    This or That

Totally keep it. I hate returning things. If the pricetag isn't that high, I'll buy another and donate the old before I return. Building supplies is another story. They expect you to return the extra. Saran wrap or aluminium foil?

Nope. Working. The person below me lets their lawn grow pretty tall before mowing.

    Heatley for Havlat swap

Well, Minnesota is cold and is not a contender. The Sharks are definitely getting better with the addition of Burns and now with this trade (although Setogucci certainly will be missed). I'd say that this worked out pretty Neatly for Havlat.

    Brett Lebda traded to Nashville

Maybe he married Taylor Swift or something. My sister thought I had texted "Lebda for Franzen trade" and freaked out.

Red Wings trying to move Jiri Hudler

True. My quote was part of an answer to the question "why the hate?" or something along that line. When Hudler went to arbitration, there were a lot of people who were pretty upset. That, IMHO, is where the hate for most began. Then when he went to Russia, things got worse. I, for one, defended his move to Russia because we would not have been able to afford what he was awarded. We just didn't have the cap space. I still believe that he went there knowing that it would buy us time until the next year when we would have the space to afford him. So the "didn't live up to paycheck" comment was not accurate. Mea culpa. I would have been better saying "people expect a guy who took the team to arbitration to kick serious butt to prove that he was worth it" or something along that line. What I meant by that was that once he came back, he was on a very short leash, and quite a few around here didn't feel that he was worth what he was being paid, more due to the arbitration than to his output to pay ratio. To be honest, I expected more of him. I was pulling for him, but he just didn't seem all there. He had his flashes of greatness, but they seemed few and far apart. I have to admit that I was disappointed. Of course, had we won another Cup, he would have earned his pay at the parade.

    Brett Lebda traded to Nashville

Ok, I don't get this. Slaney has never played in the NHL. Franson is pretty good. I don't get that trade at all. Lebda for a concussed guy, sure. I get that. Except that they guy might be able to play this year, but I guess we take our chances. Bad, bad, bad trade by Nashville.

I love sitting home alone any time I can do it. Except for Johan. He can be here, too. The person below me likes to bring treats for things.

    This or That

I work nights, so I'm up all night anyway! I try to keep a bedtime, but it never really works, especially on Sundays. Normal days, bedtime is 9:00 a.m. Sundays, church starts at 9. And half the time, I'm the organist. No sleepy-time there! Work one job and eke by or work an extra part-time job and get everything paid on time?

No, Eva's taller. Edit: No, I have never met Eva. Just playing the odds.

Red Wings trying to move Jiri Hudler

Not nearly so much hate as that he's now quite expendable, did not live up to his paycheck, and getting rid of him for someone else can only make us better. Granted, there is the chance that he could be reading this thread, getting good and ornery and planning to come back with a vengeance, but I think he's probably doused in vodka and cavorting with ladies of the evening.

    Wings looking at Ty Conklin

I love Ozzie to pieces and always will, but if we can get Conks back I think it will be better for the team. I just can't see Oz bouncing back from the injuries he's had over the last couple of years. He's been a great part of the team, and I will always love his fight with Waaah. He's been a great goalie as a starter, and as a backup he's been a great mentor for Jimmy. I think Conks could do well in the mentor/backup role. Since Conks is coming off of relatively bad seasons, he should come with a very reasonable price tag. He seemed happy here. I'm for this signing.

    Forward lines next season?

Are we talking the ripply kind? Cuz those kind of hold up their crunch even when they're stale... If we are trading for a forward, we definitely need to get rid of one that we have, even if it means waiving Huds if he can't be traded. If we just plain sign a forward, we will have to find another way to get rid of him. He's probably drinking heavily right about now. Maybe we could see if he still has any vodka on him and include it in the trade. I would like to wait for camp and see what Mursak and Emmerton have to offer since I'm not familiar with their play before I make line combos. Most people here put them as spares or on the 4th, which is expected for the new kids. Has anyone watched them enough to know where they might fit if Huds vanished? :beerbuddy:

    Defensive pairings

So what's the story on Janik? I've heard that he will be up with the Wings this year for sure, and I've heard that he might be in GR. If we have Lids-Kron-Stu as 3 of our top 4, and E, Janik, Commodore, and Kindl as the bottom, something's got to give. It can only mean that E or Commodore is going to be in the top 4 or that someone's going to be gone in a trade, possibly 2 someones if you take into account all of the Smith talk. E and C are not going to be traded, nor are the top 3, so I would guess that leaves Kindl and/or Janik and/or Smith as trade bait. Janik will not fetch anything, so that leaves Kindl and/or Smith. Could a trade for the likes of Bogo or Yandle include Kindl and/or Smith? Would we be willing to give up both? What would we have for callups if they did go? Would we need to panic, even if we had Janik?

Red Wings trying to move Jiri Hudler

For some reason, I was thinking we had too many forwards. Maybe I was still mentally counting Draper, or maybe I was assuming we'd pick one up. At any rate, Hudler brings our total to 14 (counting Mursak and Emmerton) so I guess we could keep him rather than giving him up for nothing.

Red Wings trying to move Jiri Hudler

You'd think someone would take him for a 4th round pick. I mean, we'd be willing to give up that low of a pick to anyone who'd take him, right?

    Yandle on the block?

I would love Yandle. I like what I've seen of him. I would seriously even include Abby in a trade if I had to. I wouldn't want to, but if that's what it took, I would do it. Detroit: Gives up Abby, a prospect, Hudler, and a pick to offset the taking of Hudler. Phoenix: Gives up Yandle, takes Hudler. EDIT to add: I would try Emmerton or Mursak before I tried Abby. I'd only go Abby if they insisted. The "prospect" in question would be someone lower down- not the aforementioned or Tatar. Probably not Smith unless they gave back the pick and still took Hudler. They would also need to agree to pay for weekly haircuts for Commodore.

The scary thing is that if Huds was a dman he'd be gone by now.

  22. That's hilarious. You know, every year the Wings have trouble with injuries. Maybe Commode's our designated injury guy. He gets injured so other players don't have to. Maybe? Please?
  23. We just signed a guy whose name makes me think of a toilet? Oh, well. Life goes on.
