Rexflipecky line. I like it. I also like seeing Drapes, Clears, Malts together. If these guys keep playing like they did last night, there's no reason in the world that 96-13-40 can't stay together.

The magic letterboard does not apply to middle names; however, given that this is Chris Chelios, that makes it a very different matter indeed. Oh, dear, I'm going to have to refer you to sirdrake for that one. I would have to ask what's stopping Chris Chelios from fitting in wherever he wants to. (Answer: nothing.) Unfortunately, I do not know if that also applies to Christos K Tselios. Sirdrake? We need a ruling on this one.

Today's game will be decided by the magic letterboard. The Wings have "K". All players with K in their surname will score a goal, all with K in their first name will have an assist: Nick L. will assist Kronwall. Henirk will assist Datsyuk. Nik K. will assist Drake. Kris will assist Rafalski. Kirk will assist Kopecky (twice, of course). Dominik Hasek will assist himself. Sammy will return on "S" day. The Ducks have the letter "Q". Congrats to Andy McD of the Ducks on the new baby.

  Norrisnick, I love you (platonically, of course, as we've not been properly introduced). I just about die every time I read that people want my Hank (or whoever) to resign when they mean re-sign. Back to topic, I say keep the guys together unless we're up by at least 4 goals, seperate them and let them work with others unless the other team pulls within 3. Then come the playoffs, we'll be able to pull their best against HDZ, but during the game, we can send in someone in place of Z, and have Z centering another line with lesser players against them, giving us 2 scoring line. Did that make any sense? I am on prescription drugs here. Sorry if that was incoherrent. I love Pav & Z together. They're like magic.

Oh, I get it now. The brutal ones are hard to catch. I needed a bru-net for that one. As an unapolegetic dyer of my hair since the birth of Brett Lebda (not that they're connected, just giving an historical referrence), I would like to add that when one dyes one's hair a darker colour, it appears that there is more of it if the previous colour was a light shade such as Larry's, or in my case, grey. It is possible that Larry's hair just looks like there's more of it. Or he could be moosing. He's Canadian. They know about moosehead up there.

[quote name='Spinner' date='October 14, 2007 - 09:17AM' post='1167603 In regards to the thread, I'd like to see Drapes for a few more years. I'd also like to see another commercial where he throws that one lady in the air. Her name escapes me at the moment... Nell Carter. Oh, no, that wasn't her. Never mind. Would have been cool, though. Anyway, I was sitting a chair last night, (pneumonia and bronchitis- I'm tired of sitting in chairs!) and I was reading The Hockey News 2004-5 Yearbook. (Yeah, not even Chris Chelios could be that bored). They said that even if Kris was goalless, he was still vital due to his style of play and leadership and mentoring ability. (Not a direct quote, just throwing together everything in the article). He's not goalless this season, and he still has all the rest of that, so I say: Memo to Kenny: Get this guy signed. We got him off the dollar menu. He's paid for himself many times over. ETA: sorry about the bad quote thing. No idea why it didn't work right. Guessing ID 10 T error.

Wings win 4-1 Wings: Cheli (because there's nothing stopping him from scoring in Cali), Flip (because Babs told him to shoot), Hudler (because I get a perverse satisfaction from watching people get whiplash changing their opinions of him) and last but not least, my surprise element of the game: Tommy Ko. Not Ho, Ko. Yeah, Kopecky. It's gonna happen. Kings: Um, who cares. Someone will get lucky and put a shot in whilst Ozzy is distracted by watching Cheli.

I heartily concur. Osgood is 90% of the reason that I am confortable having Hasek in goal. Hasek is great, but I'd never take the risk if it weren't for the most excellent backup. Instead of insisting on people taking sides, we should all be grateful that we have so darn much talent between the pipes and holding the clipboard that our guys don't have to play if they aren't in their best form. Here's to our heros, and the heros behind them who let them shine. Oh, great, now I have "the Wind Beneath My Wings" in my head.

