Oh man, thats too funny! Geez! HAHAHAHA!

Maybe a bit of frustration because we didn't end it last night but really what is there to be nervous about. If it weren't for MAF, and a bad clear by Kronwall we are still drinking Champagne from the Cup right now. We were down right horrific in the first but after that MAF was the only Penguin on the ice worth talking about. After what we all saw happen yesterday Pens fans should be fearful... the Red Giant is coming to town and we want blood!

Although I don't believe MAF to be the next Dryden yet... he had one hell of a game yesterday. You take MAF out of the net and we never go to OT. I am still having nightmares about that split-kick toe save... the guy was part gymnest last night! I think he had a great game and we were so close... sooo close!

I never knew how important a good coach was until we got Scotty. Its was proven with an exclamation point after Scotty retired when we witnessed the disaster of Dave Lewis, I hated him! Now we are back on track and Babs is a big reason and I hope he stays put here where he belongs!

Interesting angle they could get quite a bit for Malkin despite his poor performance but maybe premature. Z and Dats needed a few years of seasoning to get to where they are now.. I wanted us to trade Datsyuk a few years ago! I was worried he was turning into Fedorov Jr... I was wrong and am very happy to have him as he has and continues to develop.

I would love to see how Malone could fit in on our team.... for the right price! Anyone else think he could be an interesting addition?

I think with the amount and quality of young talent chomping at the bit for their chance to get in that someone on our current roster will not be back.... My hope is that its Lilja. I've heard Babcock praise the play of Ericsson predicting he will become a "stud" in the league... I have a hard time not seeing Ericsson in the line up next season.

That 5 on 3, whether it was a legit call, conspiracy call, reputation call.. or a Bull s*** call showed one thing clean and clear. The Wings are for real!! If anyone anywhere had any doubts about The Red Wings of 07/08 that 5 on 3 shut down showed everyone watching that we are number 1 because we are the best in the world! That PK was so huge, and showed why we are where we are and against "the most potent offense in the NHL". Cheers to our boys! And I give the one fingered salut to the Winey Pens fans, Disbelievers, Conspiracy Theorists, and all who hate the Red Wings!

I agree with this, we have a better and more composed team right now. We will win because we have out played them and deserve to win. PERIOD. Whining about some obstruction by the Pens may cause the refs to be more sensitive to it, Rafalski was guilty on both accounts btw. And if we are obstructing we should get penalized. I want a win because we are better and deserve it..... and there is no doubt at all that we are, and we will win because of it. GO WINGS!

Get on the ice man, and see for yourself. Learn about the game within the game... go see a game a watch the whole ice surface not just what tv show's you... you be pleasantly surprised that there is alot more going on then what you witness from your couch at home and plenty the nhl.com stats page won't show you!

Poster like me know that there are plenty of stats that are not kept and that are valid to the outcome of games. Shots/opportunities missed for example, cheapshots, instigating. Our team has a distinct style of play that not all players are suited for. Hatcher isn't here because of it... How about Luc Robitaille... I loved Robitaille but not as a Red Wing... he didn't fit! We have numerous individuals on our team that are successfull with our style, in their role that, would not have the same success elsewhere... Draper, Maltby, How about Cleary... and plenty more. Again, I will not jump in the Sammy fan club with you because he scored in the past few games. Shanahan was a monster at first, his numbers were never that bad but it was time for him to move on because of the change in his style of play. Perhaps you should think some more, there's plenty that stats can't show.

Who said anything about first line? How does additional time = first line? Your logic is obviously better. If you got a thing for Sammy, thats all you bro... won't change my opinion or my logic.

I dog on him because I don't like his style of play... no other reason. If you want to gargle his balls have at it but I am not going to. I still do not view him as a top 6 forward, his points and stats that you mention are not a good reflection IMO to the amount of play time and situations he is getting... I'm on the fence with guys like Hudler and Filpula and would be curious too see what they could do gievn some additional time and in certain situations.

Sometimes being scratched does good for certain players. No one can argue Cheli is a super competitor, maybe sitting out will get the drive back in him? Thats my hope anyway!

Why the digs on Sammy? 1. It was funny 2. Its fun to do 3. Sammy produces more crap than anything else 4. I have also questioned many times before why Sammy is on the ice as much and in as many situations... finally he gets a few goals, he should given the opportunities he's put into.

Agree'd, that play wasn't the reason we lost but this thread was a discussion thread on Lilja's play not why his poor play lost us the game. I've enjoyed having this debate with you though... good stuff!

BINGO! Due to Lidstroms atheltic ability, knowledge of the game and over-all talent 9.9 out 10 times he doesn't take that hit... why get hit if you don't need to?

Not going to say its ok but for the amount of bad plays Lidstrom makes I will not harp on him about it.

No player is always perfect but there are some that make big glaring mistakes on a regular basis and there are others that don't. Silly to even compare the 2. I'm always up to discuss good and bad from all players but its alot harder to remain bitter when a 6x Norris winner makes a mistake.

I will not even entertain the comparison of Lidstrom to Lilja. The outcome would most certainly have been different. Even if Lidstrom takes the hit he makes the right play 9.9 out of 10 times!

Lidstrom is in another universe. Still there is something wrong where our D man that's 6'3" 220 lbs (Lilja) cannot take or deliver a hit as good as our finesse player (Datsyuk) at 5'11" 194 lbs. Datsyuk gets me out of my seat normally for his incredible plays but wasn't it Malone (6'4" 224 lbs) that Datsyuk baked yesterday?.... jumped out my chair for that hit!
