http://www.mlive.com/redwings/ Hasek's knee sore, Osgood might start by Ansar Khan Tuesday October 09, 2007, 2:56 PM Update from practice Tuesday: Goaltender Dominik Hasek practiced but said he doesn't know if he'll play Wednesday against Calgary because of a bruise above his right kneecap. He was hit by a shot late in the third period of Monday's game and he said it was still sore. Chris Osgood might get his first start of the season Wednesday. Mike Babcock said there were no other injuries that he's aware of. Babcock said he hadn't decided what line combinations he'll use and whether he'll keep Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk on the same line.

http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/ I find this site updates regularly after the morning skate. I usually check it right before lunch.

From the Red Wings Corner blog: Johan Franzen left Saturday's game in Chicago with an injured right knee after Tuomo Ruutu fell on him. Franzen will have an MRI Sunday to determine the extent of the injury. After the game, Franzen was limping slightly. He compared the injury to what happened to his left knee last season when Willie Mitchell knocked him out with a late hit. That injury (to his left knee) kept Franzen out of nine games last season. "I had almost the same kind of thing last year ... (but) that was worse," said Franzen. "It's OK right now. It hurts a little bit right now, but I've got pain-killers."

From the Detroit Free Press this morning: Franzen suffered an injured right knee in the second period and did not return. The injury happened after Datsyuk tripped Tuomo Ruutu with his stick. Ruutu fell into Franzen, who was helped off the ice. Franzen said he didn't think it was a season-ending injury, but he'll have tests today to determine the severity of the injury.

From MLIVE: Franzen leaves Hawks game with knee injury Posted by George James Malik October 06, 2007 22:38PM Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen appeared to hyperextend his left leg and sustain a Charley horse on his right leg as it absorbed the impact of a Tuomo Ruutu hit, buckling as Franzen dropped to the ice, but the Red Wings are saying Franzen's got a knee injury of some kind: October 6, Detroit News: They just announced Franzen is out for the rest of the night with a right knee injury. Sure didn't look good when Franzen went down after Ruuttu slid into him. Franzen wasn't putting much pressure on the knee, that's for sure.

The Red Wings will host an "Open House Practice'' Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at Joe Louis Arena. It's free to the public. Captain Nicklas Lidstrom and general manager Ken Holland will address the crowd after the practice. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and players will take the ice at 10:15. The Wings play their final exhibition game later that night (7 p.m.) against Toronto.

Because of my Centre Ice issues with WOW, I switched to Comcast this morning. I asked about the NHL channel. As of this morning, the NHL channel is not available on Comcast (as least not in the Detroit area). The operator said to check back in about 10 days.
-
VERSUS is on WOW. You need the digital package. Channel 306.
-
BlueMonk, you are right. I just spent 20 minutes on hold and at first was told you could start ordering this Saturday for the early bird price. I asked about the free preview and the operator said he would check. He then came back on and said that WOW made the decision today not to carry Centre Ice. Like you, I am switcing cable providers.
-
I called WOW again today about Centre Ice and was told that it would be available on October 13th. Not sure why the delay and not sure if we will get the free preview starting tomorrow. Also nervous because I asked to sign up and was told to call back. I am not getting a warm, fuzzy feeling here.

Tomorrow's game is on VERSUS.

I apologize for copying the whole article but I have trouble copying on my laptop. This is the TSN story. What surprises me is the last paragraph that says that the Wings' also offered a contract to Sopel: Sopel leaves Wings, signs with Chicago Santala, Sopel and Edler TSN.ca Staff 9/28/2007 9:17:06 PM Brent Sopel has left the camp of the Detroit Red Wings and signed a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. Sopel signed a one-year contract with the Blackhawks, believed to be worth $1.5 million. Sopel travelled with the Red Wings to Toronto on Friday afternoon, and was scheduled to play against the Maple Leafs in a pre-season game that night, but informed the team shortly before the game that he was in serious contract talks with another club. He had been in Detroit's training camp on a tryout basis, and was offered a contract by the Red Wings shortly before signing with Chicago.
-
I was just on MLIVE and it says that Sopel was suppose to play tonight but is not and the belief is he's been signed by another team. No team was named on that site.
-
I was just on the Kuklas Korner site and it is being reported that Maple Leafs' announcers said the Sopel signed with Chicago today. Did anyone hear that?
-
Draper ties it.

Yes, I'm watching for free on the Centre Ice internet promotion.

The game is also on the Centre Ice Internet promotion. It showed earlier in the day that it would be blacked out in the Detroit area but I am watching the game. Kronwall scores.
