Picard. Byfuglien or Toews?
-
Yikes. Leino. I think this is pretty much game. Not saying the Hawks should give up. Just saying it doesn't look like they'll get this one.
-
Pronger is a douchecanoe.

It is odd to see a thread with that title on a Wings forum. Unfortunately, there are those who feel that they can tell the rest of us who we can or can't root for, and how our choice determines the depth of our love for the Wings. Sorry for any bad thoughts I sent your way. Since you're not one of those, I'll go back and give you a +. Pax?

I totally see what you're saying, but at least they are O-6 (for those of use who are old enough that it matters) and if nothing else, if the Hawks win we can use it as "proof" that the West is so much tougher.

Which defunct team would you like to see make a comeback?

Jets. I grew up in Sask. and the Dakotas (plus some time in Wisc. but that was later). -
So much for getting momentum going into intermission...

Goal! Singing that super-annoying song to myself. I won't share it. You're welcome.

Ville back! Not cheering for him; just don't want him to be hurt.
-
He was scratched for quite a bit. He and Koko both underperformed for their new teams after leaving Detroit. Now they are having good times, but how long will it last? Go Hawks.

The amazing Ville Leino

Tough call. Kane on the ice; Perry off. Can we just merge them? They even look kind of the same. Little weasels. Light saber or blaster?

I work at 11. The person below me can feel it in their elbows when they get really mad.

Dom, you cool hunk of goalie-man. Go get'em, tiger!

They can call penalties off the ice?

You tell'em, Jack. Nobody has any right to say who people can root for or how this reflects on the depth of their Wings fanship. I could sit here and doubt how anyone could be a true Wings fan and still want to see Pronger lift the Cup. If they have to ask why, they're not a real fan ( ) I have my reasons for cheering for the Blackhawks this time, and none of them have anything that has any bearing on my being a Wings fan. The Wings won't win the Cup this year. Get over it, people. There are only two teams left, and I can't stand either of them. On one hand, there is Pronger, who I hate second only to Claude. On the other hand, there is Toews, who is a UND boy and from people I've talked to from there (including a former hockey player), that kid is nothing but a good guy. Butt-fugly-en is from Minnesota, which is located really close to home for me as well. Those are small reasons compared to the personal reason I am rooting for the Blackhawks: Grab a cup of coffee. This could get long. In the summer of 2008, my dad was sick. He came very close to dying twice. He spent the summer in three hospitals getting tests, getting inconclusive results, getting more tests... Some of the tests were painful; others were unpleasant. Through it all, he kept his spirits up. When things would get bad, he'd say, "Well, at least we won the Cup." It may sound stupid, but it kept him going. He was a Detroit boy through and through. He followed his teams back when there were only three channels on the tv, and no internet. He couldn't afford magazines or Detroit newspapers or things like that, so he kept up through word of mouth from friends who were still back in The D. Do you have any idea how happy that man was in 1997? He had waited since his childhood to see them win that Cup again. In January of 2009, we went to see the Wings play the Wild. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing, and it was the last time I got to do anything with him. He died of a heart attack a month later. The joy that he got from the Wings winning the Cup got him through that summer of tests and hospitalization, all for nothing as it was unrelated to what actually killed him. Now I have a friend whose dad went through what my dad did. Fortunately for my friend, her dad doesn't have a history of heart problems, so his outcome should be better than my dad's. Her dad almost died last summer. He's from the Chicago area, and a life-long Hawks fan. His daughter is a Wings fan, and he cheered for her team in the years that his team was out and her team was in. She is now returning the favour. I'm cheering for the Hawks for my friend's dad, and by extention, my dad's memory. When I hear about her dad, I can't help but think of my own. They have a close relationship like I did with my dad. The pain of missing him is sometimes unbearable despite my solid belief that I will see him again someday. Knowing how much I miss my dad, it makes it extra special when a friend has that sort of close relationship with her dad, and is able to cherish the experiences that I did with my dad. I want her to see the joy in her dad's eyes that I saw in my dad's eyes four times. Those things are more important than who elbowed whom in 2007, or who has sucky fans that yell stupid things about other cities. I realize that every team in the league could come up with a story like this about a fan who has had a rough time who they would like to "win it for", but this is my story, and my friend's. You may root for whomever you please, but this is where I stand, and I will stand here as a true die-hard Wings fan, and you can not change that.

I once tried to jump in a river by the base of a dam. I won't go into details, but let's just say that had I not been stopped, I wouldn't be typing this today. My sister, who is now being treated for mental illness also tried to kill herself. Neither of us may be special to any of you out there in internetland, but we're pretty darn special to each other, and to our family. I'm still convinced that when I die few will note nor little care that I am gone, but that doesn't mean that I haven't touched a few lives in my corner of the world. No matter how worthless we may think ourselves to be, we have a place and purpose here even if we don't see it. It behooves us to use that chance that we get to live for as much good as possible. Cheers to Ron MacLean and the others who saved this man. I don't know how many of you have ever watched someone die, but you just can't help but want to help, even if you can't do anything that effects the end result. Life is too precious. You only get one.

My, my. Some of us are feeling our Oates today.

^^^Elbows McAsshole= pure win^^^ Philly doesn't have to win for one of their guys to win the Conn Smythe. That said, I'd rather see it in the hands of pretty much anyone but Pronger. It wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would be pretty icky.

Aw, Dandy of you to think of me, but I was at work, and with no internet access there, so Howard you get a hold of me? I can't Stu about it- it's over, but Lapointe of this message is that there are better punsters than mys Ulf. This might not be the Norm, but Cheveldae is a new beginning. I may be Chaisson a dream, but I am not the only one. Someone will be the Hatcher of a new thread, and we will all bite like Fisch. Dino all of you start this one? LGW has a Hull of a Legace.

To all the guys who are questioning whether or not Cindy is good looking: Yes, he is- if you're a teenage girl. If Cindy had a great personality, carried himself well, was gracious in defeat and humble in victory, and if he was allowed to make a name for himself based on his performance rather than having his name hyped every thirty seconds by a announcers who seem to find the sound of it to be an erotic experience, maybe- just maybe - he would achieve the status that they are trying to force upon him. And maybe we'd actually like him.

Always hungry after work. Never hungry until I've been up for several hours. The person below me has run into a store to get one thing, remembered other things, and then left without getting the one thing they came in for.

Wheat thins. (The purple/pink was out of the blue, so to speak. No relation to bacteria.) Oreos or Chips Ahoy?
