I do not like it, cold or hot. I do not like it in a pot. I do not like it with some cream. I do not like it when I dream. I do not like it with a scone. Or in a mocha ice cream cone. I do not like it, Little Mike! I do not like! I do not like! The person below me has tried actual green eggs and ham.

Scary stuff. Hope he recovers fully and quickly.

I hate zombies and people dressed up like zombies and shows about zombies and pictures of zombies. -
Nope. Up next for you: Wedding or funeral?

I saw him in Omaha a number of years ago. He was here at the dome, but I just don't have money for that sort of thing any more. If you'd have paid for the tickets, I'd have gladly gone with you. And had a lot of fun, I think. Heck, people might have bought you drinks for being such a nice boy to take his grandma out. The person below me is currently on a committee.

I was just wondering what would have happened had Roy been traded elsewhere. He wasn't the only reason the Avs were as good as they were, but he was a big part of it. Who were the "bubble" teams from back then? Imagine how different things would be had he been traded to one of those! (I get a lot of truck ads, but I get the Asian chicks too. I'm more interested in the trucks. Nothing against Asians or women, of course.)

...and Florida was stuck using Kopecky for it's model. Pretty cool. I love how the older teams seem to go forever and then, all of a sudden, they add that newfangled piece of equipment called a "helmet".

yep. He asked to be pulled after 9. Mwahahahaha.

Samuelsson signs new contract....... with Djurgarden.

Exactly, HS. I liked the guy a lot. Quite frankly, if someone offered me big money to return to an old job that I liked but couldn't do as well as I once did it, and I knew they knew all about my physical state, I'd sure give it a go, especially if I was unemployed and looking for work. I just wish he could have played one more game (not necessarily for us) to hit the 700 mark. Best wishes, Sammy! -
Happy dance. Happy dance. Now just give us DannyD and I'll be happy. EDIT: Make that "I'll be totally happy". I'm now happy enough to be doing a happy dance. When we sign Danny I'll be doing a happy backflippy kind of dance. Right now it's more of a happy cha-cha.

Just a request: My mom is a Wings fan. Please do not show her these sweaters or let her know that they are in my price range. Thanks.

The ones for other teams are the same except for the colours and logo. Can you imagine how awkward it would be to show up for work and have a Chicago fan wearing the same sweater except in their colours? Someone would have to go home and change.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=727093&navid=nhl:topheads I'll admit that I'm not at all a math or numbers person, but I've done some reading on Corsi and Fenwick. I've been wondering how much weight stats have in coaching decisions such as ice time and line combos as well as for the GM decisions with drafting and trading. It sounds like Babs has a good handle on using them as a tool in his kit rather than the sole deciding factor, which I see as a good thing.

That's where I read it! I remember reading something about Datsyuk and stats, but I couldn't remember what it was. Now we'll have to call him the Measuring Man. Or the Standard Man. Nah, Magic Man has a better ring to it.

June 17th for me. (the day before Sir Paul, BTW) The person below me has a food allergy.

St. Pat's. I'm not a beer drinker, but I can wear green. Today: Are you feeling good or feeling well? Or neither? Or both?

If it was in a dream, I know what I'd do. (This comes from the gal who drempt she was hunting Bigfoot with Danny DeKeyser.) If it was in real life, I'd probably be too shy to say anything. The person below me always uses "less" and "fewer" correctly.

Everyone has a job to do. If you're in PR, you have a responsibility to the team to make the team look good. That's what they hire you to do. The team is the one who's paying the PR guy, not the newspapers. As for reporters/bloggers, they can write whatever they want within the laws of libel and the standards of their paper (in the case of reporters). If the PR guy for the Wings doesn't work well with some reporters/bloggers who don't report the team in a good light, he's just doing his job. It doesn't silence the reporters/bloggers. It just means that they don't have a red carpet that leads straight to their information. There's news and there's opinion. If a reporter is reporting news (i.e. Wings sign Player X) then what will be reported is the facts. If the reporter is posting opinion (i.e. Player X is the next big thing) then that is what will be published. The PR people have a responsibility to provide the news reporters with their facts. Any opinion reporters can take those facts and comment at will, but it's the PR guy's job to see that the news reporters get accurate data. As a hyper-fan, I'd love to get more inside information, but these guys are people with lives and it's also the PR guy's job to protect that whilst still giving fans access to the players. If you work for the team, you're not going to work with a reporter/blogger who wants access so he can rip a player apart or throw him under the bus. That's not taking care of your team, which is part of your job. There has to be a level of trust there if we expect the players to open up to the media for us. I'm checking the news daily in hopes of seeing "Danny DeKeyser re-signed" and when I do, I will first seek out the facts, and then come here to get all of the opinion I can handle on the subject. Sure, I will probably read some opinion articles and some blogs if I run into them, but at the end of the day, any one of us here who is reasonably literate could be a blogger if we really wanted to.

No one should be issued a driver's license unless they are literate enough to read the instructions on the gas pump. They should also be smart enough and pay close enough attention to directions to be able to follow the directions. You would not believe how many times a day I have to go out to the pump and explain that "lift nozzle and press start" does not mean that you bang on the start button a dozen or so times without touching the nozzle, nor does it mean that you lift the nozzle and stand and stare at the pump. It also blows my mind that people who can't find the big start button have no trouble finding the little help button. Tip: All the help button does is make a noise inside the store. If there is only one person working and there are customers in the store, you will not get help until the store is empty. If the person working is in the cooler or freezer, they will not hear the call for help. In short, pushing the help button does nothing unless there is more than one person working. You might as well not bother unless you are the only customer in the lot. -
Darn, saw "Granato" and thought it might be the other one. Oh, well. Welcome, Tony.

Yeesh. I'm just glad you guys already used your two buyouts. As far as HF goes, I'm pretty sure professional contracts don't preclude doing a bit of fancy stickwork for charity organizations, so there should be no problem with him putting in a little time with HF. It's for the kids.

If you can meld Chris Chelios and Kris Draper into one person, I'm on board with that.

Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Kronwall are our youth movement! Speaking of which, I was just reading on NHL.com that Pavel, Hank, Weiss, and Helm are all healthy and looking forward to training camp. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=726120&navid=nhl:topheads

Confused on the direction of this team going forward
55fan replied to RainingBlood's topic in General
Franzen jumped first, for which I don't blame him. He was coming off a season that few had predicted. Hossa was coming off yet another good season. His playoffs were bad due to injury. I don't remember when it was that Franzen re-signed, but I thought it was a great deal at the time. Hossa knew he could make more elsewhere, even though he'd probably have stayed if the money was right. Franzen wasn't sure if anyone else would offer that plus he wanted to stay in Detroit. (The part about Hossa is a guess. The part about Franzen was what I remember him saying, but after this amount of time, I have no link for it.) As to the direction of this team, I'd say it's getting younger, but still with some veteran presence. If this means a lag whilst the young guns get a couple years of experience under their belts, than it is what it is. I just hope they don't wait until Kronner, Dats, and Z are old to get another Cup. -
He's a booster. That means Matt has him under contract as a Wings fan. He's OURS!
