Yeah, I did mean the collective bargaining agreement, but I think Jack knew that and meant that he would have no clue what the contents meant. Heck, I fell asleep at page 25 and was totally lost. I have never seen The Office. The person below me has lost their purse (or wallet) and had to replace all of their ID and credit cards.

They may not have gotten out of bed and said "yawn, ok, let's go putter around a bit and see if we can win without trying", but there are certain aspects of their play that I think they are saving. Certainly not the goaltending. That's a "what you see is what you get". I'm thinking of the big open-ice hits we had in the playoffs. Kronner in particular was throwing them like there was no tomorrow. They might have toned those down during the season to avoid injury. Considering that every team turns it up a notch for the playoffs, I don't think that is far-fetched. I do think we'll be seeing that in a month or so. I think the attitude will be there, and the quality of play will follow. I do think that they're not bringing it every night like they would if they were #5 or 6 in the standings with others nipping at their heels. They are doing just enough to be at the top. Now, I don't believe that this is by design, as in they sat down at the beginning of the season with the schedule and planned out which games to tank, but I do think that they are not worried about certain teams, and this has bit them in the butt a couple of times. So if they are doing it on purpose and either coasting to save energy for the playoffs, or flying low so that other teams underestimate them, I wouldn't care. They're doing fine now in the standings, and if they bring home the Cup, that's what matters. Of course if they lose in the playoffs because of it, I'll be annoyed and suggest that they not do it again.

Give them back Rafalski?

Just a thought... Maybe the next CBA could have some sort of an agreement that the cap can't go down by more than x% over the previous year. Then at least they'd be able to plan a bit better instead of holding their breath and waiting.

Well, at least it was exciting. I feel that in the playoffs the team won't sit back on a lead. It's not a good idea at any time, but it just isn't done come playoff time. We took a chance doing so and lost. I must admit disappointment, but let that be a lesson to us. No lead is safe. Oh, and Kristi...I'll take my hand back now.
