Mike Milbury uses 'Eurotrash game' to describe Russian hockey
55fan replied to Ruys92's topic in General
Um. I'm lost. I'm American White Trash and lots of Europeans are also white, so wouldn't Eurotrash just be White Trash from Europe? Unless they didn't happen to be white, of course, in which case they'd be other kinds of trash. But if Plain Old White Trash (American version) isn't offensive, then why is Eurotrash? It is just telling the place of origin of the trash and differentiating it from the local stuff. Actually, now that I think about it, do they have White Trash in Canada? I don't remember ever being called that when I lived there, but that was about 40 years ago. If not, what kind of Trash do they have? If they are European and played like Trash, then Eurotrash would be accurate, no? Oh- and is Russia actually considered part of Europe? I thought it was Eurasia since it spans both continents. I guess if you are from the Asian part of Russia, Eurotrash would be offensive. Either way, they lost. Sucks to be them. -
Well, I guess I won't have to worry about what happened the last time the Swedes took gold... unless it happens for another reason.

Thanks for the link. I was getting worried. Best for all concerned: Malts gets the surgery, is back for the playoffs (whether in the press box or on the ice is a moot point at this time), and we don't have to lose anyone with a big enough salary to bring back Lilja. Lebda can still be traded for a Kraft Dinner and it has no bearing on this situation.

Not so much what it has come to as where it's going. The person below me hates black licorice.

Marijuana (Kidding- haven't touched the stuff in over 20 years. It just makes me think that when I see marinara.) File taxes by paper or online?

Not to mention the cheese, chard, steak... I'm not too nervous about the Swiss, although as folks have said, anything can happen when it's one game. I'd be nervous to face Canada or Russia.

Cotton candy. Or something. The person below me laughs when they see someone referring to someone as a "roll model". I get a funny pic in my head of someone on a runway modelling dinner rolls.

Heck, we did this in band. Teaches some good life lessons- like -how to hold your head up if a football player is coming at you -the fact the punches hurt, but turtling hurts more, and you get over the hurt from the punches faster than the shame of having turtled -how to absorb a punch -how to throw a punch (or in my case, how not to) -that is it is better to go down fighting than wuss out You learn to stick up for yourself and not back down. Good things to know, even if you never face another punch in your life. I know if anyone ever challenged me to a fight, I'd get my clock cleaned, but I also know that I'd get back up again. Everyone should know some basic self-defense. You just never know when you'll need it.

He took a puck at practice when he wasn't wearing his mouthguard. He got scolded (lightly) for it by a trainer. He says he's learned his lesson.

Oh, Jack! He's precious! Is this your first? Homer is the perfect name for a hamster. My little Nik (may he RIP) was nicknamed Homerbutt because he would "hide" in his tube with his butt sticking out and I thought "this is what Homer looks like to a goalie". Also, that is a great cage. Nik and Henrik had one like that. After 2 hamsters I decided to get rid of it, so when I get Johan he will have a new one. What kind of bedding are you using? Nik had problems with the wood-based and I had to switch to paper-based. Let me know everything about him. (You can PM me if you like since not everyone in the world is a hamster freak.) Congrats!

NHL Rule Change Thoughts while following Olympics

That's because you are quite young. We old farts remember that *** also has another, totally different meaning. There was this old show called "the Flintstones" and the end line of the theme was "we'll have a *** old time". No one wondered if the characters were having homosexual relations. We all just thought it meant that they were fun folks full of frivolity. Obviously, shootouts (which are events) can't have sexual orientations, so it behooves us to look for another meaning. The OP must have meant that they are fun features full of festively feisty frivolity. Unless it's like "sick" and "bad" where I have no idea if something is good or not. -
Love those pants, Norway. I also liked the Danish gals' "skirts". Those were kind of cool. Add me to the people who love to watch curling. Hoping Canada gets the men's gold!

Whichever came first. Seriously. It seems that the one that is "based" on the other never does the first one justice. Plus they change things. That drives me totally nuts. Latvia or Switzerland?

Not me. It's just dusting here. No real snowfall. The person below me likes to play the slots on occasion.

NHL Rule Change Thoughts while following Olympics

Your welcome. Also, I meant to add to the last post that I think a team should have to go through the whole roster (except the backup goalie) before repeating shooters in the shoot-out. -

Nice post. Those who have nothing to say sometimes find an overwhelmingly stupid way of saying it. In other news: I like the 3-point system. I'm all for the games being worth the same number of points, whether it is 2 or 3. Get rid of the trapezoid. Yes, please to no-touch icing. I'm not sure that the larger ice would be enough of an advantage to retrofit all of the rinks. Maybe new arena should be made so that they can be modified, and once all teams are in a new arena, then go for it. I'm thinking around 2045. -
