Is it just me, or does Pierre get creepier every time I see him?
-
Yeah, I didn't get into the trade deadline- you can't trade a player for that season after that. I'm not sure how things work as far as draft picks and all of that. Anyway, yeah, if Drapes and Ozzie end up in Tampa next season, it will be due to a trade (and Drapes has to waive his NTC). I'm not sure when Stevie could start negotiating for the season after that. If a player has a multi-year contract, that player can be negotiated with any time on or after July 1st of the last year of the contract. If a player signs a one-year deal, then they have to wait until January 1st to negotiate for the next season. I'm not sure what happens if you trade for someone in a multi-year deal. Before anyone tells me that this isn't worth discussing, I agree that it probably won't happen with Drapes and Oz. At this point, I'm just thinking in the theoretical.

Buf and Pronger are going to get some flesh out of each other tonight.

Leino. Who'da thunk it? Next goal will be Kopecky. Guess I was wrong about Koko, but tie game anyway.
-
In the regular season, absolutely. Phili has proven time and again this post-season that they can't be counted out. Both teams are alive and fighting. At this point, I don't see one team being clearly superior. Hawks have Kopecky. Hawks win.
-
Vertically. Otherwise you have to look for which light you want to be on. Sweep or come-from-behind victory?
-
This is about as even as it comes. No clear favourite to win. It should be an exciting series. I'm just waiting to see if Kopecky can finish a year without a season-ending injury.

A GM can talk to another GM (or to a player whose rights have been secured by the GM's own team) any time. A GM can only talk to a player who is signed with another team after his (the player's) contract with that team is over, which is June 30 unless the player's team grants an exception, which usually involves some compensation. Before June 30, players are still considered employees of the team for which they played that season. After June 30, players whose contracts do not extend into the next year are considered unemployed and can enter into talks with other teams. That's the reason why July is such a big deal. It's not just that the new contracts are signed and announced, it's that the deals are made that lead to these contracts. If Drapes and Osgood (who both have a year left on their contracts) are indeed going to TB, then it would be Holland on the plane home from Florida after meeting with Stevie. Those guys can only be traded for another year. They can't enter into a new contract until next summer (2011). Of course, Draper has a NTC, so maybe Holland sent him down there to see how nice it is so he'll consider waiving it, and he sent Ozzie along so he would have someone to take to Disney World who would blend in with the other little cherubic faces known to grace the park. Or maybe Draper just has a thing for Sleeping Beauty and needed Ozzie to give him moral support for when he actually met her. He should have brought Hudler and six of his relatives.

Can't say as I do. The person below me likes chilled fruit on a hot day.

Oh, yes. Even if I don't care about the teams playing, I do love the game, and if I miss a Cup game it's just that much longer until I get to see hockey again. I'll have to miss some due to work, but I'll get to see this one. The person below me has kissed a frog just in case.

Hide and go seek. At least there's a little variety. I used to play with my Godson, and he always checked the dryer first when he was looking for me. Riding mower or push mower?

No waxing at all. Ever. Not planning to ever do it. The person below me likes to play with kids' toys sometimes.

Fun place. Check it out- there's a hilarious article about how the NHL is moving to the Food Channel.

He bolded it. Close enough. I think a lot of the difference between the perception of Hossa and that of Cleary is what they are each expected to do. Cleary is expected to be a grinder and chip in some goals (and often clutch ones) and that is what he did in the playoffs. He didn't do it as well as he usually does, but now that we know why, we understand. Hossa was expected to put the puck in the net. A lot. He didn't. We found out later why he didn't, but by that time he was gone. With Cleary, we can look ahead and say, "well, the poor lad was hurt this year, but he'll be better next year and all will be well." With Hossa, we can say, "yeah, sure. He's all injured the ONE AND ONLY year we get him. Now that he's with SOMEONE ELSE he's all rested and healed and just fine and dandy. Thanks for telling us that you were hurt earlier- like WHEN WE SPENT AS MUCH CASH ON YOU AS ON OUR FREE KING CAPTAIN!!!!!" As I understand it, they - Hossa and Holland - knew that Hossa would need surgery at some point in the future, they just didn't know how long it would wait. In short, Cleary has a chance to redeem himself, and has the track record with us to make us believe that this is probable. With Hossa, it's too little too late.

The difference is that Swedes (or Scandanavians in general) aren't Vikings. They may have had ancestors who were Vikings, but they don't life the pillage and plunder lifestyle, nor do they refer to themselves as Vikings. It would be more like saying that the African-American heritage in the South (USA) should be honoured, and having the Atlanta Africans-Americans as a team. Would it be a compliment? Not really, especially when idiots from the opposing teams started assuming that any Black person there was from Atlanta, even if they were visiting from New Brunswick. Then imagine that the "mascots" dancing along the sidelines were white kids in blackface eating watermelon or doing some sort of stereotypical action. That's more of what you get with Sioux. You get a white kid with "war paint" doing a "war dance", none of which is anywhere near accurate. It can be done with respect, but usually only on the res itself.

Just work. Loo- I was going to write the "take a shower" one since I just came in from staining the deck, but I didn't think that there were that many of us that needed showers! The person below me has noisy neighbours.
-
Whoa. That'll strike fear into the heart of competitors. Good choice.
-
Nope. I have to pay some bills, but I'll just drop them off in the mailbox in the grocery store parking lot. The person below me switches brands of hair care products fairly often.
-
Neither. I really can't stand the stuff. Set meal times, or just when you're hungry?
-
You did get that it was from the Onion, right?
-
Many times, and I haven't even met anyone here except my sister, who never comes here anymore and if she does, she just lurks. The person below me needs to paint or stain something.
-
Not. Lasagna or mac'n'cheese?
