Alfredsson can't do much with his linemates. The kid line is slowing down a bit. Might be a good time to add a vet who can feed them. Would help everyone.
-
I'd agree with your first grouping, not your second. We're not as comically far apart as you think. That second grouping of players have just as many, If not more, flaws as Kronwall.

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

The graph previously posted shows the number of trades has nothing to do woth success or winning Cups. You've got winners all along that spectrum. -
At the rate our players are dropping like flies, it would be awesome if he actually played in the NHL this year. I don't know if he's ready but players do sometimes jump right in.
-
So this is how the streak ends. Ridiculous. We've joked about it all year but it's time to get serious: fire the trainers/doctors/whoever is supposed to be getting these guys healthy and keeping them that way.
-
Maybe people could list some details about why they like said players so this thread will be more than just lists?
-
Well, when Datsyuk and Zetterberg get back, he can play with them. There's space for Alfie in the top 6. Yet he hasn't really played in the top six since early in the season, if I recall correctly.
-
Don't forget Alfie has a bonus next season that counts against the cap. $2.5 million, I think. So trchnically he agreed to play here for $5. Unless a second year was part of a gentleman's agreement he will command about $5 million more, giving him a cap hit of about $7 million, I think. Unless they finagle a two year deal for less. Still, I want him back. But playing him on the third is one of the dumber things Babcock has done.

Weiss - who would take him next season and does he have a full NTC
VM1138 replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Weiss can play wing. No reason it has to be either Legwand or Weiss. Franzen-Datsyuk-Z Weiss-Legwand-Alfredsson is a heck of a top 6. Then, Tatar-Sheahan-Nyquist as the 2b line. -
Yeah, freakin' bipolar. I'm not too worried about the East, we have shown that even injured we can beat the good teams. I don't think we'd run into real problems until the Conference finals. The trouble is getting in.
-
I think some of you are overrating other defensenen. Kronwall is absolutely in the top 10. Maybe top 5. Weber is clearly the best in the league, but after him everyone else has glaring weaknesses.Kronwall is an offensive defenseman who plays a solid defensive game.

Who will have a better career as a Red Wing: Weiss or Legwand?
VM1138 replied to wingedominance13's topic in General
People are just reaching for ways to make this seem like a bad deal. It's highly likely Legwand will re-sign, I'd say. -
Red Wings have Recalled Pulkkinen from Grand Rapids
VM1138 replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
I hope he plays. Let's go balls out, so to speak. All the firepower we have should be up. Vets experience will be needed in tghe playoffs but right now if a player can score, they should play. -
Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
VM1138 replied to gcom007's topic in General
Everyone keeps saying Legwand is declining. His stats are remarkably consistent, and the last few years he's been right at about 50 points each time. This year he should crack it again. -
I wouldn't say "fleeced." He gave up Eaves because Eaves deserves to play somewhere. Eaves isn't helping us and doesn't fill a need. So I consider that a favor Holland did for Eaves. True, he could've tried to send Bertuzzi, Cleary, Sammy, etc. but those guys are going to be gone anyway in the summer and have nothing more to give. Eaves does. We really didn't overpay for Legwand.

So far we've heard Jarnkrok or Ferraro. Nothing official and nothing reliable. Ferraro makes sense. He doesn't really have a future with the Wings. -
Maybe the prospect is intentionally hiding. They can't trade him if they can't find him!

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
VM1138 replied to gcom007's topic in General
Whoa, way too much if Jarnkrok is gone. Don't mind him sending Eaves. Like the guy but we've got too many similar players and he deserves to play somewhere. I view that as a favor for Eaves. -

Legwand has 40 points thus far. He's far from a scrub, like some people are suggesting. What I find interesting is we don't have a recap yet with interviews from Holland like we normally do. He might not be done yet. -

Why is everyone so down on Legwand? He's played every game this year, is leading Nashville's forwards in scoring, and instantly becomes one of our top scorers, too. Not a superstar goal scorer, but he will likely finish the year with 15 goals at least. And 30 assists so far isn't anything to shrug at on a team like ours that has trouble passing sometimes. EDIT: I was going off memory, so I'm wrong. He won't be one of our top scorers. He's played nearly twice as many games as anyone on our roster, but over a full season he'd probably fall in the middle of the pack. Not bad, still. Sort of like a Flip, 50-60 point guy. -
If we really do have Legwand, he's a big help. Not what we were expecting a few days ago, but this healthy lineup: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Alfredsson-Legwand-Nyquist Abdelkader-Weiss-Tatar Miller-Helm-Sheahan (Can he play wing?) (Rotate centers however you like) Looks way better than anything we could've iced at all this year.
-
Well it all depends on what the Wings give up, but a lot of players who have moved have moved for reasonable prices. Considering we can't even ice an NHL team due to injuries, anyone who doesn't totally suck could have helped. We need centers. We need defenders. Not just superstars, either. This has been the most active deadline in years. If ever there was a time when a deal could have been fanagled for someone, it was this year. It's not like last year where everybody held tight and only crappy players were available at ridiculous prices. This year's deadline was actually fairly reasonable. So...I know that's kind of a vague answer but I hope that it at least gives you an idea of the opportunity we may have lost on. We have holes that need more than just a superstar. Any middling addition could have helped, within reason.
-
Well, folks, this very minute could be the minute the longest playoff streak in professional sports dies.
-
That's dumb, though. We're not just looking to get better this season. If we can add someone now who will help our team period, you do it. Don't wait for the off-season, because then there will just be another excuse. EDIT: And if Helene St. James says she can't see any good deal, then that's almost straight out of Holland's mouth. She's essentially a mouthpiece for him. I take that to me we're done.

The teams associated with Kesler changes every hour. Yesterday he was going to waive for Pittsburgh, Detroit and Philly.
