Perhaps one of our Swedish members can give an audio link to the actual show. Gary Bettman gave a telephone interview with Swedish radio personality Mattias Kjellsen about next year's season opener in Sweden. Here are some of the bits I found interesting. Full transcript can be found .

Sunday's game against the Wild moved to 12:30 on NBC

Actually, this was posted earlier in the week. Also, not all of the April Fools threads have been deleted; only the ones where the people who have caught on have not kept their mouths shut and played along. -

You think you've got it bad. I work the graveyard shift, get done at 7:00. Go home, change, head to church, teach 2nd through 4th graders in Sunday School, which lets out at 11:30, which is the time the game is on here. So I have to make the 20 minute drive home in 7 minutes to be here for the puck drop, and with the flooding, there are only 2 bridges open between Fargo and Moorhead, so I have to detour. <deep breath> On the other hand, at least I won't be hung over! -
Nick Lidstrom and Terry Sawchuck. If Terry had the pads they do now, he'd be unstoppable. Nick provides leadership, defense and occasional scoring, which is all you need with Sawchuck in goal. Also Nick can do it all in terms of PP and PK, and he can set up others to score. Not sure about the coach. Can we choose Herb Brooks? He's the one I admire most after Bowman. (I'm assuming that these guys will be alive and in their prime.)

If all accusations were true, I'd have killed the guy myself, and I don't say that lightly. I'm quite protective of my family. That said, I heard he met an "agent" in the Big House who'll make Kenny "an offer he can't refuse".

No cable. No commercials. Sorry. I remember the separated shoulder thing now that you mention it.

He being Weight? Yeah, he was with Carolina when they won it, wasn't he? Or am I getting old... (don't answer that). nm, Thanks for jumping HoH. I wasn't sure.

Love kettlecooked, but they get stuck in my tooth that's mostly gone. The person below me needs to water their plants.

I believe that the quote, taken in context with the rest of the article, makes it clear that he's talking about people who have been a different gender. Mattias Kjellsen is the former Inga Kjellsen.

I was waiting for the rickroll. I wouldn't cry if we got him cheap. He'd be a good replacement for a few players.

When I was a girl (back in the stone age) I wanted so badly to play hockey. I had my heart set on being a goalie in the NHL. I was sent to figure skating. I think that girls should be allowed in for as long as they can keep up. If that means that they need their own league in high school, college or semi-pro, then so be it. If they can stick it out and compete on a fair sheet of ice (like a fair playing field), then they should not be excluded on the basis of their gender. There should be no special considerations. No special rules. They should be competing as players. I have to ask, though. Those of you who are against the idea: If the Wings picked up a female player who was good enough to play with the team and brought skills to the table better than those she beat out, would you still watch, and if so, would you root for her?

Good to see from the comments left that people really like him there. I miss him, but this was better for his career. Best wishes go out to him.

That's what I thought at first, but it came out yesterday. Getting a jump on things like that is just not cricket.

I would have loved to, but I have never seen the Lions play live and in person. Why do we say live and in person anyway? If we're in person, we had better be live or we'd be dead. And if we are live, as opposed to it being a telecast, we are in person or we'd be having an out-of-body experience. The person below me has had a paranormal experience.
-
Oh, heavens. Now strap-ons. I don't like where this is going. Not one bit.
-
Dude, you're going to shave that before the playoffs start?
-
Be my guest. Mac will be up for the playoffs. He may not touch the ice, but he'll be here. He can be a great motivater.
-
I liked "Gimme that Cup!" So are the guys going to do a thread with their beards, and do we gals get to do a bracelet thread again this year? That was fun last year.
-
In phyed when I was a kid. The person below me had/has a Light Bright.

Are we talking by law? I suppose that would vary from state to state. I'd say 2, but they probably limited it to the one that had already pulled halfway into the intersection. The person below me would like to sleep a lot.

I've never attended a game in Detroit. Never even been there. The person below me prefers Chinese food over Mexican. (Not sure about the spelling either, but yes, HOCKEY MATTERS, you are right, and we are old.)
-
Never seen the Matrix movies, but I trust your judgement. The person below me wonders why Canadians have their own special bacon.
-
da da, da dum...fry it up in a pan...da da, da dum...and never ever let you forget you're a man. Yes I can. I just choose not to. The last part, that is. I can bring home bacon and fry it up, but I wouldn't impose on you to change my lightbulbs, mow my lawn, or shovel my walk, DKM. The person below me has no clue what that was all about. (It's an old perfume commercial, if you didn't know.)

I don't know if I did or not, but about 25 years ago I was shopping with my boyfriend, and I had something on the bottom shelf of the cart. We got through the checkout, and loaded stuff in the car. I was putting it in the car and I thought, "oh, did we pay for that? I don't know if she saw it." My bf checked the receipt and said it was on there, so we drove back home (60 miles). On the way home, he complained constantly that I was too honest, and if the girl hadn't seen it, it was her fault, not ours. I never saw the receipt. I was going to check it when I got home (I was driving), but my bf had lost it by then. Given what a rip-off con-artist he was with no morals or ethics at all, I have a suspicion I did indeed shoplift by accident. The person below me also feels guilty for things they did half a life ago.
