    Derek Boogaard found dead

Not necessarily. Oxy (and hydro, for that matter) are the types of drugs that you try to keep your options open for. If you know someone who has access, you befriend them. You can never have too many sources, or too many pills in reserve. If you need them, you need them. Obviously I'm speaking from the point of view of an addict. If Aaron got arrested before the death (which is where I think you're going- Derek feeling guilty, right?), Derek could have easily posted his bail and straightened things out by hiring a lawyer. Money talks on small-time drug deals. The article from the Trib said that he was arrested in connection with the investigation of Derek's death, which I thought meant that he had taken the rest of Derek's stash, possibly to preserve his brother's reputation by preventing the news from getting out that his brother had a stash.

Because they are. Think about it from a neutral standpoint. The government is not an individual. It is made up of a large number of people, and a large number of groups of people. In order for the government to tell us anything, it must be approved by several people and involve still others in the dissemination of said information. Therefore, anything that the government tells us is something that a joint effort has been put forth for the purpose of telling us. The question is not whether or not they have conspired, but whether or not they are lying to us. Given that the government is led by individuals who are elected based on how well they can fit their personal agenda into that of their constituents, and given that their constituency can not agree on anything, it is pretty safe to assume that they have, in order to get elected, lied or at least put a spin on things. Once they have been elected, they must continue to do so in order to maintain their post. Therefore, if the "government" tells us anything, it is a bunch of people who are accustomed to lying, spinning, or omitting as they see fit. A lot of people who question the government are accurate. A lot are freaks. Some are mentally unbalanced. Others want attention. And then there are those who are running against the established government. All are conspiracy theorists. Some of them are just more accurate than others.

    The person below me game...

If I absolutely have to drink coffee, that's how I would take it, but it has to be pretty much a matter of global importance to get that stuff down my throat. The person below me goes camping and does so in places without toilet paper.

Blackhawks star Kane has fractured wrist

If a player needs rehab, that is a personal problem for the player and is none of our business. For a normal, average, everyday person, the thought of entering rehab and having family, friends, coworkers, and people in general finding out is tough enough. For someone in the public eye, it is magnified a thousandfold. Not only do you have your boss, the chatty lady at the next work station, the librarian, and the church ladies looking at you differently, you also have total strangers judging you when they really know nothing about you except for a few sound bites here and there. It would be much easier for the player to go in anonymously, and then, after having dealt with the original problem, decide how to handle it publicly. The initial outing could be enough to drive a person away from getting needed help. If you've not been there, you have no idea. Our "right to know" does not extend to their personal lives. They may be public figures, but they are people too, and their lives and families are far more important than whether we'd opt to have them on our fantasy team. If they need privacy, they deserve it just like any other person; and being in the public eye, they need it more.

Usually ice cream, but right now I'm having intense popsicle cravings. Grits or mashed taters?

Getting a bunch of teeth pulled and getting fake ones in the back. Still need the electricity fixed. Would like a new front door, but we'll have to see. Yeah, this summer will be spendy. The person below me has made a gingerbread house.

Oh, gosh. I was talking to Johan and didn't give the post my whole attention and thought it said "sadistic". I'm not really artistic. I'm creative, but I think that's different. I can't draw a straight line to save my life and I only wear jeans because they match everything. On the other hand, I like to write stuff, as you all probably know by now. The person below me would quit their job if they won the lottery.

Short term? Drought. Long term? Umm... I'd almost have to say flood because as long as you have the off-season, you can build dams/levees/dikes/diversions/allthatjazz to contain the next year's flood. You can't make more water in the off-season to take care of the next year's drought When toasting marshmallows: Turn to evenly brown and wait patiently until the entire inside is soft or let the thing catch fire and blow it out?

Nope. The few facial hairs I have are too many. Pluck! Pluck! Pluck! The person below me is happy the Wings signed Ty.

Neither, really. I'm trying to make a choice, but each has such scary drawbacks that I chicken out just thinking about it. Breasts or thighs? Chicken, people! Chicken!

The easiest team to root for...

How peculiar. I've been rooting for the Lions for almost a half century, and as long as you know which slogan to say at which time, you're fine. For those who don't follow the Lions, the slogans are: "We're not mathematically eliminated yet!" and "There's always next year!" Root for the Lions until their season is over (mathematical elimination), and then it's time for the Wings to start playing. In a good year, one doubles up a bit, but since the Lions only play once a week, and almost always on a Sunday, it rarely causes conflict. Not to mention that the Lions bumper sticker makes a great theft deterrent.

Retiring already. And he still looks like he's twelve.

Red Wings sign Ty Conklin to 1 year contract

I'm pleased. Conks knows how to be a good backup. He cheers the other guy on and pushes him a bit. If he gets put in the starter role, he does his best and doesn't take it badly when the starter returns. That takes a man with no ego. In other words, a perfect Wing. Welcome back, Conk Block!

Today I am due to the Ozzie thing. Which would you be least likely to name your first-born son (theoretically, of course- I know some of us are too old, some have a son, and others do not plan on having (more) children): Smedley or Mordecai?

This very morning I was semi-stranded due to flash flooding. I did get home, but it took me almost an hour and a half. It usually takes 15 minutes. The person below me has a job in which they frequently get cuts, burns, and/or bruises.

    Red Wings on Twitter

I honestly don't know very much about it, but if other people want to do it, they can have at. I spend a lot of time here, so I don't have time for reality.

    Nicklas Lidstrom HHOF Waiting Period

If dying is the only way he gets in early, then I hope he has to wait the full 3 years.
