  1. Glad to have Bert back, but sad there's no Tootoo. I don't know who I'd rather have out, though. I wish there was no limit to who could dress. Then everyone would be happy, although not getting a lot of ice time in some cases.

    Players who showboat after scoring

Really, I think the answer is in the title of the thread. Celebration=ok. Showboating=no good.

It's never too young for Wings gear.

    This or That

Ooh, that's a tough one. Most jobs aren't big enough to require a laser level, so a regular one will do, but on the other hand, you just can't get along without a plumb bob, but on the other hand (I have three), you can make a plumb bob out of string and pretty much anything else, so you might as well go whole hog with the laser level. In short: Laser level. Try to go back to sleep or just get up and forget about it?

    Players who showboat after scoring

Be happy, hug your teammates, smile big, and enjoy the moment. You don't have to act like you are the centre of the universe. Just act like your team is. Big goals get a pass- Mac in the SCF of '97, Eruzione in '80 Olympics- things like that where the circumstances are huge are reason to celebrate a bit more than the 3rd goal of the 2nd period on a Tuesday in February vs the Panthers. If it's a natural happiness, be happy. If you've planned it out, forget it.
  6. Shoot the puck... at the net where Howard isn't. Don't let the puck get within 10 feet of the net in which Howard is. Beat up Corey Perry because he is a pain in the butt and he looks funny. These are the keys to the game. Let's go Red Wings <insert rhythmic claps>

    This or That

I was always Butthead. My friend Nathan was Beevis. We drove around talking like them. We almost got married, but then he met a cute little blonde named Trina, broke off the engagement (on my answering machine, no less), asked Trina out, got shut down, and ended up marrying the girl I had told him he should ask out before he and I started dating. "Knowledge is power" or "Ignorance is bliss"?
  8. 20. I've liked so many players who wore 20 here. Imagine if you could put all of them together into one player. Mickey Redmond, Martin Lapointe, Luc Robitaille, Robert Lang, Aaron Downey, Brad May, Drew Miller

    Corey Perry Knee/Kick to Howard

Not blatantly intentional, so no fine or suspension, but it would be nice if from here on out Tootoo looked at him like he was dessert and threw him off his game. If he has occasion to beat him, great, but just having Perry's head on a swivel is good enough for me and could prove advantageous.
  10. Hockey fans are a superstitious lot. I do the bracelets, never wear red on game day unless it's Wings gear (all season), avoid the unlucky purple t-shirt on game day (all season), and have as my wallpaper a picture of the last Wing to score a goal. I'm all set. The stuff for the bracelets is set out, Ericsson is looking very handsome on my desktop, and unlucky clothing has been banished. I also have a stash of Vernor's in the fridge, but that's a tradition rather than a superstition. What do you do?

    Playoff traditions/superstitions

We can in certain stores, but it's considered to be "imported" since we are outside of their normal distribution area. It's not in with the regular soda. I found it one day by chance. They only have 6-packs of cans, and they run about $5 for the 6-pack since they're "imported". To me, it's worth it.

    Playoff traditions/superstitions

I have discovered that unless I am actually at a game, I bring terrible luck if I start the game in Wings gear. If I'm watching and we're behind after two periods, I will grab my Lang jersey, but since I work evenings four days a week, I'm usually at work, and my work is not good for keeping clothing in good condition, so no Wings gear there.

Kronwall and Rig on the wing?

That sort of thinking outside the box will put you inside the box- for two minutes! Don't go elsewhere. Stay here. It's the playoffs, and you don't want to miss the fun.

Kronwall and Rig on the wing?

That would be too many men unless you're Pittsburgh. Although in the refs' defense, Crosby was on the ice at the time.

    2013 Playoff Beards!

Kris Draper would approve of that beard.

Kronwall and Rig on the wing?

No, but we could have 6 skaters and no goalies. If you could convince one crazy shot-blocker (see Lilja, Andreas) to stay in the crease during faceoffs in that end, you could have a man advantage, and the only real worries would be breakaways and an eventual lack of crazy shot-blockers.
  17. Let's get off to a good start and keep them coming! Go Wings!
  18. OH! I get it now! I wondered why Nyquist... but then... I missed the boat on Gustav, didn't I? Maybe someone else will take that idea and run with it.

    Playoff bracelets

It's that time of year again, folks. For those who wish to show their support for the Wings but can't grow a beard (either due to gender, age, heredity, work, or spouse who just doesn't get it and therefore neither will you if you grow one), some wise folks on this board came up with a way to do it. This was started in '08, and we all know what happened then, so let's keep it up! The rules are simple: Red for a win; white for a loss. Don't take them off until the Wings get bounced or until the parade down Woodward (maintenance/cleaning allowed). Beyond that, it's up to you. Most of us use embroidery thread, but anything will do. Some people spice it up with jewels, charms, or other characters. Others braid the strands or do other fun things. Personally, I add beads with the initials of each player who scores during that game. Feel free to post your photos at any time. Good luck, have fun, and GO WINGS!
  20. I so wish I had actual skill.

    2013 Playoff Beards!

Oh, yes! Bracelets are on! Well, not on literally yet since we haven't won anything, but you know... I should probably start a thread since the originator hasn't been around for a while, and it's sort of fallen to me...

    2013 Playoff Beards!

Go Boys! On behalf of all of us who can't grow beards (and are relieved by this), grow on! Best of luck to all of you, and way to represent!

Jim Nill to be named Dallas Stars GM

We're going to be divided between the Medes and Persians? I don't think it's quite that drastic. We'll miss him, but it's not the end of the organization. I don't mean to sound like he hasn't been a large part of our success, but we have a good staff from whom to promote.

Money on the Board - playoff style!

YEAH! One of the best traditions ever. You know I'm in! I'm going with a little twist on my usual. (Don't worry- I'll keep my own running tab.) $1 for each goal scored by a player after whom I have named a hamster (assuming he's still with the Wings and not scoring for another team). An additional $10 if any of the above goals is the GWG goal that gives us the series win. An additional $50 if it is the GWG that wins us the Cup. I will again keep a running tab in my signature. Thanks, Catherine, and GO WINGS!!!
