(egroen knows that I am serious, but for anyone else reading who wonders if I'm being sarcastic here, I'm not. This post, unlike most of my other ones, is totally serious. No ninja.)

You can't go from 3.75 to 1. It has to be half. I'm also confused as to why he gets 6 the first year and 7 after that. Is it because we hope Lids will be around next year? Or that he will be adjusting to live without Lids? Or to keep Lids as the highest-paid player should he play another season? I realize that I'm totally biased here, but given that he's age 30, I would like to see the 10-year deal, front-loaded. I don't think he's injury-prone per se. His injuries have been different and often flukey. I do think that all of those hits will become painful once he gets older. There's a reason that Lidstrom is still on the ice at his age. He doesn't give or take a lot of hits. He plays with his brain, which is a lot less painful. Really, though (and I did admit that I am biased) I'll be happy with anything that keeps him on the Wings.

I was just thinking... If they have them on the back of the jerseys, why do they need them on the back of the helmets too? Is the numbering of the helmets just so that the players can easily identify their own helmets? So the right helmets end up in the right lockers? If that's the case, why not just put them on the front only? They'd still be serving their purpose along with the dual function of helping alien fans recognize the opposition. Plus it'd be another way to determine if a player has been concussed. Just see if he puts his lid on backwards.

You know, I really would rather have a stupid decision-maker than a tie. I'd really rather they kept playing until someone scored- maybe 4 on 4 for 10 minutes, then 3 on 3 until someone scored. Whatever. I just really feel that ties mean that you've spent all of that time for nothing. They're only cool in football because they're scarce as hens' teeth, and even then, they're frustrating. Not really. There's a guy across the street with a voice like a bullhorn, but he's a such a wonderful person that I let it go. The person below me is not allergic to bees, but doesn't like being stung anyway.

It's not so bad. Many times I've watched an opposing team and wondered who someone is but wasn't able to get his number to look him up. I recognize the marquee players, but 4th line RW for the Panthers? Um, not so much. It's not garish. I could just as easily do without, but it's not like "Amway presents #25" or something.

Win-win for us. If the Wings win, we'll crush the spirits of the Hawks players (who, no doubt, realize that this is our B squad even if the fans don't). If we lose, the fans will go into the season thinking that they are so much better than they really are, and we'll be able to laugh at them when they fall back on a pre-season victory to assuage their feelings of inadequacy after a regular season loss. Go Wings!

I think so. Not so much because I like seafood, but because it is something that isn't made up by a marketing department. It's fan-started and fan-continued. It's the stuff of legend. The person below me gets obsessed about small things (not necessarily in a bad way).

Isn't there a rule that an injured player can't be exposed to waivers? In that case, can't the Wings put him on LTIR and bring up someone until he's better? Then when he gets better, they'll have to decide who to expose, IIRC. I'm thinking Brunnstrom, but if he makes it and proves himself, they may not want to expose him.
