Curse my short term memory! You are right! This brings me to a whole new level of happy.

Hey, if it's for charity, the "lame" factor goes out the window. Good for them. Still not going to buy it, but it ranks higher on my list of "things that sound stupid but aren't".

With Flip gone, the pretty factor took a nose-dive. Oh, well. As long as pretty isn't replaced by something else that rhymes with gritty. The problem with looking at the past is that nostalgia tends to be rose-coloured. We look back at the greats from that time and remember how great they were in their best moments. And, man, those were some seriously great moments. Ten years from now, we'll look back and think about Pav and Z and we won't remember the first round exits. We'll remember the '08 cup. Hopefully we'll have a few more cups to remember from those two. The 2003 team was a bunch of superstars who figured out how to work together and do it well. They were great, but the best thing about the 2003 team was what they did in 2002. I'd still take them back in a heartbeat if they could be restored to their 2003 form.

We didn't have a prom. I went to a Lutheran high school, which we had just bought from the Catholics who had used it as a reform school, and so in order to establish ourselves in the community we didn't have dances or anything that the old boys' school used to do that got local gals in trouble. Not that I could have gone anyway. My fiance at the time was in a minimum security detention facility. They wouldn't have let him out for a prom, and he didn't allow me to talk to other boys... or girls... or family... There's a reason I didn't marry him. The person below me uses coupons regularly.

Zonkey? Liger? And I thought Labradoodles was weird. I think a liger would be cool, but you can't beat a name like zonkey. The name says it all. 2nd best goalie in the modern era: Roy or Brodeur?

I approve that it's vs the Avs. I only wish that there were some players left from the days that they were significant to the Wings. They should sell the ice afterwards.
-
Cool, but not frozen. After all the talk of saliva and stuff, I don't think that it as quite as cool as I did when I read the OP, but it's all good. We buy game-used everything else, why not ice?

I know I'd never spend the cash for them, but I can totally understand them as a replacement if the originals were removed because of something like cancer. We shouldn't judge. Women with big boobs need all the support they can get. The person below me has sat quietly someplace all alone and watched the sun rise.

In all fairness, how many of the Hawks fans realize that "melted ice" is water? Ok. I'll admit it. If you were able to certify that you had a hermetically sealed jar of water that had been ice from the Joe from 3/26/97, I'd buy it as a souvenir. It's corny and off the beaten path, but it's different, and I'll give them points for that.

I was once, but now I'm an omnivore. The person below me has sat quietly someplace all alone and watched the sun rise.

In a heartbeat, if I had the cap and roster space.

I've got no problem with asking for a source. It's the repeatedly asking after a person says that they just heard it. If there's a source, great. If not, it's hearsay. "Source" has almost become a meme. But yes, back to Brunner... Are there any rules- written or otherwise- that preclude a gentlemen's agreement that if he doesn't sign with anyone and goes back to Switzerland that he'd be allowed to sign later on in the season if a trade or LTIR gave us the space and need? Not saying that he'd do it, but the summer is winding down and there doesn't seem to be a lot happening on the Brunner front. Just from talking to totally unsourced, unreliable people with no connections to the hockey world (like most of us here), I've been hearing a lot of "probably going back to Switzerland if he can't land a good spot here". No idea if it's true, and "here" has referred to both the Wings and the NHL. I'm just wondering if there was a possibility of him coming later in the season if a spot opened up.

He said he heard it from the start. He has responded to requests for a source by telling people that he has no physical source and that it is just something that he heard. What is it with people? Is reading comprehension so low nowadays that people can't understand the word "heard" means that it was something that was not sourced? If you say you read it, you can provide a link or at least a reference if it was hard copy. If it was seen, you can provide a reference. If it was on the radio, you can provide the station and/or speaker. If you just heard it, that's all it is. Someone said it. You repeated it. It may or may not be true. If someone passes off something they heard as fact, that's one thing, but if they state outright that it was just something that they heard, then that's another. We've wasted more time on this site asking for sources for things that aren't sourced than it's worth. If there's a source, provide it. If not, say that there's no source (i.e. "I heard it.") and everyone just take it for what it's worth. Not everything in the world is "sourced".

Wow. It was the first time for all of us?

In the road? No. On the road, by the side of the road, at the end of the road, and both on and under an overpass, yes. But not in the road. The person below me drinks energy drinks.

Oh, mac n cheese any day and twice on Tuesdays! Physical pain or mental anguish?

Standing on the logo. There are reasons for wearing sunglasses inside. Not saying any of them apply to Bieber, but wearing sunglasses isn't the universal crime that standing on the logo is.
-
Do you have a source to prove that you heard it? Most people in real life understand that "I heard..." means that you heard it in passing and that it should be taken with a grain of salt (or perhaps a boulder thereof), but this is the internet; if you claim to exist, they want your birth certificate.

Unfortunately, since he only rides the coattails of recent winners, your statement is true.

Just for the record, I didn't say what you quoted me as saying. That was someone else. I just replied to that person.

If you invest a ton of money, you're going to be there. If you just need to show up, maybe you will decide not to go. With expensive sports, or with sports where you have to make a reservation, you know the people will be there that you expect to be there and you won't be left looking for another person to fill the spot. Plus if people spend the money or make the reservations, you know that they're as committed as you are. Not saying that people who play basketball or baseball aren't committed; just saying you don't get the drop-ins and drop-outs without some warning so you can plan ahead.

I totally see your point, but it's about the people of the countries representing their country. Pro athletes are people and citizens too. For the ones who have traveled half-way around the world, it gives them a chance to give something back to their home country. I'm old enough to remember the Miracle on Ice, and that was an awesome underdog story if there ever was one, but each country wants to send its best. In most cases, the best turn pro.
