If by consolidate, you mean trade for a top-sixer in a 3-1 deal, I agree. That's what Holland stated he was looking for. How about getting Jamie Benn out of the Dallas hell he's in. Good Canadian boy.

It isn't really a question of would we like to have him, it's do we want to pay him $6 million a year for 7 years. Do people not understand how bad a cap hit that is for a player like Clarkson. If you paid him, he'd be making basically the same money as Zetterberg ... does that seem logical, to anyone?

Agree with those who think the contract is too long. Lecavalier signing with one of the most unstable franchises in the NHL is a dumb move. There's a decent chance that Briere will be better than Vinny in the coming year. -
If they don't draft Primeau, they may not have been able to trade for Shanahan ... and they fall short again in '97. To me, Shanahan was the last piece of the SC puzzle.
