    So what do we call the 26 - 15 - 21 line?

Thank you. Now I get it.

    Official Detroit Lions thread

Congrats to the Seahawks. We Lions fans understand what it's like to never have won a Superbowl. This gives us hope. Maybe someday it'll be our turn. Kudos to the Broncos for continuing to play at their best even when the game was out of reach. I can understand wanting to throw in the towel, but it's a testament to their character that they didn't. The Seahawks would probably have intercepted it anyway.

I've got "Don't Push Me" in my head. Had to share it on facebook. Too funny to keep to ourselves.

Two Toms and a Tink. The Future Line. The Fighting Slovaks. ("Fighting" for Sheahan's Notre Dame) The Graduated Griff Line. JST ice (pronounced justice). The Replacement Parts.

    The person below me game...

Are you kidding? Before I got online at a reasonable speed and was able to watch hockey on a regular basis, the end of football season began a serious withdrawal and depression for me. Hockey has saved me! (Go Seahawks!) The person below me likes Torts (the coach, not the law thingie).

Torts is hot and the use of mirrors (maybe) with the twins was hilarious.

Gustav Nyquist named to Team Sweden

Yay Gusgus! I wonder if it lessens the sting for Franzen knowing that a fellow Wings is going in his place.

What's wrong with Pasha? (Mod warning post #57)

Mickey just said (during the Vancouver game) that it's his knee and it's still sore, but he's skating and hoping to be back in Florida.

What's wrong with Pasha? (Mod warning post #57)

Between being the captain and having his home country hosting, you know the Olympics are on his mind. They only happen every four years. No one is asking if he wants to get healthy and play with the Red Wings. That's just a given. It will happen whether it happens this week or next month. The reporters are asking about the imminent Olympics. This is what he is answering questions about. I think that if the Olympics weren't this year, he'd be getting fewer interviews and the questions (and his answers) would be more centered around the Wings.

    Cory Emmerton waived

He was waived too. Maybe they'll be picked up by the same message board and live happily etherafter. Seriously, for all the crap Emdog got, he wasn't all that bad. I was actually relieved when he got called up this year because it was someone who already knew the system and the players. He fit right in without having to go through freshman jitters. Good call up, just not good enough to be here all the time.

What's wrong with Pasha? (Mod warning post #57)

Per Khan. 1/30/14 on MLive. Since it's an "unspecified lower-body injury", I'm guessing toothache, ear infection, or dandruff.

    Cory Emmerton waived

The kid was serviceable. I don't remember him doing anything bad or good, but he was there when we needed a 4th line center. If he gets picked up, I wish him well. If not, it's good to have an extra in the fold.

Am I missing something? (re: Tootoo)

The younger guys that we've been bringing up are also cheaper. Not saying that's the only reason; just saying that it's a factor.

    Franzen Placed on IR

That's really too bad. It's tough to have to miss games for the team, but you know you'll get to play when you get better. The Olympics only happen once every four years. I feel bad for him.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

Honestly, I think that you have to be in their shoes to make the decision. How many of you would bungee jump? Work graveyards in a convenience store alone? Go camping in Yellowstone? No way would I bungee jump (don't like heights) or camp where there may be bears and/or snakes. OTOH, I've worked graves in a c-store for years. Every time one gets robbed, people come in and ask me if I'm afraid. I don't understand what there is to worry about. If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen, and the odds are pretty slim. Of course, you could say the same about bungee jumping, camping with bears, dancing with wolves, flying in an airplane, driving a car, or playing hockey in Russia, but each of us has the place where we draw the line. We have our own risk/reward ratio. If I was chosen as an Olympian, I'd be on the plane, but that's just me. I can understand and respect the decisions of those who think that the risk is too great, but I'd go. Unless I was on a plane with a bungee jumping bear. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

Just for the sake of discussion, what would happen if they did ban the players and someone (say Pavel, for instance) said, "No games? I just going to watch. In Russia. See you in two weeks." and pretended to go home for the already-scheduled break. And then played for Russia. What would be the punishment? If you were in his shoes (home country, Captain of the team), how bad would those sanctions have to be to be "not worth it"?

    NHL may rethink Sochi

That is a very good point. I still feel that if other athletes are going as individuals representing their countries, the NHL guys shouldn't be treated differently, but your point is quite valid. The question (for the NHL) is whether or not the security issues are that pressing that it merits pulling their players when countries and individuals are not backing down. If nations were pulling out, I could see it. This could be a boon for countries with non-NHL players on their teams if it happens.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

It doesn't matter where games are held. If someone wants to be a terrorist, they're going to find a way to disrupt a public thing like this. I understand why the NHL would do this, but the players are going as private citizens, not as employees of the NHL and should be allowed to make their decision as private citizens. If an individual country decides not to participate, that's a different story since they are sending the athletes to represent them. I hope they go and that if any group is going to try anything that they are caught before anyone gets hurt and that they are seriously punished (death sounds good to me).

    1/28 GDT: Red Wings 0 @ Flyers 5

Our injury list is down to a single column! Go Wings. 65 minutes of hard hockey! If you only need 60, that's even better. You can be hard for the other five minutes doing whatever you want as a reward for only needing 60 during the game. Intermissions do not count in this time, nor does the warm-up or any time when the puck is not in play, unless it's in the netting and no one knows where it is. Wings win 3-1 Tatas, GusGus, and Tinky all score just because it sounds so darn cute. Gustafsson scores for the Flyers just because it would freak Wings fans out because people would think that it's Gustavsson. The end.

    Sheahan arrested for "superdrunk" driving

He is doing well. We all do something stupid when we're young that we wish we could take back. I just need to find something to call him other than "Tink".

    Sammy Waived

So now that he's officially gone, can we wish him well in life? I liked the guy, and was sad when he left. I love how he made me look like an idiot by scoring twice against Pittsburgh after I had told a friend how he couldn't score to save his life. Good luck, good health, and good fortune to you and your family, My Dear Swede.
