Wings look toward playoffs... as favourites.

Moosefarts. Oh, my, that killed me. I think that knowing how the Ducks play and how the powers that be favour them should be good incentive to show them up in the playoffs no matter when we meet them. If, by chance, we don't meet them, I hope someone else shows them. Crime doesn't pay. Good shall prevail. All that stuff. It is nice to know that we get some respect. I like it that it comes from the other players. <enter doom'n'gloom mode> but, on the other hand, it means that they know they'll have too play extra hard to beat us, so they'll be ready.

Anyone picture Franzen as a 20-goal man?

To be entirely honest, I have underestimated Franzen terribly. Johan, I'm sorry. Keep up the good work.

    Pronger Suspended 8 Games

Nah, it just means there is some good in my Penguin-fan bartender. He's not a band-wagon Pen fan. He's been a fan since long before Crosby, so I respect him. Happy b-day, BTW.

He was a Wing. He doesn't have to be your personal hero.

Note to League: We are Just Better

You had to challenge me, didn't you? I spent the weekend with my Godson, which means we watched all 6 movies at least once, and most of them twice. Here goes: Luke Skywalker- Hank. The star of the team. The hero. Han Solo- Dats. Always there for the assist. Doesn't hog the spotlight. Chewbacca- Homer. Does whatever is needed to fix it so it works, and pretty darn cuddly too. Princess Leia- Franzen. Kind of lurks in the background until we really need him, then comes out on fire. Yoda- Cheli. When 900 years old you are, this good you should look. Wise and powerful teacher of younglings who can still kick it when needed. Mace Windu- Lids. Wise, reserved (and totally hot). Good decision maker and leader. Obi-Wan Kenobi- Cleary. Padawan who has taken the trials and is becoming a powerful Jedi, er, Red Wing. Jar Jar Binks- Sammy. Me-sa gonna shoot now, okey-day? Ki-Adi-Mundi- Dom. Great intellect with wisdom and power. Jango Fett- Downey. Seriously, can we clone this guy? Bail Organa- Ozzie. Behind the scenes until he has to show up and make a big save. The Jedi counsel- Drake, Malts, Drapes (as well as others listed above). Teaching the next generation while remaining active in the fight. Qui-Gon Jinn- Jiri Fischer. Powerful and great. Taken from the team too soon. The Emperor- Bettman. Duh. And finally: Anikin Skywalker- Matthieu Schneider. Was a hero until he turned to the Duck Side. (I love Schneids, but I couldn't resist.)

    Pronger Suspended 8 Games

That is what makes me hate him so. Last year he was on one of those late-night shows with the Cup. I really tried not to watch as it was making me sick. I was at the bar with a non-hockey-fan friend, and I was explaining the hit on Homer to her and how he excused himself by saying he's too tall to know where his elbows are (Hey, Pronger, they're standard equipment- get used to them). As I was explaining this, they showed the hit on McAmmond, and Pronger was laughing about it! I got so upset that the hockey-fan bartender had to settle me down by giving me a free drink, which was cool of him. That's why Pronger gets me. He does these things, gets away with it (or, in this case gets a slap on the wrist), and gets more cocky about doing it again. I don't wish bad things on people, but if he gets what's coming to him in a clean fight or a case of karmic retribution (think the Yzerman hit), I'll be cheering. Personally, I have more respect for someone who makes a bad decision in the heat of the moment and realizes it later, and regrets what he did. Pronger will only issue an apology if it suits his purposes, and I would bet he'd be smiling through it. Insert nasty words of your choice here: I'm at a loss for them.

The "NHL is Messed Up Because..."

I can live with the 4th one, although I do think there should be a bit more overtime before going to the shootout. I do like actually having a winner. Points awarded for losing is kind of dumb, but if that were the worst thing in the NHL, we'd be in good shape. As for numbers 1-3, you nailed it.

Yeah, I was joking there. They have to take care of the few they have.

What flavour? Plain is gross, but if you mix berry and vanilla skoal it is quite tasty and nice-smelling. Throw in a bit of peppermint for special occasions. I quit 4 years ago due to an ulcer, but times like this, I miss it. At least it is something you keep to yourself (spitting is GROSS) and it doesn't bother others like smoking can (you no likie, stay outta my housie). Seriously, I am allergic to perfume, cologne and aftershave, so if someone is bothered by my smoking, I don't do it around them because I can relate. That's where chew comes in handy. Hank and Homer do it too. I once had a pic of them and you could see the cans in their pockets. Someone pointed them out. I can't believe I didn't notice them. I was looking closely at the picture. I guess the Swedes have their own kind. Another Babs thought: I don't know if he ever smoked or if he does, but if that's the case, he can't smoke in the Joe anyway, so he'd have to do something. I don't think hockey player should chew gum. It's not good for their teeth.

    KronVall article

Isn't this odd how an article about how Kron(yourchoiceofVorWorVV)all is becoming a major force for the team and how great he is improving is now a V vs W thread? i'm just glad no matter how he spells it that the NHL is realizing his improvment in scoring, passing, seeing the ice, making smart plays (which is what he really needed to improve), and that he's still blocking shots and laying out hits on guys that will make them think they were hit by a mobile brick vall. And it's Kronuuall- spelled with a double u.

