Yes, we would be. We'd be sad as can be about the loss of our best d-man. The loss of Gonchar is a great loss for Pit. He's a great player. We'd feel the loss of Lids more because he's ours (it is a Wings board- you have to expect more Wings fans here). This doesn't mean that we're glad for injuries to other players (unless it's Pronger). It just means it doesn't effect us hockey-wise when it is someone from another team. As a fellow human being, it is too bad and I hope he isn't in too much pain and recovers well. If we seem indifferent to him as a hockey player, it's because he isn't on our team. If we seem indifferent to his lot as an injured human, please consider that we are usually thinking about people in hockey terms here.

Too bad for Gonchar. I actually kind of like him. Must be the number Bad collision, but no intent to injure. Hope he's OK and playing soon, but I'm not holding my breath. Those knee injuries hurt and can take some time to heal. Best wishes to him.

Koko is keeping his time-honoured tradition of being injured in the playoffs. This time he took another guy out for 5 crucial minutes. His playoff performance is improving year to year. By 2017 he should make it all the way to the end of the playoffs. By the time he retires, he'll still be playing well into July, having taken out 12 of the opposition's players in the SCF. This is not a prediction; this is merely what he's "on track" for. Seriously, best wishes to him as he recovers.

Any time any player for the Wings stands up and drops the gloves, I applaud him for it. I may look back and analyze it and see that it was bad timing, or a mismatch or something later, but at least he's not afraid to get his hands dirty. I guess I applaud the balls it takes to trade punches. , That said, I hope Kokopuffs gets some serious time with a trainer. He's got the size to be a tough guy, he just needs the skill.

The Ducks are my most-hated current team, but they have a looooooooooooong way to go to match Colorado of the 90's. The Ducks have done some damage- Pronger's elbow to Homer's head, Brown's stick to Hudler's head... but nothing like what Lemeow did to Draper. We have a long way to go before someone has to avenge this: And even then, who on this team will go out there and do it? Drapes was seriously injured. Mac and Drapes had a solid friendship that gave Mac's revenge an extra edge. Turtle was unrepentant. Ok, Pronger was unrepentant about Homer's head, but that's about where the similarity ends. If they do more damage to us and we get them back, then maybe we will start another epic rivalry, but right now, it doesn't look like we have the players to make it happen.

I've been calling for the Equine Line (Hoss-Filly-Mule) since someone coined the term. Just sorry I don't remember who it was so I can give them credit, but I tip my hat to them. Obviously they not only have a cool name, but they produce. That line has been out there before and produced fairly well. My theory is that Babs has been mixing the lines up all season and making mental notes, but not sticking with one lineup for long periods of time so that he can do these mixups mid-game. The guys will have had some time to become familiar with the different combinations, so no worried about chemistry, but other teams will not have enough time to break down video of every single unit he has put out there and learn to defend against every combination. He has more than enough talent to mix and match. He can pick out what's not working at the moment and replace it at will. Sometimes you get a spark, sometimes you get a blowtorch. Tonight they got a flamethrower.

I like that so many players I hate are all in one convenient location. Trade Selane for Tootoo and they will be perfect.

Be careful what you wish for. I wouldn't put it past some people to do that. In fact, there are some who might enoy it. If the Ducks go to the SCF, your penance is to wear a t-shirt of the screen shot of the guy sticking the eggs up his butt with the caption "Go Analheim!"