OK, I'll be the oddball here. Yes, I miss Lang. I didn't want him to go. My dad really didn't. He's been a Wings fan since the 40's and he is almost happy for Robert. I hope he does well there, but I hope we beat them the next times we play them. He can have a goal or two, just so long as it isn't a tying or winning one. If he read these boards, I don't blame him for coming out strong. For what it's worth, my hamster, Niklas Matthieu Daniel Robert, was gleeful when I told him about Robert scoring. I think he's behind it.
-
He can't be. You can't type and mountain bike without water whilst running businesses and doing charitible work and lying on your back hovering over a puck, whilst somehow shooting said puck into the stands repeatedly. He sounds more like a goalie. You know, the kind that have very little to do but hold a clipboard and have random thoughts, which they can conveniently write down given that they're holding a clipboard, until that fateful day when they are called in to replace their starter, at which point they give a stellar performance, but, due to their team's ability to control the puck, they still have time to come up with thoughts, just no where to write them down. It kind of sounds like someone I've heard of, but I can't quite place him. It's been a tough day. A band of pirates pillaged my brain, and it had nothing to do with Chris Chelios.
-
OK, let's admit it, haven't we all posted something we think is funny or brilliant and hoped that Kenny, Mike, or one of the players has a friend who was reading at that moment? Come on, you know you have. Um, right?
-
I assumed this was going to be a sirdrake thread, and my reply was going to be "silly buddy, there ARE no players like Chris Chelios." But since it's not---I would guess no, they probably don't. Can you even imagine what it would be like for just about anyone other that Lids or Hank? Would you really want to come online and hear that you: A) are lazy and you suck B) aren't worth your money/shouldn't be re-signed/should be traded C) aren't as good as a guy in GR/your backup/a draft pick/a boiled octopus D) are lazier and suck more than Robert Lang I know taking criticism goes with the territory, but there's a huge difference between getting it as a part of your life and going online looking for it. Of course, it is entirely possible that their wives, gfs, mothers, friends, children, etc. may be reading. In which case, please tell Kronwall to stay healthy for me, will you?
-
Faceoffs, leadership, historical value, experience. Plus he's the first onto the ice. I say he's still get it. Maybe not the it of 10-15 years ago, but which of us do? He's still got it enough to be a contributing player and truly earning $1mil/year for 3 years at least. The guy's worth it. Time to put the plume to the old parchmetorooni.
-
Actually, he'll yell "DUCK!" and when everyone else hits the ice, he'll shoot the puck in and then casually say, "Nope, I was wrong; it's just Neidermeyer." Oh, yea, I predicted Zata and Lilja scores last game and was surprisingly close, so this time, my off-the-wall prediction goes: Wings: Dats, Zata, Ellis, Sammy, Kronner, and Homer. Chi: Lang, Kane, and a guy dressed as Lapointe, but who turnes out to be Selanne in disguise. Goal disallowed. Wings win 6-2.

