Helmets (especially with visors) need to come off during fights. This is why the league should be run (and the rules set) by people who have actually played the game and not by lawyers. Yes, it is possible to hurt one's head during a fight (see: Lilja, Andreas) but not as likely as getting hurt by hitting a guy with a helmet. Kudos to these two for doing this and showing the league how dumb and out-of-touch with player needs rules like this are.

Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, Darren Helm, Jordin Tootoo, Jimmy Howard, Jonny Ericsson... Good enough? If not, we have more where that came from. And Mrazek waiting in the wings. As for the game itself... This is why I don't put a lot of stock in preseason. We killed Boston, but they had their 133rd string goalie in for the whole game. We got shut out by Chicago, but they had their best players (other than Toews) in and their Champion Goalie in net. Probably the best matchup so far has been Pitts, and we did end up winning that one nicely. Good season coming. Can't wait.

I hope that this isn't the "big announcement" at 10:00. I hope that if Chris is the new big cheese (officially) that he's cut from the same block as his parents.

Silly Jakub. Defensemen aren't on the LTIR rotation. Seriously, I hope that it is just precautionary. He's been improving, and I'd like to see it continue.

Something that we'll like... that the Wings think we'll like, anyway. Something that they can say that we'll like, so it can't be something we've been complaining about... Can't be league-wide or everyone would be announcing it. Maybe they'll have Lidstrom's jersey retirement ceremony somewhere that millions of people can attend so that everyone will be able to see it. For free! Obviously the actual raising would be done before the game, but maybe all of the rest of it will be public. I have a feeling that we're either going to be let down after getting ourselves over-hyped or that it will be something that we don't like at all. Or maybe they're announcing that the Wings have all agreed to tuck in their jerseys!