    KronVall article

I've seen things in Swedish (not that I am literate in Swedish, but I can recognize letters) that spell it with the V. As long as Nik says W. I say "Nik for the W!"

    KronVall article

There was something about being identified as a number that appealed to me (my friends here call me 55, or fivedy-five). I really chose it since he is my fave along with Mac; but, unlike Mac, when I first started here, Kron()all bashing was in vogue and I felt it behooved me to stand up for him, but in an understated way. Now that he's back on the "good" list, it just makes me feel happy. I loved him for what he did outside the NHL and felt that it would carry over once he got used to the NHL. I just wanted something where I could say "I believed in him" when others were bashing. He really has come a long way, and he is showing leadership skills that I hadn't known he had. Besides, iluvnikilicious would have brought on derision, and rightfully so.

    KronVall article

How about a compromise? We'll just spell it Kronvvall. Not to change the subject, but I think it is cool that he credits Hasek, Lidstrom and Cheli as role models. I just like him more all the time, and I'm glad to see he's getting credit for his hard work, both offensively and defensively. I haven't seen a game since Stuart started, but from the sounds of it, they seem comfortable playing together. Anyone who gets the game on TV care to comment on that? Do they look good? I'm really glad to hear he's trying to learn to play smarter. He needs to avoid those injuries.

    What's wrong with Sammy lately?

Trade deadline is past. He doesn't have to worry about another team wanting him. Seriously, I agree that it's the pre-playoff thing going on.

    Reminder: Posting Etiquette

Yeah, it was intentional. You know, foul language. Foul sounds like Fowl. Ducks are Fowl. Kind of a play on words. One other question: Is there a limit on which dieties can be mentioned in circumstances that have nothing to do with them? It seems like Jesus (and/or) Christ gets all the interjective use around here. Shouldn't we be more open and inclusive in our blaspheming?

Can't help with Iginla as I don't have much of a problem with him (far from one of my faves, just don't class him with Pronger). As for Pronger: Arrogant, Bratty, Classless, Dorky, Egotistical, Fickle, Grating, Horrible, Instigating, Jerky, Kinesque, Lousy, Monsterous, Neandrathalic, Overgrown, Psychotic, Quibbling, Repugnant, Slimy, Terrible, Underhanded, Verminesque, Worthless, Xerostomic, Yipping, Zebra-kissing idiot who doesn't even know where his blessed elbows are at any given moment. Yeah, I know, I was reaching on a few of those. Especially X. I challenge anyone to do better. Point being, yes, we can insult even Pronger without resorting to fowl language. Stupid Ducker, that he is.

    3/11 GDT: Red Wings 3, Blackhawks 1

Chicago has not been kind to us this season. Wings 4 (Kronner, Johan, Sammy, Lilja) Chicago 3 (Do Lang, Do Lang, Do Lang) GO WINGS!!!

    3/9 GDT: Red Wings 4, Predators 3

We play them on the 15th (home), 20th (away), and 30th (home). Man, I can't believe the season's almost over. Is it just me or has it gone fast?

Top 5 Favourite Players of All Time?

No way I can limit it to five without resorting to names like Dominopher McYzerdatswallerbergionovstromula. You must admit it: he's a well-rounded player, but a team of him would kill the salary cap. OK, if I must narrow it down: 1/2: Kronner and Mac (hard to decide on order) 3: Hank 4: Ozzie 5: Drapes/Malts Dagnabbit, just can't do it.

    3/9 GDT: Red Wings 4, Predators 3

I also had the misfortune of having to listen to the Pred common taters. I wanted to mash them. Ugh, rotten. So I was wondering if that wxyt link is good for all games or if that was just a today thing. I miss listening to Ken and Paul. Paul drives me nuts, but not as bad as the Pred guys. Any input would be hot. Thanks.

    3/9 GDT: Red Wings 4, Predators 3

Agreement with all who have said that the W is the important thing. One thing this recent trip through dispair (melodrama- expect organ music soon) has taught us is that we win or lose as a team. No one person or position can do it alone. If the d is down, the scoring will not be there. If teams figure out how to stop Z and Dats, the secondary has to step up. We are doing that again with healthy players returning at a regular basis. Franzen has been great lately. Huddie found the net (it's behind the guy with the funny hat) and Stu scored his first Wing goal. Lids and Kronner each had a couple of assists......well, you all saw the game. My point is, when we're good, we're good as a team. When we're not, we're not as a team. The goalies can't save us every time, although they are certainly a credit to the team. Without them, I don't think we'd have as many wins as we have. Superstars are nice, but whether they are Crosby, or AO, or Hasek, they can't do it alone, and that is what makes the Wings strong: we have the super players in Dom, Nick, Z, and Dats, but we also have the backup to support them. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now. I need to go lie down until the feeling goes away. Good game, boys!

    3/9 GDT: Red Wings 4, Predators 3

Perhaps "bitching" is a bit of a harsh word. Let's call it "nay-saying". At any rate, Dom had some great saves. The team as a whole looked good until they went on a coffee break or something. One man can't do it alone. I was hoping for Johan to get the hattie, but oh, well. Congrats Franzen on your first multi-goal game! Woohoo for Yoooo! Don't get me started on Dirty Dan O'Halloran. <growl>
