I'm in the minority tonight. I want Minnesota and Detroit in the playoffs. Go Kenopka! Obviously, if it was us or them, I'd be with us, and screw them, but since I can have my cake and eat it too, Go Wild!
-
I can see it in other arenas. It's not their tradition, so why would they not discourage it? As far as the Joe goes, I think it's more to keep it to a minimum. I read somewhere (and included it in a previous thread) that there are as many as 50 thrown during the playoff games. I guess they have to keep it in check or they'd be all over the place and some people just wouldn't follow proper etiquette. Consider it an added challenge, and a greater badge of either honour for what you will do for your team if caught, or wily intelligence should you escape.

One more tip just in case you're paranoid about the smell (although boiling should take care of it) - if it looks like security is patting people down too much, sidle up to a very old deaf lady (the kind that talk REALLY LOUDLY), help her gently through security, and mumble quietly (so she won't hear you), "Grandma, I smell something funny. You did bring extra depends, didn't you?" Smile at her, and she'll smile back with no idea what you said, the security guy will rush her through and let you go with her, and the smell will be unquestioned.

Back when Mule re-signed, he had come off a breakout season and we were up to the cap to the point that we couldn't have offered him money equal to what he would have been worth on a short-term deal where we knew that he'd play each and every year like he did in '08. Plus we were using Lids as the un-official salary cap. Mule playing for a few years like he did in '08 would have cost us a lot more per year. We got him long-term at a price we could afford. He could have gotten more on the open market, but he wanted to stay a Wing. I get that people don't like to see him float, but the guy puts up the points. Results are what count in the end. For the results he brings, he's a bargain at the price. It's sort of like the cap hit thing. He plays like a million-dollar player for x games and like a 7-million-dollar player for x games and his average is that he plays like a 4-million-dollar player. As long as the 7-million guy shows up when we need him, I'll accept the million-dollar guy floating around when we don't.

It depends on how serious your relationship is. Have you met her parents? I'm one of those old fuddy-duddys who think that octi should be reserved for the playoffs, but since this is as close as Dallas will get this year, it's kind of you to give them at least a taste of the playoff experience. If you're really nervous about getting caught- wear a Stars jersey (get a cheap one at a thrift store) over a Wings t-shirt. If the jersey is white and the t-shirt red, you might need a white t-shirt over the red one to camo the red. Then once you get inside, give the Stars jersey to an underprivileged child (one whose parents haven't raised them as a Wings fan), ditch the white t-shirt (they're cheap at thrift stores) and wander about proudly wearing the Wings colours. Or spend the game in a Stars jersey and when security asks who threw the octo, just shrug and ask them to explain icing.

I prefer to go out on a high note, and win on the road. Good stuff to take going into the playoffs. Not to mention that if the unthinkable happens to us tonight, we will need that win on Saturday. That said, I have faith that tonight will be successful as Loo and marcaractac will bring us birthday luck, and because the Wings have been playing quite well.
-
Flip with the hattie for Loo's birthday and to annoy the haters. Z's beard with the assists. Columbus beats the living crap out of Dallas everywhere except for the scoreboard, leaving Dallas victorious, but with lingering issues that cause them to play poorly on Saturday. Jimmy interviewed after making spectacular saves on both SOG for Nashville. Says it was an average night for him.

Old and ... old. Keep the bandaid on after the bleeding stops until it heals or just let it heal on its own?

I don't have many shoes at all (try finding a women's size 12/5E), and the ones I do have, I go through pretty fast. I do have a dress from 1982 because I don't wear dresses much. That makes it about as old as Z. The person below me will now wish the person above me a happy birthday, preferably before midnight when the birthdayhood expires.
-
Maybe he'll turn into one of those guys like Z who only needs one letter. D That will say it all. The fact that it's also the first syllable of has last name helps too.

Go Wings. Have fun, all who are attending. about Bert and Sammy. How many other teams can claim that kind of depth? They may not be playing now, but they're much better than what's waiting in the wings in case of injury for most teams. Thank you, Shanny.

Someone needs to change "JIMMY HOWARD!" to "JIMMY...JI

It was in jest. Those people are called "drunk loud-mouths". Hey, someone's gotta start it! -
Which things from the past (not just Wings related) do you miss most?

Yes. Someone contact the person in charge of spontaneous cheers. The guy's getting some well-deserved love. I don't care if they yell James Russel Howard III, although it would probably be awkward. -
I remember my prom. The chariot broke down and we had to walk to the Colosseum. I didn't realize you were so young. Hope you had a fabulous time (aside from the ticket).
-
Nope. I got my first and only speeding ticket last fall. I've been pulled over once for the tag having fallen off my plate and once for not having a plate (just bought it- cop didn't see the sticker) and once for a tail light out, but only the speeding resulted in a ticket. That and parking too close to a fire hydrant is my full criminal history. I've been lucky. The person below me has committed a crime (felony or misdemeanor- don't need to specify if the statute of limitations is not yet up) and gotten away with it.
-
Well, that was disappointing. Go Kings.
-
Woo. Pavelski. On any other day, that would have been nice.
-
Did I really just say, "Woo! Pavelski!"?

^That^ I miss Mac. -
Have the Sharks/BJs game on. Wow. The Sharks make us look good by comparison. That first PP was abysmal. Love how they showed Hasek flipping Gaborik. Good times. Go Sharks! Back to cleaning house....

Those darn goalie masks. Gave a bad image to every self-respecting horror movie madman. One guy puts one on, and the next thing you know, mass murderers have a bad reputation, not to mention the decrease in popularity of the name Jason. Go bare like pre-Plante, dang it. Seriously- I like helmets/masks because of the protection they provide, but I miss seeing the guys' hair flowing behind them like they were rock stars (Ron Duguay, anyone?) and I miss the way that they recognized that they were vulnerable. They knew the difference between hurt and injure and played to hurt. The game being faster has made it more dangerous, but maybe we've lost something with all this speed. -
Sad to see a good PK guy go. As little as we've been scoring, we need all the defensively-able players we can get. Get well soon, Drew!
-
Every time they've played on a night where I've had to leave for work in the middle of the game, they've won. I'll be leaving towards the end of the second. If we follow the pattern, they'll be behind by a goal or tied at that time, but then pull it out to win. Your welcome.

Ah, a choice where there is no wrong answer, and both will bring delight! At the moment, I would fancy the French toast. Hasta la vista or adios?
