Can I just take a moment to say how happy I am that we got Cole and Zidlicky? I just looked through box scores and since joining the Wings they both have 4 points in 6 games (including today's so far). And I didn't really pay attention but I think their assists are all primary, too.

Yeah, the poster may have been joking, but what they wrote was actually libel. The affected players are absolutely within their rights to do so. Even Internet trolls have to be held accountable. It's funny, sure, but libel usually is.

I really expected Leafs fans to be more knowledgeable and rational. Their hatred of Kessel never made sense to me. The guy is a stud. I don't care that he's a goofy looking guy, he's a hard worker who scores and seems to be a great teammate.

It's one thing if it's an actual, naturally occurring nickname. Z, Babs, etc. it's an entirely different matter when people are making them up and hoping they catch on. See: Diesel, or any of the rher endless nicknames no one but Internet posters use that aren't even related to their name. And then there are those that are blatantly for marketing purposes. Megatron. Seems a waste to use him that low on this team. He's a scoring version of Abdelkadee, so it makes sense to slot him in on the top two lines. Cole would make the top lines better than he would make the third line better.

How many times have we been shut out his season? Seems like aside from a few hot streaks we at way too easy to shut down.

I think it has something more to do with the team he was playing against. I hear they're just a bunch of thugs who assault players all the time. That was a definite dirty play but I think the big deal is that it's a pattern. I team full of Matt Cooke's if you will.

I don't think they hate each other. I think Ken sometimes gets tired of Mickey complaining because Ken sounds more like a company man than a truth teller. But I think they get along personally just fine.

I really don't think the intra division premium applies to this Franson situation. They need to unload him. They're rebuilding. It'll be a long time before they are competitive and we have better prospects than most. Our draft picks won't be worth much so I'm betting they'd part with him for one of our defense prospects and a low pick just to add some extra value. Maybe a roster player, which I'd be okay with since we have so many. Kindl, a 3rd, and maybe a lower ranked defense prospect should do it. Edit: that's the starting point. If another team offers more obviously we go up from there.

It means something because people like history. These are the oldest teams with vaunted histories and legends. That's all. There's no rule they have to be rivals. Detroit and Chicago, for example, have been rivals in several sports. But the legends and the rivalries that do exist have had time to mature and get intense. Newer teams with shorter histories just don't have the same experience.

He could be a decent fit in Buffalo. Like you said, there's little for them to lose. They have a high shot at getting McDavid or Eichel. The only thing is they'd want some veterans to keep Kane from being a bad influence on whoever they draft. Makes some level of sense if they're feeling adventurous. If he turns it around and commits to being a professional, they could, in one summer, speed up their turnaround which previously would have relied almost entirely on this upcoming draft. If he continues to be a punk, oh well, Buffalo was already a bit of a joke, and they unload him or bury him.

I just don't understand how any pro sports franchise can be run so poorly. I mean, I know there's only a 1 in 30 shot of winning the Cup every year, but you have over a 50% chance of being a playoff team. It just doesn't seem that hard to put together a roughly competent team once in a while, yet some teams in each sport do so regularly.

Missed the game, why was Doan yelling at the crowd? It feels like forever since the Wings have been on top in a conference, but it's probably only been four years. But in true Wings fan fashion I won't be totally happy until we catch up with Anaheim.

I hope this train keeps a-rollin. I'd like to finish the season near or at the top for the first time in years, please. Kthxby.
