes me appreciate being a Wings fan even more. Can you imagine the embarassement you would have to deal with on a regular basis being a Canadiens fan? Oh, Happy 100 year ReHabs!

Osgood makes a few great saves per game and also let's in a few softies, or "bad bouces" per game as well. For the most part Conklin is just able to keep more of the "bad bounces" out of the net and under control. Osgood's head in not in the game, nor is he playing the game like he can. His mechanics are off, he is frustrated, he is trying to do too much. Kovalev was given a few days away from hockey to get his head together... maybe this is what they should give to Osgood too? Some time away from the pressure and spot light to decompress and come back with a fresh start... sounds crazy but it just might work? Or just continue to shove him out there to continue to implode game in and game out... that might work too? I also do not believe the D plays any different with Osgood in net compared to Conklin. Conklin is saving their mistakes, Osgood is not able to.

I do not think Steve Ott makes team Canada... not even close.

You really think Iggy is over-rated? I think he is an incredible player and leader and has earned everything he's gotten. Don't forget he play's for Calgary and has had few surrounding players to help him yet he consistently puts up great numbers. he is a fantastic Power forward IMO.

Try watching the play offs this year and see how the game changes. Its tougher, faster, more physical and more emotional. No-one here is asking for a team of meatheads that only go out to fight and nothing more. We needs hockey players who can and will defend themselves and their team when required too. You mommy is probably a very important person to you right? If are with her when some one comes and harasses your mommy are you going to turn your back and walk away? You'd stand up for her and fight if necessary to protect her, because she is important to you, she's your family. It's the same on the ice, they are family and important to each other and need to stick up for one another when necessary. No one wants dirt kicked in their face but if nothing is done to stop it then it will continue to happen.

Yes, I agree with tjhis post 100%. I'm also happy to see that Hossa will drop them when required. No one wants him to turn into a brawler but at least he is willing to defend himself and his team mates and he did just fine.... I wouldn't ask for anything more of him. It would be nice to have a few others that can and will stand up for themselves and their team. Atta boy Hoss. Great post skacore.

The frustrating thing for me is that we aren't asking him to carry the team like Kipprusoff has too, or to be as dominating as Luongo. Conklin looks like an all-star next to Osgood. All we need him to do is be his old mediocre best... thats it. I hope he can find at least that before too long.

I'm on your side. Perhaps the slow start and mistakes by our usually stellar defense has a small part but the big difference lies squarely in the goalie's play.
