Oddly enough, I often take breaks by myself since I only speak English and others on my shift are talking together and I can't understand them. There are several different languages spoken there, none of which is Spanish. If we are going to make allowances for one group, why not for everyone? That's what my co-workers who spend a lot of time and effort learning English are annoyed about. English is difficult to learn later in life (ask Datsyuk), yet a lot of the people I work with are busting their butts to learn it so they can fit in better and get through life here more easily. I've heard that Spanish-speaking people lack the ability or drive, but I don't believe that for a minute. Most people I know of Hispanic descent speak English quite well (some better than others) and I have yet to meet one that makes me believe that they need some sort of special consideration to survive. I find it insulting to them that people think they can't learn.

Name one thing that will. With the Hudler case in the air, we won't be doing anything for a while. If I ran the zoo, I'd wait until training camp. If the next generation of prospects below Abby/Helm/E/Leino aren't ready, and if there isn't a FA that looks good, then we will have to do something. I could be wrong and someone could come out of nowhere at camp and be the next Cleary, but I'm guessing that we're going to be raiding the Griffins pretty badly.

I laughed. I cried. It moved me, Bob. The person below me laughed at the "elephant dressed like a Franciscan" line in the video above.

You, Loo. You. Daphne or Velma?

Thanks, Drake. I can always count on you for good info. (Thanks to you, too Under Par ) I guess we can look on the bright side that we have 2 viable options in E and Stuie, even if they shoot left. Oh, and mindfly- I already dream of Ericsson.

OK, I'm probably going to get loads of crap from left-handed hockey players out there, but I have a question for you. I'm left-handed. I do a lot of things right-handed, such as using power tools, because they are set up to be used right-handed. With things like scissors and knives, I can just switch back and forth between the two without thinking about it. So I am wondering how hard it would be for one of the left shooters who is right-handed in real life (as in outside of hockey) to switch to shooting right-handed. He'd have to bend his sticks the other way, of course. He would probably need some practice. Would it be harder than it sounds if he was pretty much right-handed to begin with? He'd have a killer backhand. Just wondering. I'm thinking Ericsson for the PP, so this is really just a hypothetical question.

You might be blind and only able to listen to the games. Or you may have such bad reception that you can't tell when they're shooting backhanded. Trust me, I've had that bad reception with free tv.

If this takes too long, we will be forced to wait until training camp and look at the GRG boys and FA invites to fill our roster. I'm kind of surprised that Holland can't decide to just let Huds walk, although Holland may be hanging on just to see what kind of decision Huds gets in arbitration. It's certainly keeping the offseason from getting boring.

I don't know David Booth personally, nor do I have a facebook page, so the answer is no. The person below me argues the fine points of the CBA with themselves when they are bored and alone without computer access.

I just did a quick peek because the only Wing I could think of who is a righty other than Raffi is Maltby. According to the Wings site, those are the only two. I know some of they guys are actually right-handed, but shoot left. I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that we will either sign a right-handed player (as in a guy who happens to be right-handed, not that we're going shopping for one) or that Babs will play a lefty. I don't see Malts on the PP. <--You heard that here first. My guess would be that they try Ericsson. Stuie is a possibility as well. I doubt they'll go for another forward just because he's a righty unless we sign someone who does it really well.

That is just not fair, young lady. If I got the opportunity to play the game, I'd go with goalie, but as far as which is hotter, do you really expect me to choose between Domnozzie and Niknjonny? I can't even choose one goalie and one defenseman, and now you want me to pick between them? I'm just glad you didn't include forward in your choices. Helping friends or helping strangers?

Not today. Talk to me next weekend, and I'll be singing a different song. The person below me has a song that always makes them cry when they hear it. Mine's .

Their go wing too bee in the playoffs. (I agree on the whole their/there/they're thing. Use the word you mean, not one that sounds like it. We're not speaking here; we're reading. There's a difference when it's in print.) I don't think they'll make it past the first or second round. They have improved more than the other teams that are at the bottom of the East. They just haven't improved past the teams that are at the top.

You're right about the clothes. He needs to take them off. Now. Please and thank you.

It's the nature of the beast. We win some, we lose some. We still have a great core of some of the best players in the world. We will miss the ones we lost, but these things happen. I used to get attached to co-workers and learned that lesson back when I was a youngster. Enjoy the people in your life, but be prepared for them to move on. If it was meant to be, you'll keep in touch, but if not, you just have the memories. BTW, I love stuffing, I just think the idea is weird. The person below me prefers instant mashed potatoes to the real thing.

Oh, goodness. Tennies. High heels don't look good in a size 12EEEEE. They are also painful to wear when your feet are that big. Not to mention that you usually have to order them online, which is spendy. Lefse or tortillas?
-
I guess that depends on your definition of weird. Stuffing is a weird food, if you think about it. The person below me has wondered who first said, "hey, let's stuff dry bread up a bird's ass and see if it tastes good."

Porque la gente en Quebec hablan espanol. Oh, wait...

Diet makes my feet swell due to water retention. Regular makes my hips and stomach bigger not due to water retention. Peanut butter or chocolate chip cookies?

Sort of. I got off work last night at midnight, and I go to the other job tonight at 11 pm. So I have 23 hours off, which really isn't a day. The person below me takes lots of breaks when cleaning their house.

I realize we haven't been properly introduced, but can I hug you? People would think that Maltby has the same role on the team as Dats or Zata. He's a 4th liner who can fill in in the press box if need be. He's better than some out there, and he has a great deal of experience to help the young guys that are coming up. They are our future. He will be leaving soon. He's not what he once was, but neither is anyone at that age. He is what he is now. A role player on the last year of his contract. Do you really think that he won't be playing balls to the wall next year in the playoffs so he can go out on top? He's getting old; he's not lazy and sucks.

I had such insomnia this week (as evidenced by my post count ) that I needed caffeine to stay awake at work. Ugly but smart, or cute but dumb?

That's about the time I fell asleep in the recliner. Slept until 7. Started laundry and cleaning the kitchen. Now I must tackle that spare bedroom. Ugh. In some ways, I hate my almost-day off. The person below me never gets accomplished what they intend to.

When I first heard people here say it, I agree that it seemed too cloak-and-dagger. Then I sat down and thought about it. We can't afford to pay Huds what he is worth this year. What are our options? 1) Let someone else take him and get the picks. 2) Sign him to a cheap one-year contract with the promise of a future pay-off. 3) Sign him long-term to lower the cap hit. #1 doesn't work because he doesn't want to play elsewhere. #2 is kind of risky for Huds. If he gets a career-ending injury, he's screwed because he was playing for such a small amount of money. Hudler is a bit too young for #3. The KHL deal gives everyone what they want. Huds signs a multi-year deal which is front-loaded and has a clause that lets him out after a year. He gets his money, we don't lose him to another team, and when he comes back, we can pay him what he's worth. It took some time for me to think it made sense, but now I see where the people who believe it are coming from. I doubt it's true, but I'm not going to say it's not possible either.

Put me in the Grier camp. With Bell as a "maybe". I'd shy away from Bert. It didn't work last time. I don't see it improving if we try it again. On the other hand, if memory serves me right, wasn't he usually on a line with Lang and Calder? If that's the case, maybe he might fit in with some new players. Helm centering him and Cleary? That could be a good line. Tough, hitting, scoring. Could be a nice third line.
