When I put Kronner as my desktop, he scored. Same with Flip. Now I have Lids. So I think it will be Wings 3 (Lids, Homer, Hank) and the Canucks 2 (1 for each Sedin). I think the Wings will have a lot of shots, but that Luongo will hold up. I have complete faith in Ozzy, but can't wait to have Dom back to see him get the donut record. Rest up well, Dom. 2 goals will be called back due to HIP (Homer interference penalty) problems. Go Wings!

I haven't counted Dom out for this season. I do think he has one left in him, maybe more. However, it is true that he will be retiring for good in the near future. I like an Ozzie/Howard tandem. Ozzie can still do the job and do it well, and he'll be there to groom Howard for the eventual starting role. It's great to have such talent.

If a player is looking to take a player out of the play, it's good by me. If he is looking to take a player out of the game, it's not. If he's looking to end a season or a career, it's unacceptable. Oftentimes it's hard to tell by what happens on the ice, but the reaction of the player after the game is usually a very good clue. Any player who attempts to excuse himself by claiming he is not responsible for his own elbows due to his height (for example) loses all respect I may have had for him. A player who is man enough to publicly declare that he meant no malice and made an error of judgement is more easily forgiven in my book.

Maybe I'm remembering the wrong game, but didn't it seem like the last time we played the Sharks there were a lot of penalties right at the beginning, and then it tapered off? (I'm getting old, so pardon me if this is an intellectual interlude.) Anyway, with the recent article on Homer, I have to wonder if the officials now know that we're going to be watching their calls even closer than usual. I wonder if this means that tonight's game will be one with more penalties or fewer. Opinions? Prediction: Wings 5 (Hank, Ellis, Huds, Kronner and an empty netter by Flip that no one could miss just to get the jinx off the kid, after which he will start playing like he did last year.) This is why I love the Wings' goalie situation. Dom can get a bit of rest when he ails (which, being his age, I can tell you happens), Ozzie can hop right in there and go, and we have Jimmy to call up and get a bit of experience so he and Ozzie can be the next great duo for the Wings when Dom takes his well-earned retirement. Oh, dear, I seem to have opened up a can of worms here. I merely asked the mods if it would be OK if we had a seperate thread for predictions since some people love them (like me) and some people hate them. I figured that since they were trying to cut down the posts in the main that this would be a good way of getting some of them out where the people who really like them could read them. Really, before the game I just read for the predictions, I love them so much. As far as I know, the mods have not in any way said that we can't post predictions in the Aflac GDT. Sorry if I started something. I really didn't mean to. Anyway, for my prediction: Battle of the goaltenders. Final score: Wings 1 (Zata asst. by Homer) Canucks 0. 22 PIM and 2 recalled goals for Homer as well. Sedin twins fined for spraypainting an extra foot or two around the crease. Attempted defense that Homer said it wouldn't matter fails. Chelios blasts the extra paint away with his x-ray vision. What's to stop him?

Let's see- quick math here... He has 4 boys (and boys eat a lot), so that's 4 times $5 Little Caeser's pizzas equals $20 times the amount that they boys will eat until each turns 18, if this is his last contract (assuming he invests).... yeah, that'll take about $3 mil. So add an extra mil to keep the wife looking pretty (and she is a beautiful woman without haircare, makeup and clothes, but I'm sure he wants to at least keep her in clothes), plus upkeep on the house, travel, charitible donations... Yup, we could get him for 8-9 mil. If he wants 10, I won't cry. He's worth it. I do think he'll probably be looking at what effect his salary has on the future of the team. Not saying he'll take a huge cut, but if a mil/year was the difference between having money to sign Z when the time comes, I wouldn't be surprised if he took that little bit less.

