Pretty much what I was thinking. Add to that that CBJ finally making the playoffs will be a great incentive to them. I doubt they'll go beyond the 2nd round, but they'll really be wanting it.

Babs called him Big E in an interview. Beats trying to spell Ericcson.

It's my theory that given his history and playing style that he will do just that. No sense breaking something and missing the playoffs. If he could be defensively more responsible during the season, the strategy will work out well. The only thing I want to see him break is records.

Lidstrom can't negotiate until next season (2009-2010), and that will be for a contract which starts in the 2010-2011 season. It won't help us get anyone this year or next. Once upon a yesteryear, before the PA got involved, the guys could renegotiate in the middle of the contract, but not any more. When Lids does sign a new contract (please, Dear Nick, don't retire yet), I'm sure it will be for a bit less. He will be on the down side of his career, such as a down side is for him.