The following was in the Fargo Forum (which serves Jason's hometown of Moorhead, Minn) yesterday. Since the Forum's website is a bastard (in contrast to the actual paper, which I mch prefer), I am just reprinting the article here. If the Forum has a problem with it, I'm sure they'll let me know. Looks very positive. Prayers out to Jason and his family. Toronto Maple Leafs forward Jason Blake’s rare form of leukemia is highly treatable thanks to its early discovery and should not interfere with him playing hockey, a Fargo oncologist said. The 34-year-old Moorhead native, who played hockey at the University of North Dakota, is slated to face off against his former New York Islanders teammates Thursday when they visit Toronto. Blake announced Monday he has chronic myelogenous leukemia, or CML – a slow-growing cancer of the white blood cells. He received the news on Friday following a routine preseason blood test. “The prognosis… is that I will live a long, full and normal life,†Blake said earlier this week. “I’m looking forward to my first season with the Leafs and helping our club compete for the Stanley Cup.†Treatment for CML is “remarkably simple,†said Dr. Preston Steen, an oncologist with Fargo MeritCare’s Roger Maris Cancer Center. Former Moorhead standout Jason Blake, who signed with Toronto this spring, is being treated for a rare form of leukemia. Associated Press RELATED CONTENT Benny Polacca Archive Two oral medications used to treat CML – if discovered during its chronic phase – include Sprycel and Gleevec, which Blake is taking. As long as the medicine works, it’s likely Blake and other CML patients will lead normal lives, Steen said. Drugs such as Gleevec block the protein created by a cancer gene and bring blood cell levels back to normal, according to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Web site. Gleevec’s side effects can include nausea, muscle cramps and puffiness around the eyes. Steen said a treatment timetable for CML varies. It could take up to a year before a patient goes into remission, he said. CML can strike anyone, old or young, Steen said. It’s “not terribly uncommon†to strike people in their 30s like Blake, he said. CML typically isn’t noticed until it is discovered during a blood test, Steen said. Other symptoms of CML can include weight loss, tiredness, night sweats and an enlarged spleen. About 40,000 people will be diagnosed with leukemia in 2007, according to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Of those, 4,570 are expected to be diagnosed with CML. Blake had a breakout year with 40 goals last season with the Islanders. It earned him a five-year contract worth $20 million with the Maple Leafs. Like Blake’s doctors, Steen believes Blake will be able to play while being treated for CML. “Anyone who’s followed Blake’s career knows he’s a tough guy.†The Associated Press contributed to this report Readers can reach Forum reporter Benny Polacca at (701) 241-5504

Bill Wirtz memorial/moment of silence booed by Blackhawk fans
55fan replied to Wings_Fan_In_Exile's topic in General
Having the right to do something does not make that something the right thing to do. Free speech is a useful tool for weeding out the idiots in society. I was a pre-natal Lions fan, but I wouldn't think of booing Millen. I wouldn't boo Bettman, or even Pronger if circumstances were such that he had a few words spoken about him at a place where I was at the time. If nothing else, the deceased had family and, presumably, friends who will miss them for reasons outside the sport. If for no more than respect for their feelings and their loss, the very least fans could have done was sat and doodled on their programs or played rock, paper, scissors or something so that those who were in mourning would not be further hurt. Common decency: the infallible benchmark for making the right decision. -
Wow, that has been updated. A lot of the same info, just added some current stuff. Zetterbergfan.com is still better.

Wings win. Hank shows us what an old guy can do. (Happy belated B-day, Hank.) Lilja scores just so our shock factor is still there. Final : Wings, 2; Flames, 0. Hey, as long as I'm here, thanks for these GDT's. I had to work Monday and when I got home, the score hadn't been posted on the tread, so I could read along without knowing what would happen next. Not quite the same thing as the real thing, but a ton better than just reading a score and finding out the details later. You guys are great!

But what Dom could do is mount a springboard over the net, climb up and jump on an opposing player's stick, which would then result in Dom's injury and a 4 minute penalty. Unless the ice had melted into a pool, in which case Dom would be called for diving.
-
There may be no I in team, but there's a ME. Seriously, I'd like to see Flip come up. He's shown us last year that he can play with the big boys. Add me to the "GET WELL, MULE" group.
-
I gave him a shocked look, and he said, "come on, Auntie Kay, at least it's not the Vikings." Given that we're in very strong Vikes territory, I can live with the Cows. The Lions are still his second team. I'm more concerned that he's not into hockey. Detwoit Wed Wings would have been beyond cute.

hmm. Or it could be a rental. Or he's test driving it. Or he's working undercover... was he wearing shades and a black suit?

When my Godson was young, I was a strong influence in his life. He couldn't say L or R, (which is cruel for a kid who wanted to be a wace caw dwivew). Back then, if you asked him his favourite football team, he'd proudly say "Detwoit Wions". Now he says "Dallas Cowboys". I need to spend more quality time with that kid.
