That would be cool. Extra signings and appearances and all that. I don't live near enough to make it happen, but it'd be cool for those who can. I guess my point (lost in sarcasm and crankyoldladybitchiness) was that the NHL and teams will have to do a heck of a lot to make up for putting us through a lost half a season. At this point, pretty much anything short of a cup has the smack of the "our fans are the greatest- we knew you'd be back" crap they've been spitting at us. Both the team and the players are going to have to go all out to make up for making us sit here for months and listen to each other pretend like we know what we're talking about without ripping each others' ears off.

You know what I want them to do for the fans? Win the Cup. Then let each of us spend a day with it. (Not holding my breath on that one.)

I even talk to the Pens and Avs fans. If the Avs fans remember the rivalry, they've been around long enough to talk real hockey. Likewise if the Pens fans remember the back-to-back cups. It makes it convenient for me. All I have to do is say, "So what did you think of Lemioux?" I always delight in conversation with women of impeccable taste.

When people call me "bandwagon" for supporting the Wings, I point out that I have also supported the Lions for 4.5 decades. No one ever accuses a Lions fan of being a bandwagoner. I live in an area where there aren't a lot of pro hockey fans. If I see someone in Wings gear, I talk to them. Most are actual Wings fans, but some are just "oh, I got the coat for free" or "oh, it just looks cool". I just want to smack them. I get excited when I meet someone who actually knows their stuff, but I'll settle for "ooooh, Zetterberg's so cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!"

I'm not thinking about how to get them back this time. However, if Bettman locks us out again in 10 years I will punish him personally. Had to check your join date. Sammy (in his last run with the Wings) was known as the Logohunter and Shinguard Assassin due to his tendency to hit the chests and shins of goalies and/or opponents blocking his shots. He was also clutch and became one of my faves.