I don't know if we're talking about the same thing or not, but if you're talking about what some of they guys at work have, then it is not legal. I work with a bunch of guys who pick these up in their home countries (where there are no laws against them) and bring them to the US. Some people bring them in bulk and sell them here. What they do is hijack the satelite signals so you are getting them without paying for them. They see nothing wrong with it because they think it is in the air and the air is free. What they don't get is that the satelite companies are paying an arm and a leg to get a signal to sell to other people as their business. This is piracy and it is why the FDC scrambles signals all the time. So if we are talking about the same thing- yes, it works, but it's stealing, so be prepared to face your concience or the government or civil litigation.

Well, the very first post in the thread connected us to a vidoe of Emma flopping about half naked like a dying carp whilst singing a duet with another man (at least I think he's a man). The post went on to wonder if forcing Hank to view this repeatedly would help him should he enter a scoring slump. The rest of us are just saying "yay" or "nay". Personally, I think Hank's a mature man who has dealt with being a sex object for thousands of love-starved females. He has said that he is dating Emma the person, not the actress (or something like that). IOW, he loves her for who she is. He is fully aware that her job is to entertain people. She does that by singing, acting, talk-show-hosting and flaunting her body. He, in turn, makes his living shooting a cold rubbery thingie at a net, selling clothes online, and posing for wallpaper that makes even middle-aged hags like me drool (see his website). So that's how we got on this topic. Personally, I think that should he enter a slump, we should let him borrow Chris Chelios' lucky jockstrap. What's to stop Chris Chelios' jockstrap from scoring on its own?

Um, perhaps you didn't notice, but Emma is, shall we say "doubly blessed". I'm sure Hank has noticed. He says that she is a nice girl (Lidas backed that up in an interview over the summer). I'm sure she is a nice girl in person; but in that video, her personality isn't what's being sold. I'm just giving credit where it's due. If they have their own zip code, they get seperate mention. Hank is a hard worker, and a player who is surpassing superlatives. If and when he slows down, it will certainly be for reasons other than jealousy over another man. He seems to have his head on pretty straight.

I'm afraid I must disagree. Watching a half-naked Emma prancing around with a man whose eyebrows are too perfect for a real man will not encourage him to score more. Rather, it will make him lose his concentration about the game in his eagerness to get home and show her what a real man can do. It would backfire. I think Hank has been dating Emma and her breasts long enough that she really can't be used as incentive or bribery. He is probably used to guys oogling her. He is well aware that part of her job as an entertainer is to bare as much as she can and give other guys a cheap thrill. He has to be pretty darn secure with his own masculinity to even date a woman whose job is to be checked out like suermarket produce. Given the way women drool over him, I'd say it's a factor in the relationship on both sides. His point streak will go as it goes, and all we can do is cheer him on and enjoy it as long as it lasts.

Since so many seem to not like predictions, and so many do like them, what would the mods think if we started a seperate "predictions for tonight's game" thread. Then those of us who like them could have our fun and those who don't wouldn't have to see them. Mods? Back to topic: I was surprised to see Kopecky in the top second line. I was even more surprised to see Hudler fall to the bottom. At least they have Sammy to shoot the puck I hope they are thinking that Huds and Ellis will work well together, which is a possibility, rather than this being a sign that Huds is not working out. (Don't look if you don't like predictions: Wings 4, Yotes 2.)

You speak the truth and speak it well. I had not given a thought to Rafalski not being used to being a second banana. I had been focused on putting Nik and Nick together, but you make an excellent point for the Raf-Lilja pairing. The D has had a slow start this year. Maybe this is what it needs.

I fully agree with putting him with "Big Nicky". He did well with him last season, and could really learn a lot from him about making smart plays. He has the physical elements; he just needs to get his head in the right place to where he can put pressure on the other team instead of himself. He's trying too hard for the big plays. He needs more of Lids' style and mental awareness of the game. Not that I'm saying he should be like Nick, just saying he should incorporate Nick's mental game into his physical game. Desite the fact that his progression has been slower than most of us had hoped, I still believe he can do it. Call me Pollyanna.

For crying out loud, let's just let the boys skate. If we're adding techological factors to the game, let's add ones that make the game safer (not being a sissy, just sayin') not ones that could cause injury. On the other hand, what's to stop Chris Chelios from inventing new technology?
