The Night has a Thousand Eyes- Bobby Vee

Night fever- the Beegees. (Harmph. Bet you're one of those high-falutin' fashionistas who has all your teeth, too, huh?)

I honestly don't expect anything to happen based on the past. Mac and Turtle played against each other a number of times after their last fight, and I believe at one point they called it pax. Drapes and Turtle have not made up that I know of, but they never fought either. If anything happens, it will be due to a new cheapshot on the part of Claude, not based on the events of a decade ago. But, oh my, wouldn't it be fun!

After pondering this, I have come to several conclusions. 1) Pierre is a bigger fruitcake than I thought. 2) The reason that hockey is not understood in much of the south is because it is not properly explained. In particular, fighting needs to be explained. I'm a redneck by heritage. We understand things like standing up for your friends. If there's a fight, have the announcer tell why it is happening. Not just alluding to a past event, but really telling what is up. "Well, Pierre, what's happening here is that last year the guy in the white shirt laid out a dirty hit on a friend of the guy in the dark shirt. So the guy in the dark shirt told the guy in the white shirt that he was gonna get it, and the guy in the white shirt said something nasty about the guy in the dark shirt's mama." I promise you every redneck on the planet will get that and be rooting for the guy in the dark shirt. Stand up for your friends and your mama. That's the redneck way. 3) Fighting is a part of hockey. Scoring and winning are more important, but you need to stand up and be accountable for your actions, and you need to protect your mates. 4) I got a paper cut from playing Candy Land once. Not a game for pansies like Pierre.

Redneck Woman - Gretchen Wilson (who, by the way, hails from Pocahantas, Ill, where my family holds our reunions, and where many of my relatives still live. Gretchen is not one of them, as far as I know. Redneck women rule!)

Hidden in his pads is a life-size cardboard cutout of himself. Sometimes he sneaks out for a cherry slushie. He just has to be careful not to spill it in the vicinity of a Wing getting penalized or it could double the infraction.

Technology had not advanced back when I watched the show, but nowdays the count could morph into anything. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know it since I don't watch any more. Wait a minute! Didn't they do the puff of smoke and then a bat on a stick where you had to pretend you didn't see the stick? I'm sure they did. Anyway, the person below me has lost a large sum of money due to their own stupidity.

That's just horrible. Words fail me.

Working here too. Happy that I have the part time gig to tide me over through the layoff, so I can't complain. I'm going with Homer, Kronner, Sammy and Malts. Sharks will be tough. They're a good team, and we'll have to play lights out to beat them. I'm guessing 4-3, with us squeaking by at the end for a breathtaking extravaganza of amazing hockey.

With three (I think) little kids, he probably just enjoys the peace and quiet.

I love that song! I'd Wait a Million Years- Grass Roots

I do. I have a scar on my fore head shaped like a lightning bolt. Seriously. I wear bangs to cover it up. I got a lot of crap for it in high school, which was some 20 years before the Harry Potter thing. Now it would be cool if I weren't middle-aged. The person below me has owned leg warmers.

If Tomorrow Never Comes- Garth Brooks

Nope. Not even with great joy (although the forecast is for above zero temps, which does bring me up to elation, if not intoxication). The person below me doesn't have a cell phone.

It's a sad story actually. He used to scuff up a lot of slush, put it in a nice square and use his skates to make a tic-tac-toe board. Then he'd use the blade end of the stick to make X's, and the butt end to make O's. He had to stop because the guys were making fun of him for playing with himself.

With Conk playing as he has, and Ozzie on the upswing again, I see no reason for a goalie here. Backstrom's good. No doubt about that; we just don't have anything (other than perhaps Lebda) that I'd like to part with right now. Certainly not enough to get it done. The Caps sound like a good option. They could part ways with Theodore and make room for him. If nothing else, they could sell a lot of tickets to hard-of-hearing, middle-aged women who want to see the Backstrom Boys. ETA: A thought entered my head. The Wild are trying to hold Gaborik. Maybe they'd be interested in trading for Kopy thinking that Hossa might follow, and Gaborik might stay. Will they have the cap space for that? I don't follow them that closely.

Never have. The person below me thinks it is just wrong to sell underwear on e-bay, even if it hasn't been worn. Clarification: They say it hasn't been worn, but who knows?

Don't Stop Thinkin' About Tomorrow- Fleetwood Mac (Timo Raisanen sounds like he would be a good hockey player You can have your bonus points.)

Scopes the crowd for ugly chicks so during timeouts he can raz Val and Huddie, saying the chicks like them.

If you ask me (and I realize you didn't, but that doesn't stop me ), Cheli's role can be summed up in the term "spare parts". Meech is a better d-man, but we need him as a forward too. With Mac out, there isn't anyone else to fill that position. So if we need a d-man, Meech gets the call. If we need a forward, Meech gets the call. If we need both, that's where Cheli comes in. (Meech was charley-horsed last night, and Lebda was benched, so in comes Cheli.) We could bring up Helm and Ericcson, if we didn't have Mac and Cheli, but they'd be sitting on the bench here. Letting them play in GR will only improve them for the future. The future will not include Mac or Cheli. They're at the end of the road. As long as we can keep the young ones in the system, before we have to worry about losing them to waivers, let them log the ice time. If we need them, they're call-ups. I predict that during the playoffs, we will be seeing more of Helm and Ericcson than we will of Mac, Cheli, Kopy or Lebda, unless Kopy and Lebda turn things around, and barring injuries, of course.
