    The injury thread

Thanks for posting. I knew Homer didn't look like himself. I was afraid his age was catching up to him. Hopefully some rest does him good. Lids: can't say enough about him.

    The person below me game...

Nope, I just put out bags. No cans. (and I found that mailbox key between the seats of my truck!) The person below me gets lulled to sleep in a moving vehicle if they're not driving.

Ooh, tough one. Right now I'm more in the mood for steak. Long hair or short?

Draper ticked that Crosby snubbed Lidstrom

That's pretty much what I meant in saying he would not do it next time. He was in a new situation, the most exciting of his life. I'm sure he was surrounded by people and just lost track of what was going on. I don't think it was on purpose at all. He did join in eventually. I think if he had the experience that Lidstrom had of having won it before he got the C, he would have been more aware. That's not a snub on Sid. It's easy to get carried away in the moment.

Draper ticked that Crosby snubbed Lidstrom

Why, Nick Lidstrom, of course! Seriously, Sid is in a nasty position. He can't fart without people analyzing what he might have eaten to produce it. He has held up quite well, especially for one so young. I'd be wishing for my life back. I don't deny his talent, nor his abilities. I have to ask why the league needs a poster child. Why not showcase young, up-and-coming talent alongside veterans who have earned their status? Back to the topic: When Lidstrom won the Cup for the first time as Captain, he had already won other Cups as an alternate, as well as being a Conn Smythe winner. He was probably more aware of what to expect, and how things went on the ice as far as emotions and overcoming circumstance in favour of protocol. If Sid wins again, I am sure he will make a concentrated effort to be leading the handshake line.

    The person below me game...

Nope. Just a land line. The person below me is in for a scorcher today, weatherwise.

Ken Hollands Backup plan (its worked before)

If we can't re-sign Hossa, and if we could get Mats as cheap as a Kansas City hooker, then I'd be ok with it. He's at the end and would die for a Cup. We want it back. He's not my first choice, but I could live with him in a limited role.
  8. He's under contract with them. He succeeded. They congratulated him. I'd love the same from my employer. I just get a certificate.

Who is worse to lose to

Your post brought a smile to my face. Just thinking about how every team really brought it when they played us this season, and how Pit is going to have to do that next season gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

    The person below me game...

Isn't that like pole dancing, only sideways? No. I don't know how to do any kind of dancing. The person below me sunburns easily.

Truth. Dares make me nervous. ramen or macncheese? (yeah, I have to decide before any of you make the decision for me)

Who is worse to lose to

I would rather lose to the Pens. I just hate Pronger that much. Sid is overhyped, but that's about all I hate about him, and it's not really his doing. Even if he tries a cheap-shot, it just looks like the naughty little boy throwing a tantrum that you half want to laugh at and half want to turn over your knee to teach him a lesson. I can respect Staal and Fleury (except during interviews when I can't keep a straight face), and I kind of like Gonchar. On the Ducks, there's what? Selanne? Beyond that, no one. And then there's Perry- a Pronger in training, but without Pronger's capabilities. I tried to do a face-morph thing for the photoshop thread mixing him and Tinkerbell. The eyes changed slightly, but that was about it. If I have to lose to someone, I'd rather lose to a team that at least played the game without gooning it up. I still haven't forgotten Pronger's elbow to Homer in '07, nor his attempt on Stevie in '02 when he was with the Blues. I never, ever want to see that man lift the Cup again. I'd honestly rather see Sid with it. I know that's just me, and I respect those who think differently. It sucked losing to the Pens too. Edit: I should probably add that I'm just reacting to the specific teams, not that losing to an Eastern team means we made it further. Of course I want to get as far as we can, and that means facing a team from the East, but that didn't enter into my post. Carry on.

I need a vacation from work, but not a travelling vacation. Know what I mean? The person below me has undies with flowers.

    Babcock coaching philosophy?

Could you translate this for an old lady? Do you mean that he is ill at the moment? Or do you mean that he is far out and groovy and should have been playing rather than being forced to wait? I think Babs balances the young ones (GR boys, Lebda, Huds), the middlers (Z, Kronner, Mule), and the experienced ones (Drapes, Malts, Lids) quite well. Each bring something to the table. The kids bring the exuberance, the older ones bring the poise and experience, and the middlers bring both. I must say, though, that it always strikes me as funny when a bladder control product is yelled at an aging group. But that's just me, not normal people. I'm not sure what happened to Homer this year, but the other veterans who played are ones who are either good during the regular season, or are ones who kick it up a notch for the playoffs.

    The person below me game...

Nope, longest I've had recently was 2 hours to Mom's house. The person below me has lost something important. (or, the person below me knows where my mailbox key is -which would be lots more helpful.)

    Ian Laperriere

I was under the impression that Howard is out of options, so rotating him and Larsson wouldn't be possible. I agree that Hudler will be lost to an offer sheet, and that Ericsson is ready. I'm not sure how I feel about Lappy. I have an Avs-fan friend who thinks he's great, but I think there are better FA's out there. I like Grier, though.

    The person below me game...

Had I read your post at the time it was posted, I would have been ready, but since it's been over for 11 or so hours, I guess not. The person below me likes sitting in a recliner with their feet propped up.

    This or That

No idea what Buddy's is, so I'll go with Little C's. (Snus is pasteurized like they make it in Sweden; chew is fermented. Now that I've tried snus, I'll never go back to chew. I didn't expect most people to know that. Most people think non-alcoholic beverages for pasteurized and alcoholic beverages for fermentation, so that was what I was really asking. It was just the snus that got me thinking about it.) Hall or Oats?

Crosby didn't shake our players hands?

I believe that Bettman did say his same speech as last year about 2 great teams and let's hear it for the Wings and Pens, but he was getting drowned out by the boobirds and wanted to get on with giving the Cup to Sid. I was annoyed that he made more fuss about Sid being the youngest captain than he did to Lids last year being the first Euro born/trained captain. In all fairness, I think he rushed through it all to get away from the booing. I sometimes get the feeling people don't like him, poor guy.

    Thank you Matt

I have 2 people in real life that like hockey. I have more people on my friends list here than I have people that I actually like in real life. Thanks for giving me a place to share with others and to get things off of my chest. Thanks for giving me a place to learn more about hockey from the intelligent people here who know the game. Thanks for giving me a place to witness some of the greatest comedy on earth. So... whatdaya say we do it again next season?

What You'll Remember Most From This Season?

Visiting Dad over New Years and watching the Winter Classic New Year's Day, a tape of the '97 final game on Friday, and going to our last game together vs the Wild on Saturday. 3 days=3 wins (yeah, so one was taped. It still counts.) The Grand Rapids kids showing us how bright our future is. Malts' and Drapes' 1000th games. Ozzie's redemption. Mindfly calling me a fat cow in the GDT. Zata and Mule becoming Wings for life. Good times. Fond memories. There is a story about a boy in Africa who wanted to give his teacher a special present. For 3 days he walked through rough and dangerous ways until he reached the ocean, and he returned with a jar of sand. The teacher commented that it was a lot of work for a jar of sand. The boy replied, "Teacher, the journey was part of the gift." And so it is with the Wings. We may not have the ending we wanted, but we've had months of excitement, with more joys than sorrows. Their gift to us is the journey. Next year, folks. Next year.
