If the Wings play like they did yesterday, Monster will have a good game. If they possess the puck, he won't have as much work to do. If they block shots, fewer will get to him. In other words, if they treat him like they want to keep him healthy, he should be ok. Should be. This is Monster. Maybe they'd better treat him like he's made of glass. Hopefully he'll have another good injury-free showing.

Wow. I've never been into cards or collecting, but that's amazing. You're lucky they didn't get thrown out. My grandma threw out all of my dad's "toys" when he went to college. All of his baseball cards from the 1950's, including the entire '55 Yankees. I have no idea if modern hockey cards are valuable, but the sentimental value alone makes those priceless.

But... but... but... Chelios never did anything against the WINGS. At least not, you know, like... at the END of his career. I've always detested Pronger, but that was as a hockey player playing against my team. I still hold some of his antics against us against him, but again, that's on the ice. Off the ice, I hope he feels better and can live without pain. I fully agree that this was stupid of Holmgren to mention this, but technically it doesn't change anything. Pronger is still on LTIR since he's physically unable to play. If he was feeling better and his symptoms were gone, then there might be an issue if they kept him on LTIR because they felt that he had missed too much time and that he wouldn't be good enough to compete or if he just wanted to retire but didn't announce it so that he could keep getting paid without counting against the cap. Since that's not the case, LTIR is still a valid option that no one can really argue. He's definitely injured and it's definitely long term.

I like Mrazek. I do not like the idea of an injured Jimmy. I feel better about Monster after yesterday. He had a good game and the team really played well in front of him. If they can play like that today, they will win. If they leave him hanging like they do with Jimmy sometimes, they will probably not win. Go Wings. Your fate is in your hands. I'm really enjoying the addition of Glendening. He makes that 4th line come alive, and considering that Miller and Tootoo are two of my faves, that makes me really happy. I will not see this game since I will be at work, (as usual during the week) so all of you nice folks who were quite put upon because you had to work yesterday with nary a radio nor computer at your disposal can feel better since life is back to normal.

Yeah, those of us who usually have to miss Monday games or have to get up in the middle of the night get ONE game in a decade, and the world implodes on those who are inconvenienced. Welcome to our world. I'm enjoying the single day of the planets aligning for me. Tomorrow the rest will be back to coming home from work for a game that I will be missing because I'll be working and things will be back to normal in the universe. You'd think it was the Mayan Lizard People all over again.

I guess I'm either Canadian or a member of Congress... or maybe a night shift employee who is up in the middle of sleepy-time to catch a game that starts 6 hours before the 12-hour work shift. Works for me. Any way I get to see the Wings is a good way. I think this makes up for all the times that I leave for work an hour or two before the game starts.

Maybe he meant no current players for the Bruins. I'm curious who the other Red Wing is.

What's more traditional than Detroit playing on Thanksgiving? We've been doing it since the 1930's. Granted it's the Lions and it's the US Thanksgiving, but you'd think people were unaware of the concept. Now we know how the Canadians feel when the Lions play on their workday.

Oh! I just remembered! Tomorrow in Texas, it's "Take a North Dakotan to Work Day". I'll meet you in the conference room.

It's for me. Gary and I were having lunch last summer and I mentioned that I work evenings and have to miss games. He said that he'd like to put one in the afternoon for me, but that people wouldn't be home to see it. I told him to have one on the 14th because it's Thanksgiving in Canada. Once we established that Canada is a country north (mostly) of the US, and that they watch hockey there and spend money on the sport, he agreed that revenue was good, so the date was set. I told him to be sure to have two Canadian teams, but he doesn't remember that the league has any since the only time that he pays attention is when being booed when giving the silvery thing that's taller than he is to a smelly man in shorts and long socks (at least that's the part that he sees). I assured him that if he had to use two American teams for the game, that it would be ok since it's Columbus Day in the US. Despite his obvious marketing talent, I managed to convince him that Columbus playing on Columbus Day would not mean that the league would get over 90% of the television market because Columbus (the team) sucks. He was amazed to learn that Columbus Day was not named after the BJ's (a subject near and dear to his heart - or the organ that stands in for one in his case). Upon learning that all school children in the US learn (erroneously) that Columbus discovered America, he thought that this man Columbus deserved a daytime game to commemorate his great feat. It was a beautiful moment. Bettman actually showed some emotion when he pondered what would have happened had Columbus not been the first person in America (see erroneous data above). His heart broke at the thought of all of those buildings in New York that would be sitting empty since there were no people here before Columbus (see erroneous data above). The loss of revenue floored him, and he declared that a daytime game was indeed proper and fitting. So now you know.

Calvin questionable. I hope he's in. I was just at the Lions' website looking for more info on this when out of the corner of my eye I saw the headline "Dylan Gandy to tight end?" For some reason, probably having to do with the fact that I'm tired, my eyes read it as "Dandy Goodend". I thought that was a fabulous name for a football player. Go Lions!

I feel bad for goalies when that sort of thing happens. It's funny as can be, but I still feel bad for the guy.
