Kronner, Sammy, Huddie, Lilja, and Lebda all score goals. Hasek gets the Win (not tempting fate with the Word). They all gather at center ice after the game and wave to the camera. What we know, because we read it here, is that they only look like they're waving, but inside their gloves, they're really flipping the bird to all those who wanted them on the next bus to Anywhere Else. Wow. Talk about culture shock. I'm glad I don't live in a big city because I don't even lock my house unless it is windy. And I'm trailor trash. We always leave cars running, but most people have an autostart. Both for the same reason: it's freaking cold here. I'm not sure what it says about big cities when y'all are shocked that someone would leave a car running, and I'm shocked that someone would take something that doesn't belong to them. Kind of scary when the latter is considered normal behaviour, and the former is questionable. Oh, well, he got it back, no one was hurt, and it's fun to say "Phaneuf".

Since it's going to be a bit before we have to decide, I think they are both very well aware that they are under the microscope. Let's see who plays better in the days ahead. The other side of this is that if Lebda/Lilja sits, do we have room to keep Meech (once our injured start coming back, of course) or do we have to send him back down? Personally, I'm torn between Lebda and Lilja. Lil is good defensively (blocked shots) and Lebda has the speed. It's hard to choose between the different styles. Right now, with all the injuries, I think Lilja is more needed because of his defensive skills so that the forwards can concentrate on scoring, but that will change. Wow, a post that basically says, "I don't know".

I detest Pronger for his hit on Homer last year. I also detest what he tried to do to Stevie, but I have to laugh that it bit him in the butt (figure of speech). I love to see him get what is coming to him as long as it happens in the context of the game or in a fair fight with a proper enforcer. I especially like it when his own dirty play causes him to reap the consequences. That said, as much as I loathe him, I do not wish him dead. I wish good things for him, like spending quality time with his lovely wife and children this spring after the first round of the playoffs. Immediately after.

I read that article and didn't even catch that. Thanks for bringing it up. We need smiles where ever we can get them. Maybe he did what I threatened to to when I hit 40 and started counting backwards.

Hope your friend gets well soon. My arthritis is acting up (probably due to the fact it was -32 degrees F this week) and I have a bad disc from -you guessed it- falling on the ice. What we need is to petition Fate, Karma or whatever Force decides these things and have our injuries credited to the Wings. Heck, my back alone would keep Kronner healthy through the rest of his contract!

SHHH! Don't let that out or people will want to trade Sammy for her. You don't really want Sammy for a grandmother, now, do you? I'm not seeing a definate victory over Edmonton, but at least our GR boys have a game or two under their belts. I have to wonder if it isn't easier for them, on some level, to come into the league being paired with a defenseman with whom they are familiar. Not only do they know that person's habits and tendancies, but they also don't have the pressure of being paired with a living legend like Nick or Cheli.

Back to the point of the thread (novel idea, I know), I hadn't even heard of Stafford before now. As much as we hate what's happening with injuries, the silver lining to the cloud is that we get to see what the future holds. If Stafford can impress, more power to him. I'm liking what I'm hearing about JonErik (Can we start that as a new nickname? I kind of like it.) and Quincey impressed me in the playoffs last year. I'm still kind of undecided about Meech, although I have nothing against him.

I strongly dislike the Flames, but I did think it was nice of Tanguay to acknowledge Lids and Raf. I also thought it was nice that he noted that his goal was a fluke, rather than just being silent about that part of it. I didn't know the Wings had 18 on their helmets as I only heard the game rather than seeing it. Thanks for passing that on.

Can I hug you? That is exactly what I've been trying to tell myself. I'm so glad to see it in print. As far as Homer goes, he is only as hot as the guys he play with. That is really his role on the team. He corrects their slight miscalculations and annoys the goalies. When Dats and Z are able to get their scoring back, Homer will be right back up with them. What we really need is for our other forwards to start scoring, but they are in the same position of having to make up for a lack of D. Nik is back Tuesday. It's a step in the right direction.

I totally agree that Dats and Hank have to step it up. A 1-0 loss is not to be laid on the defense. The offense needs to contribute as well. Lilja and Lebda are not the goal scorers that Lids and Raf are. Hank and Dats need to step up, as do all the forwards. We've had a bad case of post-goalie syndrome (if it doesn't hit the post, it hits the goalie). I say tonight they will go out and prove to the world that we may not have a defense, and we may be playing an AHL goalie, but dagnabbit, we still have an NHL offense! Wings take this one. Wings: 2, Franzen (assist: Lilja) and Lebda (assist: Drake, finally). Nucks: 1, Deflect off Lilja's body or equipment so people can forget his assist and offer him up as trade bait. Go Griffins! Go J-Ho! Get Well Soon, Wings!

Gus is out with a displaced adrenal gland. Seriously, I think they call up from... dang... is it Toledo? Flint? Somebody help me out here. It's going to drive me nuts.

At least our boys have access to good medical services. Maybe with the voodoo run we've had lately it wouldn't be a bad idea to call in a witch doctor. As long as we're not taking them to a vet and saying, "hey, can you fix this guy?" Get well soon, guys. We miss you all.

Let's all just cross our fingers and hope for the best. Kind of "take your kid to work day" happening. Well, let's make the best of it and look on it as a nice chance to see what our future looks like. I'll be under the couch getting pickled. Go Wings! Go Ozzie! Go Downey!

I would love to see Mac in the Winged Wheel again, and soon. That said, I'm not sure if he's quite up to NHL yet. I haven't seen him play; I'm just going by what others have said. However, if anyone gets injured, I'll sleep better knowing that it is our McCarty who will come roaring in to save the day. I'd rather have him called up than anyone (not meaning that as any sort of a bash against the GR guys). Grind Line 2008. My dream come true.

Budaj vs Osgood! A left and another left. He's got him down by the boards. A year ago it was Vernon and Roy... Ok, maybe not. Edit to add: This will be the first game I have to miss since the losing streak began. That alone will turn it around.

After seeing J-Ho* play today, I am in a Happy Place with the future of the Wings' goaltending. I will be pleased whether it is Dom/Oz or Oz/J-Ho next year. One reason I would prefer to see Oz/J-Ho is that I believe that if Dom retires after this year it will be because he is holding the Cup. *jumping on the nickname bandwagon

How would we know if Paul Mitchell is a new goalie or a brand of hair care products? What if Miller advertised Budweiser? Could Hasek advertise his own products? Would he have to pay himself? Would the goalies decide for whom they want to advertise or would they just be stuck with the highest bidder? What if they're already sick of being branded as a douchebag? Would they be forced to add the Summer's Eve logo? Would the announcers have to work it into their commentary? Oh I'm so glad it's you. I was starting to think it was me. I haven't missed a game, which I usually have to do during the week, but I've been sick. I will be missing the Avs tomorrow, which I think will be a good thing. Maybe between the two of us, we'll get this thing turned around.
