"Pride cometh before the fall, and a haughty spirit..." something. I can't remember how it ends, but it could easily be "before a playoff upset." As long as the Wings give it their best, we will kick some butt. If they look too far ahead and don't treat Nashville as a legitimate threat, they may be upset. This is where the veteran presence in the locker room will be a huge asset for our team. The Red Wings can not underestimate Nashville. We, on the other hand, can confidently say that they will rout them, fillet them, saute them, wrap them in yesterday's newspapers, and throw them into the dustbin with a flourish.

wow. I really feel bad for him. 2 years playing with the big boys: 2 years out of the playoffs with injuries. (Cue the Kronwall fatalists: you have a new target.) Hopefully he will recover from this and stay healthy next year. He certainly has promise. Wheaties may be the breakfast of champions, but it seems our boys need Lucky Charms.

I don't know why I find it odd that CBJ has 4 guys out with head-related injuries. Are they playing soccer with the pucks? Wings will come back tonight and support the greatest goaltender in the whole darn league (can't call him by name since I've heard both as starter, but either way...) Wings 2 -Malts, Cleary CBJ- 1- deflection off someone's head. Ooh, another head injury.

Well, we need something to laugh at tonight (or this morning). Might as well laugh at ourselves. Ahem: I told you we needed to re-sign Lang!

Can't they just say they're advertising Red Wing shoes and Belle Tire and they combined the logos? Then they could keep the uniforms the way they are and collect the revenues. That's the joy of working graveyard shift: I've been getting people with April Fool jokes for about 8 hours now. All the same, nice one.

The nice thing about the playoffs is that you play the same team for at least 4 games. If you need a few enforcers for a particular team, you usually know that after the first game, and you can add them in. If not, then you put in others. Once everyone is healthy, we can put in the best players for each situation. Now, of course, begins the battle over which players are the best for the situation. Carry on.

Great job by both goalies. Glad Dom held on for the W. (Not liking Ellis, mind you, just giving credit where it is due.) So I didn't see the game, just listened to it, but it sounded like some of our big stars were out there less on 5 on 5's. Is this correct, or is that a false conclusion from the audio? It sounded to me like Huds and Kopy were stepping it up from how they were earlier on, and like Flip and Cleary are back in fine form. Yay for the W! Go Dom! Go Johan!

Fixed it for ya. Yeah, they get tested, but it only shows up after it is there and can be transmitted. (side note: I had to correct my typing. I had put an s at the end of tested instead of a d. Oops. )

Pure speculation here, but maybe they're letting Mac get a bit more in shape, what with his ribs and all. I hope to see him back soon. In the mean time, we'll just have to keep plugging away.

Nashville needs to win. We want to win. Will we rise to the occasion? That remains to be seen. (Preds): Tootoo Bonk, Arnott Tootoo Bonk (Wings): That is the question. Go Wings! Go Dom!

So would Drake's kids be ducklings? Maybe not. At any rate, they're cute. Nice to see that one too. Thanks again.

Beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing those.

I read tears as occular emmissions as well. Well, whether he is not torn or not crying, that's good news. I hope he's back to 100% and back in the game soon. GWS, Homer!

Congrats to Dallas Drake! Welcome back, Mac! Wings win it 4-0. Drake, Mac, Malts, Drapes because I'm sexy and Big Bird says I need help from a Ninja.

I am purely speculating here, so don't ask for proof because it is just coming from the vast void that is my brain. But what if......... It isn't necessary for us to win on Friday. Sure, we want to, but it's not like we won't make the playoffs if we don't. Maybe (giving Babs the benefit of the doubt) he is putting Mac in without Downey so that if something has to happen that is in the line of their specialty, it will have to be Mac that does it. With Downey scratched, he can't jump in ahead of Mac. If Mac has to prove himself against goons, the Blues is a great testing ground. Maybe Babs just wants to see what Mac has, and then, once Mac has proven himself (thinking positively here) he and Downey can play together. Kind of like telling the veteran player to pass to the rookie during the preseason to see if the rookie can shoot. Or something. Either way, Mac is Back, and all is right with my Wings World.

Cool! I'm a middle-aged woman who can't grow leg hair and feels guilty plucking out the face hairs during the playoffs. This is perfect. I did the playoff pits last year, but no one noticed. I need a life. String/yarn/floss/20 gauge wire. Whatever. I'm in.

I can't remember the details, but the worst one I heard involved Scott May and the announcer kept yelling "Get some , Scottie May" over and over and over. The soundtrack is burned into my brain. Wah, wah, wah: living proof that we are not going forward on this whole evolving thing.

He's not, but I am. Never hurts to give a guy a pat on the back every now and again. A pat on the backside, on the other hand, should be reserved for teammates and good friends.

Whew. That's a load off my mind. Just so you know, Matt, we're not downing you in any way. Just havin' fun. You do a great job here and we love it.

Why don't we wait until we find out who we'll be facing in the playoffs and put up their team picture?

If A-C-H-E spells ache, what is that thing on his face?

I've only been to one game since St. Paul is 4 hours away and I'm broke. My family got me a ticket for a Wild game for Christmas, and the Wild fans couldn't have been nicer. I sat by a couple who told me where to go for bathroom, drinks, all that stuff without having to climb the stairs (bad knee) and the one guy offered to take my picture with Zetterberg when he was in the penalty box. I declined for fear it would break the camera. Like you're going to fit me in a picture without a wide angle lens, anyway I did give a presentation on rabies for a class last year, and a gal came up to me afterwards and said it was really good except that I was wearing a Wings shirt. She's an Avs fan. It was in good fun, though. Not many NHL fans around here, so when you see pretty much any NHL logo, you usually stop and talk or at least smile. I get a lot more crap for my Lions gear.

I suppose we could have had "Here We Go Again"- for more consecutive years than anyone else. Or "Octopus guys: Fling It!" Or "AHL to the Rescue" Or "We Got Enforcers Now" I guess "Are You In?" is good given that we were in first. It's better than "We're In, We're Gonna Score, and We're Not Pulling Out Early This Year".

I recall reading something like that. I believe it was saying that when Nick retires he'll take Stevie's job and Stevie will take Kenny's. The big question is who'll take Nick's? Zata for captain. #1 d-man and All-Star Norris winner=? I guess we'll have to wait and find out.

As far as I'm concerned, Ozzie is like having the winning ticket to a $158 million lottery, printed on pretty paper with cute kitties (or doggies, or hamsters, or wombats, or whatever). Hasek is like having the winning ticket to a $158 million lottery printed on plain paper that comes with a stamped envelop so you don't have to pay postage to claim your prize. Ozzie is cuter, Hasek is sensible, but no matter which one you choose, you're still holding $158 million. I pick Hasek as the starter because I think he is slightly better, but also because I think Ozzie is better at jumping in on a moment's notice when the need arises. What I really want is to see both of them holding up that Cup.
