6 minutes to clinch the division...
-
Had a feeling this game would be tough. Last home game of the year for the Hawks, their fans hate us more than the Nazis, and they have a chance to be a spoiler. I hope we can rally. With San Jose ensconsed in that 5th spot, we need to win this division.

Cool deal, man! Stevie looks amusingly bemused in your picture, which makes it even better. And yes, as everyone else has already stated, I'm jealous too.

Huge fan here. Started following about eight years ago. Arsenal, Rangers, LA Galaxy, and the U.S. National Team. GlasgowCelticWing, maybe we should meet up and have a one-on-one hooligan fight. I'll bring the crowbars. (Mods: I'm kidding.)

Hello, Mike Tyson. Didn't know you were a hockey fan. -
Wings say they are gritty enough for playoff grind

Crashing the net is so key. It's fairly basic, and yet it's what the Wings have completely lacked in the playoffs the last several years. One long perimeter shot and out has been the norm, and it's been so frustrating. Hopefully, this year will be different. -
Ditto to what Legionnaire just said. Lou's proven himself a shrewd, evil genious too many times in the past to write off this move right away. I can't stand him, though. How appropriate is it that he's the GM of the Devils?

Amusing line from the NHL.com recap: "Detroit, which outshoots just about everyone, took control in the second and kept the puck in front of Vokoun most of the period. The Red Wings outshot Nashville 30-25."

Great win. I like how the team's rounding into shape with the playoffs breathing down our neck. Exciting.

10 Years Later: 03/26/97: Wings 6, Avs 5 (OT)

This kind of general optimism and positivity is unacceptable. Return to your Osgood/Hasek/Holland/Babcock/Lilja bashing at once!

Hate to say it, but I'm not super-optimistic about this shootout. Hope I'm wrong. -

Common, boys. I hate the Blues. -

This is great! I was really missing the Blues rivalry the last few years, since they've been so awful. Glad to see it's coming back fast. I hate the Blues, and I'm stoked that I'll have reason to hate them again soon.

Yeah, my Mom went to Michigan and my family's from the area, hence my fandom. I was raised with it, and I go to a Division 3 school here in L.A. Btw, Michigan holds a 9-2 edge over MSU in hockey National Championships.

Good grief, OSU and ND at #1 & 2. It's a Michigan fan's absolute worst nightmare. Hate to be pessimistic, but I don't see us beating ND next weekend. We never win our road opener (six years in a row), and the Irish are way too strong. Hope I'm wrong.

I'd love to see England vs. Germany for all the marbles. The atmosphere and tension would be amazing. And yes, a few people might die. But that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

As a long-suffering American-born soccer apologist, this Cup's been a huge disappointment. The U.S. team showed no offensive threat, had key defensive breakdowns at inopportune times, and got no help from the officials (that penalty for Ghana was absolutely atrocious.) Hugely frustrating. And Ghana's injury-faking throughout the second half is exactly why most Americans dismiss soccer. Shameful.

Oh come on, we know we'll hear you calling into the Big Show tomorrow, bitching and moaning about Malone and Carr. But, there is plenty of time to worry about coaching changes. I really don't see anything drastic on the horizion, but I am frequently wrong. Time will tell. I don't know, man. All I know is that watching Michigan football has become an excercise in poorly-controlled exasperation. And no, being in L.A., I don't think I'll be calling the Big Show tomorrow... Oh West Coast, my bad. hehe. Yeah it sure is a roller-coaster of a ride man. But gotta love Michigan. Go Blue! Sure is, man. I was at the Rose Bowl last year, and I didn't think I could be any more heartbroken after a game. Tonight is even worse.

Well, at least the Predators and Avs lost, so something decent happened in the sports world tonight. I was going to vomit if the Preds pulled out another one-goal win. And I'm glad I don't have to think about college football for eight months or so. Go Wings.

I'm sorry, Matt. I meant Jim Hermann. Now I'm still irritated and sound like an idiot to boot. Sigh.

I know I'm emotional, but I'm really beginning to sympathize with the "Lloyd Must Go" crowd. The amount of fourth-quarter meltdowns over the last several years is getting unbearable. At the very least, Malone needs to go. He has no clue how to call a game with a lead in the fourth quarter. And again, I hate myself for caring. Jeez.
