gdt WCQF Game 4 GDT : Ducks 2 @ Red Wings 3 (OT) - (Series tied, 2-2)

Need more Tootoo. -
Would you settle for an Abdelkading?
-
I'd like to be a fly on the wall in the officials' locker room after the game as Devorski tells O'Halleran about that one game he officiated back in '97 where all hell broke loose.

I've been there, done that, and am about to do it again. I've been at my full-time job for almost 15 years, but my arthritis is getting too bad and I can't physically do the job any more. I've left a lot of jobs- either because I hated them, the place closed, I moved, I found something better, etc.- and what I've learned is that the people who are important follow through life outside of work. Some people are just great co-workers, but not anyone you stay in touch with. There's nothing wrong with that. You miss them at first, but then they become people that you run into at Walmart and chat for a half an hour, but that's it. Others you never see again, and that's ok too. The good ones become friends. My best friend started as my co-worker over 20 years ago. We've lived in different towns, miles apart, but she's still the one I can tell anything, and her son is my Godson and the light of my life. Stay in touch with people, and the relationships will follow their natural path. Some will blossom; some will die. It's like graduating- you have probably kept in touch with some people and not others. Nowadays you young folks have your tweeting and facebooking and texting and e-mailing that we didn't have back in the day, so staying in touch is easier. Use these, and let life take its course. New people will come in, and others will go, but the true friends will be there forever. Sometimes it surprises you who these people will be. Good luck.

We had Osgood when Hasek rode the pine. Had it been the other way around, we'd have had Hasek when Osgood sat. They had been identical during the regular season. There was no bad choice- it was a matter of riding the hot one. Now we have Jimmy, who has had many vital saves and.... who is it again? Oh, yeah, Monster, who has played so little that he's barely registering on our collective radar. Bench Jimmy? Nay! Rather, pray that he doesn't get injured!

Tonight? I thought he was doing it over the phone. Doesn't that usually mean that Shanny will just deliver the news to the person?
-
That's the thing I'm talking about! Let us know! I added $5 to my Money on the Board pledge if he escapes the Shanaban.
-
Does anyone have one of those tweety things that lets people text you about stuff like this? I'm waiting and checking here for the news.
-
Not so much as a single dollar last night. $5 if Abby escapes the Shanaban. EDIT after the fact: Well, that didn't do diddly. Just proves that Shanny hates children Hopefully we will regroup, rally, and get some cash for this as well as some wins.

GDT WCQF Game 3 GDT - Ducks 4 @ Red Wings 0 (ANA leads series 2-1)

Happy birthday to BJ. Now, Wings, get a big win to celebrate the occasion. Since BJ is known by his username of Wingzman91, I think it would be fitting if the Wings win 9-1. Does that work for everyone? -
Lotto. Less travel involved. Hardee's or Burger King?

I was hugely excited to have Sammy back, but for as long as he's been out I'm concerned. Of course, in SCF game 1, 2008 I was telling someone how bad he was, and he scored. Then as I was telling her that this was a fluke, he scored again. Hopefully this trend continues and he makes me look like a fool for being concerned. -
Usually, but don't get me cheesed. The person below me is sending out holiday greetings similar to this today:

Nope. I just surf the net. I couldn't climb up to a window if my life depended on it any more. Back in my younger days, however... The fact that I've never been to Detroit is also a deterrent to your fantasy. -

Do you know how many actual shirtless photos of Wings I have? I'll spare you. Wings need to establish dominance at the Joe. The next two games will give us the chance to go back to enemy territory with a comfortable lead. Unfortunately, the Wings have a tendency to get too comfortable when they are ahead. Let's win this one, and win it big. And then keep winning and winning big. -
I guess not. Not a good one, anyway. The person below me has lost a tooth other than baby teeth.

Brandon Prust Comments on Paul MacLean - "Fat Walrus"
55fan replied to Yzerfan1999's topic in General
Of course. That's half the fun of pests. Think of Maltby. He could get under skin by being an idiot on the ice. That was his job. There's also the letting out of emotion, building of rivalries, and just the drama that builds up enmity and all of that. Saying it publicly, and not having the yams to say it to his face is what makes Prust look like an idiot. He looks like the kid who runs behind his big brother before insulting the slightly bigger kid. I'd love to be a fly on the helmet for some of that on-ice conversation, but that's best left between the players. They know how to take it and give it back. When we hear it out of context off the ice, it doesn't have the same ring, and it's often offensive to non-hockey folks who don't get it, (and, in some cases, it's offensive to hockey folks who do get it, but that's another thread). That's why what is said on the ice should stay on the ice, and let the fur fly. -

It is a sign of a lack of intellect when insults are directed at a person's physical makeup. That's one of the reasons I abhor racist insults. Weight-related insults fall into the same category. OT, but I'll say it anyway: Double whammy against those who insult a person for a disability. Hope Ottawa kicks some butt and sends Prust to the golf course. -
Huge. Anything seen as a threat beyond scoring more goals than the other team shouldn't be. Taunting and things like that are poor sportsmanship, and I hope that the other team silences the celebration by going out and scoring an answering goal. Threats, even though they're usually in jest, just have too true of a ring nowadays. There's a difference between celebrating because you're happy that you did something good for your team and being an ass to your opponent.

injured Danny DeKeyser suffers broken thumb, out for playoffs
55fan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Only one at a time (and only 4 total since I've started naming them after Wings). Drew (Andrew Patrick Ian Todd) died Tuesday. So now I have none. Danny was looking promising as a middle name for the next one the way he's been playing. Hopefully he'll be around for many years to come, and work his way up to the Hamster Club. -
I was disputing that the artist was used rather than the title of the Police song that I had posted, which is entitles "Miss Gradenko". At any rate... Black and White- Three Dog Night
-
Addendum: After wishing like crazy that Mule would bury a third puck last night, I have decided to add the following: An additional $5 for a hat trick scored by a player after whom I've named a hamster.
-
Best one yet! Awesome!

Bad news for this year, but our future is indeed bright with this kid. -
I've given before. She once posted a thank-you that she got. She's gone to quite some trouble to find a good charity that would take our donation. Plus I think that there are people on here who know her personally and can vouch for her. Of course, then you have to find people who will vouch for them...
