I have to admit that I am a bit concerned about this. Will Maltby be travelling with the team when they play the Wild on the 22nd? If not, who will cream him? Perhaps Mrs. Draper will have to make a house call. I am also concerned about the next day, the 23rd. Will it count if he gets Sammy and Johan after midnight on the 22nd? How will he get one without the other being on guard? Perhaps he needs to enlist Zetterberg? Or Lidstrom? Homer seems the type who might go for it, but he and Kronner are up for January, so it might be wise not to make enemies. Pavel, with a summer birthday shouldn't have to worry. Perhaps the element of surprise is indicated. Who'd suspect him? Ah, well, I'll leave it in Draper's capable hands.

I live on the ND-MN border. When I got my car, I tried at least 30 vanity plates along the Red Wings theme before I found one that wasn't taken in ND. On the other hand, my friend's husband had no trouble getting TWOLVES in MN. FSN North carried the UND game rather than the Wild-Wings game the other night. Is MN big on hockey? Sure, but the Vikes are bigger. I've seen Wings gear all over Fargo-Moorhead, but only 2 Wild shirts. Whoever said that we should be Hockeynation was right. Consider my dad who followed the Wings faithfully during the Dead Era without the aid of cable TV, internet or Detroit newspapers. That's a fan. That's the kind of fans we are. Red to the end. So some reporter wants to sell his work and get some national attention. He got it. I really can't see St. Paul taking this and running with it. It'll die down soon enough, and Hockeytown will still be Detroit.

Gee, by process of elimination: Not Lids, Raf, Lil, Lebda, Meech, or Cheli. Who's not mentioned? <----- Yikes. Hope he's OK- whoever "he" is.

Imagine the "D" line out there- Drake, Downey, DMac. If someone messed with Z, Dats, or (at the rate he's going) Huds, all we'd have to do is send out that line the next time the offender hit the ice, and the offender would run screaming back to his bench. Kind of like being on the PP. Plus Mac could score, so it wouldn't be like they were just taking up space out there.

OK, I have to admit that took me a second (mind still on profanity), but once I got it, I cracked up. Can you even imagine one of the Swedes was wired and everyone just spoke Swedish to him. Even Dats? That would be killer. I have to admit I did enjoy Turco during the AllStar game last year. We could mic our goalies, but who would they talk to? The puck's usually at the other end. I suppose we could find out if they amuse themselves by singing show tunes or something like that. Drapes would probably be the best bet of the current Wings (or Cheli), but still, with all the editing, all we'd hear is the same old stuff as the article said "Go to the net, eh." We get all that stuff in the between period interviews. Canned, trite and scripted.

They pulled that crap on my dad Friday night. FSN Detroit was blacked out since the Wild are on FSN North, and then North carried the Fighting Sioux game. Tonight I say that the Wings will win (when have I ever predicted a loss?) 3-1. Wings: Hank, Lids, and a surprise goal from Lebda. The Other Guys: That nice boy from Moorhead. Ozzie will get hugged by at least one Swede

Given that our marketing team came up with Hockeytown, wasn't it copyrighted or trademarked or something along those lines? Or has that run out now?

I don't know, but my fingers are getting sore from scrolling down to his name. I don't care about him winning, going or anything else. I just want him to get enough votes that he gets the recoginition he deserves.

I wasn't clear in my original post. I was talking about the 2006 games only. US and Canada were out by the time Sweden and Finland played for the silver/gold. Other years, yes, they have still been in it. I guess my point is that I love watching the games, but I like having a team to root for. One can pick out of a hat or by whether one likes lingenberries, or which has the prettiest colours, but knowing the players gives you that extra emotional tie-in. Like I said, it's not a breaking point for me; just saying I like it as is.

I love Mac. I'm on record here as saying that I would only take him back if he could prove that he could still do it. That was my brain talking. My heart wants him back. The two-way contract sound like the best idea yet. If he can't play, hire him to be the "enforcer coach". Let him teach guys how to fight. Might not be something you'd want on the official payroll, but given how fights=fan satisfaction, put him down as some sort of PR guy. Heck, let him be one. Send him out to promote the team. If we got Mac back in any way and he proved himself useful in that role, I'd be a very happy girl, and might consider therapy to find out why my internal organs are verbal on this issue or if I'm just hearing voices.

The arguement regarding injuries is valid, and I can't disagree with it at all. On the other hand, who do you root for when your team(s) are out? As a proud citizen of the USA who has lived in Canada, I root for those teams in that order. Having NHL guys in makes me actually care whether Sweden defeats Finland or if it's the other way around. Think back...wasn't it great as a Wings fan to say "Yeah! That's our Zetterberg! That's our Lidstrom! That's our Sammy! That's our Kronwall!" How often do we get to say "That's our Sammy! That's our Kronwall!"? It won't end my world if they don't get to play for their countries, but it may be a big deal to them. Plus not all the guys on a team are NHL players. Scouts see a lot, but can only see so much. A word here or there from someone like Lidstrom or Zata about a former Olympic teammate can be a nice source of info above and beyond what the scouts contribute. This can also be the case if we are thinking of trading for someone they've played with. I'd prefer to let them play. That's just my opinion, and I respect the many valid points on the other side of the issue.

The Wings will win tonight because I have to work and will not be able to listen to it. My father has informed me that I am the Kiss Of Death and should not be allowed to watch them play any more due to the fact that their losses come when I am at his house taking advantage of his Center Ice/NHLN. Since I will not be able to hear it, I predict that all my favourites will score. So, one from Hank, Kronner, Flip, Malts and Ozzie (don't ask how; just believe). One from Iginla since he hates plucking his eyebows as much as I do. Anyone who is partying tonight whilst watching the game: Have one for me. I'll be with y'all in spirit.

I have that jacket. It's warm, but no hood, so I wear a black hooded sweatshirt under it, which also helps since the collar is itchy. It is hot looking. I agree they should have put a wheel on the back like my dad's has. Enjoy it.

I've been writing him in (repeatedly). So maybe he won't get the most votes, and maybe he won't play at all, but doggone it, with a bunch of write in votes, he's going to get people noticing him. I think we all agree the guy deserves that much.
