Longshot but is it possible Penguins could match what Oilers
55fan replied to thegreat66's topic in General
I'm going to have to take your word for it because I threw it out already (unless it's the one in my locker at work), but I could have sworn there were RFA's on that list. I'm probably wrong. You're a pretty reliable source. -
Rafalski, Stuart, Draper, Maltby, Holmstrom and Filppula

I beg to differ. Koko is adept at filling a roster spot so that a young inexperienced forward can gain valuable ice time in GR before being called up to fill Koko's spot when he has a season-ending injury. -
No one can resign Cheli. Only Cheli can resign, and only before the 30th of June. After that, he is a UFA. We can re-sign him. Other teams can sign him. Chicago and Montreal can, technically re-sign him since he was once signed there, but only Cheli can resign and he has said that he wishes to re-sign. I can see him going to the Kings. It's near home (California home, that is) and they could use a good veteran d-man. Say good night, Gracie.

Wait a minute- is that Original Recipe or Extra Crispy? Cuz if it's Original Recipe....

The big question in my mind is what Daniel Sedin will fetch. Rick Nash, perhaps?

Sharks, Rangers, Panthers, Penguins...and? or are we counting Swedish teams? Either way, he was listed at #26 of THN's top picks of free agents for the summer. Huds didn't make the top 50. Hossa was #2 after the Sedin Twins (who count as 1 person, I guess). He's our goat here, but he does have some talent. -
My sister and I used to do it to drive Mom crazy. Now that we're older and more mature, we just make barnyard animal sounds. The person below me hates wearing nylons.

Yip? Yipyipyipyip no no no Yap. Ben or Jerry?

Cheli has pretty much said he won't be back here but will go elsewhere if someone will take him. He'd like to stay; there just isn't room for him.

Up, actually. I don't like my hair flying all over. Not because it gets messy, but because it is so long that it gets all over. Carmel or marshmallow?
-
Not me! I'm a bit on the sane side when I'm behind the wheel. The person below me has received condolences on the loss of the Cup from fans of other teams.

Pancakes with maple syrup. Juice, tea, milk, or coffee? I'm killing ya, aren't I?
-
Scrambled, please. With some cheddar or American cheese if you have any. Sausage, ham, or bacon?

Start, finish, in between- whenever I'm near my computer, it's LGW time. The person below me hates doing laundry more than other household chores.

Wow, Stevie, Hully and Luc all up for consideration. Could be a mini-reunion!

Not really any one team, but if I liked a guy as a Wing, and he moves to another team, I am more likely to root for that team if the opponent is not a team I care about one way or the other. I can't root for the Ducks, and it's hard as heck to root for the Habs, but other than that... I guess I'll see where Sammy ends up.

Booger King Neon or Magnesium?

If it's overdue, how can it be stupid? Personally, I like having a Hockey Day (like Thanksgiving is Football Day). I agree it's about time they did something like this.

I think you may be on to something. I hope they don't try, as VM1138 said, giving one game to every team. The sadist in me would like to see the Panthers or Yotes have to go to Edmonton and play outdoors, but how dull would those games be? If they are going to do this, it should be 2 teams that are really good in an area that is reliable to produce hockey-friendly weather conditions. If they want to have an Eastern game and a Western game double-header, that's ok with me.

As a life-long Lions fan, I have always had a back-up to cheer for at the point where the Lions are mathematically eliminated. I still cheer for the Lions, of course, it's just that I have to pick someone going into the playoffs. Even if I watch a game where I really don't care who wins, I still find myself rooting for one team or the other- usually the first to make a really good play. In hockey, I don't have that problem. The Wings are always (in recent years anyway) at the top. I have become addicted to rooting for underdogs. Hence my cheering for the Leafs and Kings. Leafs because they were the SC Champs when I moved to Canada, and Kings because any win by them (against other West teams) helps the Wings. And Kopitar is hot. Who says we have to be sensible with our second choices?

One East, one West. With the difference in time zones, it works. People may not watch both, but we who are die-hard hockey people will. Given that New Years' Day is so full of football, 2 games allow the average couch potato to check out "his" team in a bowl game and randomly flip through channels for the rest of the day and hopefully hit on hockey. Works for me. If it were 2 games in either the East or West, it would not be a good idea.

In every year ending in a 7, the Stanley Cup has gone to either a Canadian team or to Detroit. In 2007, the Red Wings lost to the Ducks, who went on to win the Cup and bring this streak to an end. In 2008, we did not face the Ducks, and we won the Cup. In 2009, we were supposed to lose to the Ducks as our punishment for breaking the Rule of 7, but we didn't. Chicago is an O6 team, so our mojo was equal to theirs, and so we lost to Pit to bring balance to the Force.

Yep. Homer's cousin's kid and Lilja's kids too.

Leafs and Kings. We don't have to worry about facing either one in the SCF (barring a huge upswing in Toronto) and any Kings victory against a team not wearing the Winged Wheel helps us in the standings.

Yep, and there's a nice little story here: Nice little story
