    9/17 Pre-Season GDT : Red Wings 0 at Blackhawks 2

Same here. I have GCL but had no watch option last night. And I am out of area so assumed it would be available. Anyone know what the new GCL rules are this year that is causing some to see the games and some not?

Jimmy's out w/back spasms, MacDonald recalled

IF I had to bet money I would go with you on that. But Osgood has suprised me before and it looks like he gets a chance to prove it no matter what we say here on LGW. So I hope he proves us all wrong and is suddenly absolutely sick and steals games. Am I betting on it, absolutely not

MacDonald will be inserted into Detroit’s lineup tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes, serving as a back up to starting goaltender Chris Osgood. " Hopefully he got Stewies Flu and wont be out long.

Hopefully Jimmy just got Stewie's Flu and will be back quickly. Time for ozzie to prove he still has it.

Draper to miss an additional 4-6 weeks

Thanks. guess i wasn't thinking about just doing it retroactively if needed. And since we can only go over during the LTIR, I see that it doesn't help us in the long run. I know all this most days, must be all the cold medicine....

Draper to miss an additional 4-6 weeks

Cap question I guess. So Tick Tock says no LTIR for Drapes as he doesn't need the cap space. I understand why we don't need the space to bring anyone up from GR right now, with Abby coming back and becoming the extra forward . But don't we save cash against the cap for the time Drapes is on LTIR? I thought the portion of his salary paid while on LTIR wouldn't count against the cap. So that would be money we have overall against the cap and would be leeway for later in the season... Why wouldn't we put someone on LTIR if they are out 4-6 weeks???? Quote from Free Press - www.freep.com/article/20101021/SPORTS05/10210526/1053/sports05/Slow-starts-need-to-stop-for-Wings#ixzz131RStxiA" "SURGERY FOR DRAPER: General manager Ken Holland said Kris Draper will undergo surgery for a sports hernia today, and will be out four to six weeks. The Wings aren't putting Draper on long-term injury reserve because they don't need the room." <edited for duplication of post>

Lilja gets training camp invitation to Sharks

Hope lilja lands in the NHL and in Grand Rapids would be ideal. Maybe after this weird treatment by the Sharks he will have an even deeper appreciation for the Wings Organization.

Lilja gets training camp invitation to Sharks

I was searching around to get a status update on Lilja and found this. He still doesnt have more then a try-out contract but this looks encouraging for him making the Sharks. http://blogs.mercurynews.com/sharks/2010/09/30/andreas-lilja-will-be-on-the-plane-to-europe-but-still-without-a-contract-for-the-coming-season/ Also read an article about how the Ragers need Left Handed D-men. If anyone will overpay a players worth its the Rangers ;-)

10/1 Pre-season GDT: Toronto Maple Leafs at Red Wings

Lashoff gets a great scoring chance at the Leafs end and then missed his pickup on the way back down the ice and then missed it again on the goal. I know hes going to GR and he has looked good at times, but you cant get so excited about a shot on goal you completely forget how to play D when you come back down the ice.

Supposed to be a reply to... View PostSouthernHockeyHoney, on 01 October 2010 - 08:19 PM, said: Just got home... Damn you Dish Network. Help a girl out here... Score? If you have Dish then while they lost fox they gave everyone NHLNet. Its the stupid leafs feed but you should be able to watch the game.

Dish Network and FS Detroit negotiating

Does anyone know if this will effect tonights game? I would rather watch the Fox HD feed then NHL Network as I need to here Ken and Mick and am not sure which feed NHLNet is using. Just checked and it isnt listed anymore until the replay at 1am (which I am guessing is now blocked out anyways). So it looks like its NHLNet

I have the fox sorts package in dish network. For some reason both the FSN-d and MSG feed show as blacked out. This usually only happens if it is on versus or NBC Anyone have an ideas why it would be blacked out? I am in Florida. Thanks

Wings Claim Drew Miller on Waivers from Tampa

I couldnt find anything definitive on the diagnosis, but after a little googling found that she has a facebook page and looks like she is doing well. Since the incident was in 2007, that seems encouraging...

    Mike Grier?

I searched Grier, dont know how I missed the other thread. If the mods want to merge them thats cool with me.

    Mike Grier?

I am curious. I know he was only making about 1.75Mil. I lived in the Bay Area for the last few years and got to see a lot of him. He is a big body with decent(not great) offesive skill, great in the corners, incredible defensive skill and plays 100% every shift. A good wings fit and a hometown guy. I know what we have lost is goals, but it seems if we add a legit 3rd line guy who also chips in some goals, that frees the Leino, Hudler, Cleary, Helm guys up to get more offensive time, or at least not be exhausted by penalty killing. We talk about Hossa's lost 40 goals, but not his two-way play and penalty killing. The more I think about it, getting Grier for say 1.5 Mil cap hit would be great. give us both size, speed, grit and energy. He is a real heart and soul guy.

Posted this on the Sharks forum

I am going with the.. "I know you meant to be funny but I think you blew it." Having grown up when the wings sucked, only to have them destroy me more in the early 90s when they were great but couldnt get past round one or two. Then to lose to Colorado when I was stuck living there for 6 months. Then glorious success, and the tragedy of Vladdy. To the much mentioned disappointments in recent years. I have to say while joke intended, bad hockey etiquette, bad forum ettiquette. When its all ove the players shake hands cause when its over they are all hockey players, and we are all hockey fans in a country dominated by baseball fans. I feel the pain of my Sharks fan friends, and tonight my Ranger Fan friends. Even though all year I give them hell and bust their balls. Today they are feeling a pain I know all too well, as done any fan who has been following the game and loving their team for any length of time. Cause no team wins it every year. Frankly I would rather see the Sharks succeed then the Ducks. The Sharks are a classy orginization that takes great care of its players and staff, much in the mold of the Wings. A Sharks/ Wings WCF would have been awesome! So I appreciate the attempt at humor but to me the timing sucked

    Clutterbuck's Hit

Clutterbuc and Howe have only one thing in common; A desire to retaliate against the guy who emabarrased them. Having said that I think the big difference is in todays NHL the respect level for other players is in the toliet. While a buttend and many of the plays Howe is famous for were illegal, just like hooking was during the 90's it doesnt mean it was called then. Does that make it morally better 'no'. To me the big difference is while Howe truly hated his opponents I think he also had a level fo respect for them. Boarding, Hits from behind, baseball swings and the kind of head shots we are seeing today are all potential serious injury/career-enders. Howe did all his serious retribution skate to skate with his gloves on the ice. His cheapshots were many, but meant to embarras and sting, if Howe was really mad he fought you. As wass earlier pointed out, Clutterbuc is gettng a reputation for dirty hitting. Leaving your feet repeatedly (and not from driving through your check) is weak. I dont care that they didnt call it. I think it should have been called, but whatever. My concern is what someone else pointed out, if Lebda turns into the boards we are talking potential serious injury. I think clutterbuc should be suspended for charging/intent to injure, and frankly I would like to see them start suspending players (not Lebda in this case) for putting themselves in such dumbass positions. Lebda thankfully saw him in time to try to get out of the way (failed). But it is charges like this mixed with guys not protecting themsleves that is making this such a dangerous league, when frankly the players are all way softer then almost anyone pre-Gretsky.
