P. Daddy scoring in the clutch, baby!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big time comeback win - absolutely HUGE! We're all tied up!

The Wings were definitely not happy with thier effort in Game 1; I'm anticipating a much better effort this afternoon. I think the Wings will take this one in convincing fashion!

Pre-GAME 1 (4/26): Sharks @ Red Wings - 7:30 PM ET
Zenithian replied to Hatchet Barry's topic in General
These two teams have not played each other in quite awhile, so there will a bit of mystery in the 1st period, to be sure. After that adjustement period has passed, I think we'll clearly know how this series will play out. Despite some uncertainty, I think the Wings will win Game 1! -
Oh great, Don Van(couver) Massenhoven somehow snuck in there...not to mention the two idiot referees (Koharski and Joannette) who officiated the debacle of Game 5. Hopefully, those fools will ruin things over in the Eastern Conference...

Try not to pay much attention to BlakChamber...he can't help himself, really. After all, it took him over half of his time being a member here to figure out emoticons were a good idea for expressing sarcasm. Right, BC?

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSCORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! Franzen with the 2OT winner! Payback for 2004!!!! Round 2, here we come!!!!
-
Hmm...there's no rational explanation for it, but I just have a good feeling about the Wings winning this one. I hope I'm right!

I think in Game 6, the Wings will be all business in their execution, considering how Game 5 ended. I think they'll defeat the Flames decisively, leaving no doubt that this year's team is for real. Time to break Calgary's back in their own house!

TSN reporting Lebda has suffered concussion
Zenithian replied to omnipotent_hudler's topic in General
Alright, I think we've had enough from this troll...Matt, it's against my nature to ask this since this is your house, but I think it's time to wield the ban-hammer on this nut. This is just one of several posts this person has made that 1) makes absolutely no sense, and 2) is an attempt to incite a flame war. -
Like I said in the GDT, the Flames are nothing but a bunch of gutless pukes who take liberties and would pass it off as "toughness" when the game's out of hand. The fact is they've been outplayed for long stretches in this series, and are lucky they're even still playing in the first place! Anyway, just an absolutely dominating game by the Wings today! They weathered the storm in the 1st period, and came alive in the 2nd, starting with the penalty shot goal by Cleary. Huge, HUGE props to Zetterberg for his two goals, and especially to the whole team for their excellent special teams play! This is a convincing win, and with the Wings steaming from the cheap play by the Flames, I think the Wings are going to light them up in Calgary.

The Flames are a bunch of gutless pukes, and I hope every last one of them goes straight to hell! Iginla and their scrub backup deserve suspensions, and the rest of their sad sack team ought to be put on notice for Game 6. Son of a *****, I HATE THE FLAMES!!!!

Back in the friendly confines of the Joe, I think we'll see great things from our Wings this afternoon. I think they'll reassert themselves and take control of this series! All you doubters can take a hike!
-
Y'know, the Wings' power play has been inconsistent throughout the season, so to a degree, I can't say I'm all that surprised with it. However, their penalty killing has been terrible in Games 3 and 4, and that's rather vexing. This team is pretty good on the PK, and shouldn't be struggling nearly as much as it is. If that aspect of special teams was going as it should, the Wings would be up 3-1 in this series, at worst. What Calgary is doing on their PP isn't complicated, and furthermore, can be further mitigated by by making some adjustments in the neutral zone at even strength. I'm no bandwagoner - I still have the faith!

Pre-GAME 4: (4/19) Red Wings @ Flames - 9:30 PM EDT
Zenithian replied to Must Kill's topic in General
The Wings are definitely not pleased with their effort in Game 3, and will look to channel their frustration into a much better effort in Game 4. Once again, the first period will say a lot about how this game will turn out, so it's important for the Wings to capitalize on the opportunities they are given. I say the Wings take this one and crush the Flames' hopes tonight! -
Double post...TTL problems with the site, no doubt...
-
Horrible officiating, horrible ice conditions and a mediocre job by the defense and Hasek. That pretty much sums up Game 3...oh well, I never thought the Wings would sweep anyway. I'm sure they'll make the proper adjustments to their game plan, and get further acclimated to being in Western Canada. The Wings are still in great shape. ...still though, I am pissed off about that missed call of holding/interfering with Zetterberg on the Flames' go-ahead goal. The officiating was not good in this one, to say the least.

PRE-GAME 3: (4/17) Red Wings @ Flames - 10:00 PM EDT
Zenithian replied to aflac9262's topic in General
If the Wings win tonight, it's game over for Calgary. For all their hyperbole in the papers, the Flames have been all talk and no action. I find it interesting they're exuding so much confidence via. the local media in the latest reports, yet they've shown absolutely nothing to this point to justify it. This is the playoffs; a team's home record during the regular season means very little this time of the year - the Wings understand this all too well, and it showed in their play for both Games 1 and 2. With that in mind, the first period will tell us all a lot about how this game will be decided. Calgary has a chance if they keep the score close, but if they prove to be slow learners, Detroit will absolutely break their backs. Once again, I believe the Wings will win convincingly! -
That was hilarious! Back on topic though, the Wings have an excellent record when they go up 2-0 in a series. With that in mind, I think it is quite possible to finish this series off in 4-5 games. I'd say if the Wings take Game 3, a sweep is very likely; if they get a split in Calgary, the series will probably end in 5. As some had mentioned earlier, the Wings do need to improve on faceoffs (especially Lang). Though some might be tempted to critique the Wings power play, I think that has far more to do with Kiprusoff than anything else.
-
Yes, I couldn't agree more! I really like that angle, as it allows you to see where the passing seams are, as well as both the offensive and defensive schemes being implemented. I can see how it might be disorientating for some, but it is an excellent perspective on a power play.

The following is all that needs to be said about Game 2: Red. Wings. Domination. Snuff out those Flames in Game 3, boys!!
-
After taking in Game 1 for a couple of days, I'm thinking Game 2 is going to determine how long this series will go. If the Wings play this afternoon as well as they did on Thursday, this is going to be a short series. If they don't, I'm anticipating this round to go at least six games. Calgary cannot afford to go home down 0-2 - a fact not lost on the Wings. I've got a good feeling about this one - Wings win again in convincing fashion!
-
Y'know, they have products to help with the problem you seem to have. You'll find them here and here. Seriously though, you'd be hard pressed to find anybody back then who DIDN'T have a problem with the play. But guess what? It's in the past, so get over it (we did). Why don't you get back to sulking over the Flames' embarrassing loss, hm?
-
Ahhh, relax guy! Take a rest, buddy!
-
^---For those of you who missed this, here's a brief summary... Get over it...your team was embarrassing tonight and lost badly. Suck it up and root for them in Game 2...and by the way, talk is cheap. The Flames have been running their mouths all week in the press, and got smacked in the mouth for it, REAL HARD. If they're smart, they'll actually show up next time - after all, it'll make beating them all the more satisfying.
-
Tonight's display by the Red Wings was absolute, total domination in all facets of the game. At no point was Calgary in this game; if not for Miikka Kiprusoff, the score could have easily been 8 or 9 to 1. With the way they played on this particular night, the Flames didn't even deserve to skate on the same ice as the Wings - not only were they horrible on offense and defense, but they tried to goon it up when the game was far out of reach. I said in my post this morning that I felt some uncertainty about this game and/or series, and that most (if not all) questions would be answered at the end of Game 1. I think the Wings resoundingly gave their answer - if Calgary doesn't make some MAJOR adjustments and quickly, not only are they going to lose, but they will be humiliated. Bear in mind we didn't even have Bertuzzi. At any rate, great win for the WIngs!
