Thanks, toby, I didn't know that. I guess that would be a "no" then. Besides, who'd hold the clipboard?

Just a thought: Couldn't a network in the US get some sort of contract with Hockey Night in Canada and just broadcast that? It would be good for CBC because the deal would bring them in extra money at no additional expense, and it would be good for the US company because they wouldn't have to pay to produce a whole show. Win-win. That's how I see it. Of course I have a sadistic desire to see what Don Cherry would do to the blood pressure of a certain sector of the population who likes to tell us how to talk and think. Is there a "sadistic glee" emoticon?

Excellent point. Thank you. That should clear things up. Although it would have been cool, wouldn't it?

I hear you! I have to drive 2 hours to see anything that's not on NBC. Even one game a week on an actual network (preferrable PBS, NBC or FOX since I don't get the others without rabbit ear gymnastics) would be a way to get the casual channel surfer. I agree totally that new people won't be attracted to our sport unless they happen upon it. That's not likely to happen with no NHL until January. Of course, it comes down to sponsorship and ratings, which tend to go hand in hand. We'd need to have some sponsors be willing to take the chance. Anyone know an owner of a pizza chain who has an interest in hockey?

I picked "maybe" because "he darn well deserves it, but who knows what sort of crack the selection committee will be smoking" wasn't one of the options. Please don't take that as a knock on Ozzie. He's in my personal HOF already (not that he or anyone else gives a vermin's hindquarters ). Edited for improper use of punctuation.

They have it listed on NHL.com if you go to the complete weekend schedule (or whatever it's called). I have no idea about future years. You'd think they'd get the rosters announced, though, wouldn't you?

Wings win. Kronner scores because it's his birthday. Happy b-day, Nik!

See, that's what got me wondering. The rulebook is usually clear that "players" means skaters and goalies, whereas "skaters" is used to differentiate between the goalies and the forwards and d-men. So when it said "players", and goalies were listed as "eligible players", I started wondering. Would they take off the pads? Glove? Blocker? Yeah, definately the blocker.

Then they should have been more clear. I was also sure that it was applied to Dats. Not that I'm saying my comprehension skills are great. I'll let others be the judge: Dats article Back to topic, Nick is beyond one in a million. I'm glad to see him getting the attention he deserves.

I'm so happy I could just cry.

Certainly not age. Although tying his skates together might cause him to pause a bit. Congrats to Cheli, and many more years in the Winged Wheel.

I have to hand it to you for starting this thread. I truely respect people who are willing to come to the defense of a player when he is being bashed and doesn't deserve it. Last summer, when I joined here, it was Kronwall, then Ozzie took some licks. Now Hasek, Sammy... who's next? Kronwall, Ozzie and Hasek are now playing wonderfully. I hope Sammy comes back up as well. It's tough to be a Wing in a slump. All of a sudden people are calling for your hide. Hopefully all the effort he puts into shooting the puck will soon result in goals. Flip had a dry spell at the beginning of the season. Good for you for defending him. I chicken out once the name-calling starts. (Sorry, Kronner, I should have kept talking- I'd be saying "I Told You So" right about now.)

Nah, it was that guy who's always chewing gum and walking behind the players. ...what's his name...oh, yeah, Babcock.

If D can prove he is better than someone else, he gets their spot. If not, he doesn't. That's the way it works all the time. The better unseats the lesser. Sure, he's getting the chance due to who he is, but he will have to do the work himself. If he can improve the team, I want him back. If not, he'll still have a place in my heart.

Later everyone. It's been fun being a part of the GDT. I don't usually get to be here. Great job, Wings! Congrats, Dom!

JOOOOOOOOOOOOOHAN!

Shaving. J/K. He's been around today.

Dad and I were amused.

Wow look at those votes for Ozzy! Roughly 70% of fans who sent in e-mails voted Oz as the MVP for the irst half of the season. Deserved, if you ask me. Not that the others aren't great as well.
-
So did anyone submit a vote for MVP for the 1st half? I would have gone with my boy Oz had I voted. What do y'all think?
-
Hate to say it, but the Stars are looking pretty good on the kill. Go Franzen!

Whee Dom! Nice one!
